WTF! Comics?

Actually, isn't it strange that neither Kami, Piccolo, Nail, Dende nor Guru EVER mention this shit? And shouldn't King Kai have heard about that shit too?

With Kami, Piccolo and Dende, I could understand not hearing about it because the former two basically grew up sans knowledge of their homeworld, let alone the deeper understanding of the Dragon Balls themselves.

Dende, I can give a pass because he's really young and it's one of those things that might not have come up in the "Guide to Being a Kami" and/or "How to Maintain Your Balls".

But Guru REALLY should've known; Nail probably should have known given how long he and Guru were out in the middle of nowhere with little to talk about; and King Kai was long lived enough that he should've known as well. I could give King Kai a pass, as he's had an incredibly stressful decade or so, on top of being dead, but the others... not so much.

Because it didn't exist before GT.

The manga ended with the Buu Saga (well, technically with Uub). GT is Toei's non canon attempt to keep on milking the franchise.

rofl, gotta admit, seeing Otto beat the shit out of Logan made my day, and that last line was priceless.

It is amusing but I can't help but facepalm after reading that. Spidey acts completely out of character and Logan is the only one to call him out on it? I think Rachel is the only one there who hasn't known Spidey for a long time. And whats with the inner monologue that seems a step away from the recent Sherlock Holmes films?
Are the eyes on his costume meant to be a visual indicator of him being Doc Ock? They're ultra-reflective like a pair of glasses.

And wtf is up with Storm's expressions.

Edit: Also, the claws?

It's the new SSM suit Otto designed.

Or as some fans are calling it, the Spiderpuss suit (yes, I know what it also means... :snigger: )

As for the monologuing....what's wrong with it?

True, it's a bit more grandiose compared to Peter's usual monologues....but I personally found the tone to be a nice fit with Otto's character.

Whats with the one claw on the foot?

Fight reminds me of an old spiderman vs wolverine matchup behind the red curtain. As always the good
guys have a fight. Only reason wolverine wins is spiderman refuses to tear his head off and kill him.

But really skrulls, possession, clones, ..... sigh. I guess if star treck never learned to test for shit
whenever anyone beams up I can't expect intelligent idea's in comics.

Edit: considering how doc ock apparently likes to draw blood it would make sense to put claws on the feet.

Actually how does doc Ock feel about the symbiont? Might be right up his alley.

The symbiote probably wouldn't feel good about Doc Ock though. Particularly since it knows Otto and was all tsundere for Peter.

Edit: I kinda like the goggles though the way they're integrated into the mask looks a bit silly. The claws though.... their location on his fingers seems to shift to the point where it looks like they got added in after the rest of the artwork in the wolverine panels.

Edit2: Hell, they're totally absent in some of the panels.

If that's true I'd like to see a venom/doc ock arc.

Looking at the hands yeah they do look tacked on. Remind me of the spiderman 2099 design.

Personally, I wanna see how everyone would react to the symbiote touching Spider-Ock, then going a blind fury and screaming 'you're not him!' like an angry ex. Or worse, the inner sliver of Parker connecting to the symbiote for help.

So... the whole genius of Otto and Peter and all he has to show is a few claws (i'm being sarcastic)

Otto was ok but he is a B-list villain, Peter could make a spider suit totally undetectable so...

sorry Otto but to me you are just ego and hot air nothing more

I love how his big way of showing he's a better spider-man is by putting hand-claws and a dewclaw on each foot. Seriously, when have claws ever been useful to the guy that can naturally stick to any surface? And wouldn't said claws, that don't retract, make it hard for you to grab/save people without ripping them half to hell?

You forget, he is the superior Spider-Man.

That said, yeah, beating up Wolverine was pretty funny, but Logan asked the wrong telepath to probe Spidey-Ock. Had it been Emma Frost, unless writers have done horrible things to her personality/powers, Spidey-Ock would be a Christmas goose by now.

Also, just reading the bit here, I got to admit, he rubs me wrong with his bullied genius spiel, badmouthing Peter as "not going far enough" and other stuff while conveniently ignoring the fact that there was probably a damn good reason why Peter didn't do stuff Otto would do. It's like reading a fixfic--

....

