Pro-tip for Wizard: You really want your post to be confrontational, don't imply that those who disagree with you are Nazis. That's a red flag if I ever saw one.
That aside, I've seldom seen a purely destructive criticism of Hill of Swords. Here are the more common ones:
1. Shirou's characterization is not canon. (Valid literary criticism)
2. Shirou's characterization is antagonistic to the reader. (Valid personal preference)
3. Shirou's characterization crosses the Moral Event Horizon as a protagonist. (Valid personal preference)
4. The plot is linear and predictable despite the change of protagonists. (Valid literary criticism)
5. The protagonist is granted Deus Ex Machina as the author sees fit. (Valid literary criticism)
And that's just the beginning.
Now I don't know about you, but these aren't destructive criticisms. They're pretty much what you can expect from any literature club, your Lit 101 teacher, or a professional editor. There is, of course, a difference between a "negative criticism" and a "destructive criticism". Most negative criticisms aren't destructive.
I agree with 1/2/3,
I disagree with four partially, in HOS, the overall plot was reasonabl predictable true, but still enjoyable, but individual interactions and such were less predictable.
Also, I have no fucking clue where he's going with his new fic but its awesome, so at least that part of HOS has been fixed imo.
Five... I dunno. Personally I saw very little that I couldn't see archer being capable of. Admittedly the biggest of these was his battle with the Jormundgand which had him use more NP's of high enough class than he should have been even nearly capable of.
However, I was able to justify that to myself as a case of 'LOLGANDALFR'
Not saying its a particularly good justification, but it worked for me personally.
Also, I never said those who disagree with me are Nazi's, to be exact, I said that you could be a Nazi and hate the fic as much as you like, so long as you didn't post about your hate evry time a new update was posted ( And personally, I see spewing hate everywhere as a Nazi type thing to do) . Admittedly that was a little rude, but I don't think that saying you dislike a fic once or twice, then just not paying attention to continued updates of said fic is an unreasonable thing to do. To reformat my initial statement somewhat 'Hate the fic as much as you like, but please don't post about your hate every time someone posts a new update in the update thread, or if you must, make a Fanfiction discussion thread, so I don't have to read about said hate every time I check for updates.' Is that better ^^?
Its not like I'm blind to the Problems HOS had, I just don't think of them as problems.
Honestly, I personally read fanfiction for a different experience with either a setting, character, or plot that i know. HOS provided me that, and at the same time was extremely well written, and rather well thought out considering the Author had literally only Watched the Anime and played a little of one route.
What bothers me about OOC, is OOC without reason. If My character has exactly the same experiences as Canon character A, but turns out to be a Machiavellian mastermind in fanfic B, I will go 'What the fuck' and be unable to enjoy the fanfiction.
However if an Unnamed amount of time has passed since happy fool A turned into Villian B, I can fill in the character changes myself and continue to enjoy the fiction.
Or even better, if actual on screen reasons for changes are given.
