Evangelion Alternate Guardians for Rei

Rei with.... Kasumi Tendo a la Ranma 1/2.
Girl who is emotionally dead? Meet girl who is perpetually positive...
Rei would either kill herself, kill Kasumi, or find herself saying oh my in that emotionless tone of hers...
Haruhi Suzumiya (older version) would be a nice bit of crack... though all in all, it would mostly be por Kyon raising the girl.

Rei with an imagination is just a big enough wrench in the works.
It could be as simple as some X-over character being part of the Gehern staff and unwittingly undoing Gendo's efforts of making her emotionally inert.
Kasumi getting a job as a nurse and winds up telling Rei stories of Ranma's exploits whenever she performs Rei's physicals when Ritsuko's busy.
I can imagine Rei pouring water on Shinji and asking him why he's not turning into a girl.(Or on Asuka and wondering why she doesnt turn back into Shinji.)

Dr. Tanubaum From Bioshock. I kind of like the image of a Big Daddy following Rei around where ever she goes. It might not take kindly to what it would percieve as Mistreatment of it's little sister.

regarding Haruhi - oh heck. I can just see Gendou smiling evilly at the Brigade, claiming it's important and all that bull that Rei's piloting Evangelions, Haruhi, of course is positively for it (her junior SOS-dan member becomes part of an ancient conspiracy!) and Kyon's facepalming as if there's no tomorrow.
Besides, the interesting similarities between Yuki und Rei.
Hm. Another interesting possibilty regarding a Guardian for Rei would be Belldandy, of AMG; I mean, Rei *is* somehow related to them.

Semi-related idea: all of the Rei-clones have separate souls, and Rei I was adopted after her death by Ichigo and Rukia (and/or whoever else you want to 'ship him with). Soul Society has no intention of allowing Gendo and SEELE to kill the whole world in an attempt to become gods.

Can't you just hear her delivering wildly outrageous theories and stories about bizzare animals that don't really exist in that Deadpan voice? The potential just for Asuka's reaction is priceless.
Even more priceless would be if Gendo couldn't stop her from spouting off classified info with the bizzare theories so after Rei just spouted off a bunch of ridiculous lies and one classified detail He has to reprimand her for releasing classified info.
This is the perfect recipe to torment Asuka.
