Sirius walks into prison wearing these, and no one recognizes him.

That would be hilarious, and I would love to see a fic where Sirius survives in Azkaban because he has a pair of Groucho Glasses, and that, and that alone, is why he could escape.

However, that sort of thing really wouldn't suit this fic, because it is a serious thing.

I'd still love to see it, though.

Basically the conversation that sparked this thread's creation.
Fanfic updates. It starts on page 92, the specific post you're looking for is on 93.

A thought on Sirius helping Harry escape.

Instead of muddling around with 3rd year canon how about this:

Sirius knowing how to A) escape Azkaban B) Make time there survivable C) Because it's Harry, decides to break back in and help Harry out.

As in Sirius get's himself walked back into prison as Padfoot, sneaks into Harry's cell and proceeds to teach his godson how they are going to blow the joint.

Thoughts?

Ciao

Why not have Harry caught while breaking *into* the DoM? Having a secretive department completely undefended seemed odd to me regardless of the circumstances. At least some sort of automated defenses should have been in place.

Then Sirius doesn't die. He then simply sneaks into Azkaban to break Harry out. He broke out once before, and it's probably easier to sneak in than out given prisons tend to be designed to keep people in.

I'm doing some serious work on the chapter updates that remain partially unfinished, and I decided to make this one of my active projects.

I'm going to ask Silvere for permission to do a rewrite. If he says yes, I'll go for it. If he says no, I'm still going to do it, but the premise is different enough that I can still do it, provided I don't use Earl of the North specific terms, like Nair-whatever the castle is called. If Silvere gives a thumbs down, it'll be "King of the North," or something along those lines. His disapproval would also kill a lot of minor details like the Warlock Mark, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

I might do one more skim to see if there are things I want to change, but for now, I think I've got enough on this idea. I do want to state, though, just for the record, that regardless of what Silvere says, my snowbitches are not going to be Silvere's "Snow People." He just had them as being weird elf things, and I'm not a fan of that. Since the theme is mythology and the old world, I'm actually thinking that they are what's left of the Frost Giants from Norse mythology.

Oh, tall, busty snowbitches*.

From "My mind is weird, episode indigo": Are there good Warcraft stories ? I'd be delighted by a very porny story involving Vyrkul*, but I take any well written story barring slash.

*These points are so related, they can only date in Kentucky.

... Frost giants?

Like these?

Here's hoping the snowbitches don't look as "I want to rip your head off and mount it on my wall" type threatening.

Yes, those Frost Giants.

Do note that the snow people are what's left of them. They have diminished over the centuries.

I greatly prefer "the last of the Frost Giants" to "miscellaneous Tolkien elves." That's just me, though. Your mileage may vary.

"Last of the frost giants" is preferable to ANY type of elf, never mind just Tolkien. I was just saying that the first thing I would think of when hearing frost giants isn't some hot, blue skinned blonde haired chick. It's the men with giant axes and wielding huge ass swords made of lightning.

That being said, I'm glad Earl of the North isn't a dead idea.

I see no problem with that, go for the Valkyrie motif. Nothing like getting an army and a harem all in one, yeah?

I've shot Silvere a message. We'll see if he responds, and if so, whether he lets me do it or not.

Just out of curiosity, functioning under the assumption that I don't get a response back, how long is appropriate or acceptable to wait before going ahead and doing it anyway?

FF.net doesn't have an update history, does it ?
If it has, wait his average between updates, if not flip a coin and wait 1/2 month, month depending

I would say 2 months at least. If he doesn't say anything in at least two months time, you can go right on ahead.

Might want to pester him a bit about it though, seeing as he might later throw a tantrum about it, so at least make sure you tried to get in contact with him at least 10 times.

Then, he just has NO excuse.

Knyght

The Collector
Then he might have a tantrum and say no because you contacted him at least 10 times about the same thing.

Or maybe he'll be incredibly prompt and totally cool about the whole thing.
I have no objections to you borrowing anything I may have created in Earl of
the North.

If you would like any input on your plot at any time, let me know.

All the best,

Lord Silvere

Congrats on getting a prompt answer and a 'Yes', LR -- I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

I had no interest in this until this was mentioned - HP has some rather illustrious boots to fill. Eager to see what comes of this.