...SONOVABITCH!

You know this is like a twisted version of show don't tell. While Otto likes to tell us he is the superior spider-man, everything that we are being shown proves that Peter is the superior spider-man.

The funny thing is that Spidey has worn suits with all of these additions. The Iron Spider suit being the most notable and actually providing valid improvements.Marvel just likes to keep taking away his goodies.

Just like how they liked taking away his chances of getting laid. Oh well, at least he's in heaven with his harem, and not having to slog through this stupidity.

EDIT: And here's a sudden thought. Does anyone get the vague feeling of Spider-Ock starting to go down the anime way? The big lenses serve no real purpose other then to look like huge eyes, and he's suddenly talking and acting all Lelouch-y?

Shhh. He's being edgy. The Octopus had to establish dominance over the wolverine in order to... umm. Blow his cover. Remnants of the Spider had to use damage control, which is apparently going to be a running theme.

Personally, I think Peter will come back after Otto breaks his promise in a way that not even the force ghost Peter can prevent.

I'd also really like some scene where a recovered Peter deals with the fact that his friends and family couldn't tell when something was wrong with him despite public episodes of erratic behavior.

Wolverine's "Told ya so" moment should be epic.

And it will be a well deserved 'I told ya so' too.

Personally, it seems like he's got more megalomaniac rolling around in his head then dying Parker had given him credit for. The second he gets challenged he goes for the claws to the face....and the claw thing never stops being ridiculous...and should have definitely gotten a brain-scan. Thankfully, maintaining the new status quo won out and he has his free pass.

Actually, that's is a pretty accurate comparison of Spock's new M.O.

In this issue of Avenging Spider-Man # 16, he beats the giant spider using a combination of strategic strikes to the Arachnid physiology + changes to the air pressure in order to shock the spider into unconsciousness. When he orders Storm to change the surrounding air pressure though, he inner monologue goes:
"It feels right that they obey me..."

And in the main book SSM #1, he goes up against the new Sinister Six but couldn't beat them by himself the first time around. So what does he do? He scratches one of them which injects him with nano spider-tracers equipped with GPS & Audio transmitters (apparently that's the real reason why the claws are there).

After he discovers their hideout and plans though...he doesn't go after them immediately. Instead, he arrives at the location of their next target an hour before they're set to hit it and booby traps it with inventions tailored to take each of them out. Then he calls the press so that they can get a ringside seat on the action where he publicly beats and humiliates the new Sinister Six while the whole world is watching.

He's basically like a twisted amalgam of Lelouch with Batman scientific know how & prep time. (which is admittedly quite fun to watch)

Regarding Otto's accomplishment so far in the scientific field as Spider-Man,

Nano Spider tracers (which can be injected with his claws).
Frictioness stuff to deal with speedster
And a Power Draining Field.

Achievements prior to being Spider-Man included setting up untraceable satellites around the earth that could fry the entire planet.

They do retract actually as shown in SSM#1

And then he nearly wrecks everything by nearly killing one of them.

Crazy guy that Ock.

Admittedly, I wouldn't be enjoying SPOCK'S tenure as Spidey half as much if I didn't already know that Peter was still around as a pseudo Force Ghost / Cock-Blocking conscience.

Now that I do though....this setup is just all kinds of fun. :mmm:

Well...screwattack finally uploaded Goku vs Superman on YouTube:
Goku Vs Superman

For those of you with slow internet speeds, go watch it now!

TC, you do make good points. I rather like the overall idea they're going with, as it is a novel way of doing things, but I'm more worried this is all just a gimmick and won't last another 10 comics before the status quo is restored in another trite and suddenly convenient 'twist'.

Nononono, Venom isn't Tsundere for Peter, it's Yandere, there's a world of difference here.

Tsundere can be summed up as "A likes B but is determined to deny it, mostly by being a complete bitch/jerk to B".

Yandere is more "A openly WORSHIP B but if A can't have B (for whatever reason), then NOBODY WILL ! *insert psychotic laughter here*".

Now tell me, which one sound more like Venom ?
