Since Shiro and Wata have confirmed it works for people beyond me, I reinforce my campaign promise, I guess. It'll be an tedious week/month or so, but since it's basically three clicks a post, I think I can do it.

Oh. yeah, I was going to mention that, actually, I noticed that may have happened when I posted that one with the broken symbol and it interpreted it correctly. I forgot to because I was setting a joke for vex.
Any idea why the <a href> stuff doesn't work? It should be normal HTML text, right?

Oh, or did it just become normal text when the bot broke it? That'd make sense, too, I guess, and editing wouldn't fix that, since nothing would technically be wrong with it.
The bot only grabbed what was displayed, not what oTFF held in it's databases. To the bot, everything WAS an <a href> link, so it held to that.

BBcode is just an internal thing that's translated to HTML, the bot had no way of knowing about it.

Couldn't the original post authors do the same? Or is there a time limit on editing your own post?

They can, but most people can't be assed.

As Shiro said, most people probably couldn't be bothered to, and since (besides mods) only the actual poster can do it...yeah.

Besides, why do it when you can force someone else to suffer through it? That's why you should vote Ryuugi--if you do, I'll make a thread so you can all monitor my progress and watch me suffer. Do it, because you hate me.

Lots and lots of posts need fixing.

But seriously all you need to do is edit, do nothing whatsoever to the contents, and then save the changes?

And you were making fun of me for claiming I could do it in a day.

Well, to be fair, Vex, doing it in one day would still probably be pretty hard. Not impossible, with a quick computer and ctrl+F, but pretty close to it--I mean, I imagine I'm gonna hate Daneel a little bit, if I end up doing it. Especially in that one thread.

Don't break out the champangne Ryuugi. The board can't tell the difference between quotation marks and apostrophes.
...Sounds like a better reason to break out the Champagne. Ryuugi's going to need himself a drink to get through this.

LOL

Still, If Ryuugi does win, he has quite a ways to go. Not impossible though. I've seen Chrono go from 3rd to a clear first overnight.

Good luck to you two.

Yes, and that swift influx of twenty votes was in no way suspicious.

In no way.

None.

At all.

Are you referring to me and several others asking our voters to transfer to Chrono?

I don't see how it's any different than what you did a handful of posts ago when you ceded the race.

Woke up from sleep about 2 hours ago. I ... think I'm in a state of shock with the current standings. Never did I even imagine things to reach where they currently are.

It's not a good idea to make statements (or at least promises) when you have emotion running through your veins, but there is one simple matter I can address right now,

On the matter of fixing the garbled posts.

I have no idea if I'm up-to the task or not. Sure, I'd love to have them all fixed but I really don't know what it entails. Considering what Shirotsume's been doing over the past few weeks, I imagine that if it were a simple task, he would have done so already.

Please assume that I will NOT go about trying to 'fix' any of the story formatting issues if voted in as a moderator.

Sure, I'd love to have it done but I'm not going to make promises about something I have no idea on. I'm more interested in attracting new authors to TFF and making this a fun place for fanfiction discussion and creation (think I've mentioned this before too).

And to all who've voted/shifted their votes to me - I'll do my best to be worthy of your trust.

Don't think too highly of it, those votes became yours based only on your overwhelming "Not Vex" and "Not Ryuugi" attributes.

Don't rag on the guy just because no one cares to vote for you or Ryuugi. In my personal opinion, I'd trust Chrono to do a better job of moderating than either you or Ryuugi. Don't turn this into a personal attack fest just because you lost.

No offense to Chrono, but more than one of the people voting for him already turned this into a personal attack fest as early as the previous poll.

And two wrongs do not make a right.

I don't know about other voters, but I've made my preferences clear and why. Chrono and Ryuugi have, to my knowledge, not made any personal attacks on other candidates. Neither have any of the other candidates, unless I missed something glaring.

Vex is the only person who has become needlessly antagonistic when it was made clear that not very many people desired to see him become a moderator. It is not chrono's fault, nor any other candidate's fault, that he did not win.

Sigh. It's probably a good thing that Wata is admin and not me. Had it been me, I'd have canned this whole poll and issued a stern verbal warning to all involved, along the lines of 'chill out and start thinking rationally, THEN you can vote again'.

Which, honestly, wouldn't have been wholly undeserved given the tone this thing has taken.

Forcing a recount and extending the shitstorm would probably be the worst possible action. This thing ends in...38 hours? After that, if anyone is still being an idiot you can take action.

The majority of the problem (I believe) is the "silly campaigning" gone too far and taken too seriously. I realize that I'm one of the initial instigators of that, and I'm sorry that it's taken a turn for the worse of late...but seriously, it's a friggin election for a forum mod. On a fanfiction forum, one famous for its anti-moderator attitude. Taking the thing seriously is against the entire spirit of the board.

Seriously, 38 hours. Then we can go back to whatever faffing about it is we normally do.

My problem is that right now people are voting out of hatred, not necessarily out of who they think would be the best mod. That's NOT a good way to vote a mod, or a good state of mind to vote at all. Last time a lot of people hate-voted here in Italy, it got us Berlusconi as president, and I don't need to tell you how THAT turned out.
