Gundam 00 season 2

I mean hell they built two additional GN drives to power the new Ptolemias, why not go the extra mile and have a back-up contingency plan with extra-Gundams.
...No, the Ptolemaios has a crapload of GN Condensors but it has no GN Drives. GN Drives can only be built on Jupiter and also take 100 years to make.

Celestial Being only has 5 drives. They took their fifth one from Fereshte who were using it to power 2nd Generation Gundams like the Plutone and Astraea in order to carry out Black-Ops missions.

Mobile Suit Gundam 00F.

A side manga that shows the series from another viewpoint.

Yet another (successful) attempt by Sunrise to make money. There's another manga called 00P that shows Celestial Being's early history and the development of the 2nd Generation Gundams.

WoW Sajii definitely goes on my list as one of the most useless characters of all time after episode 5. He definitely needs to die soon.

The irony in ep 6 literally almost had me rolling on the floor laughing. Blew my mind as usual.

I'm sympathetic to Saji.

He no doubt had it the worse thus far and he doesn't even pilot or anything. I mean he's the first angst relief I've ever come across. e_e

The sad part about it is that Saji is just a guy trying to do the right thing. I'd trust Sergei too, not my fault if some guy wants to eavesdrop and be a hero. e_e For real though, just think about his character for a bit. Even if it was unintentional, he just played a role in having people mass murdered. He just saw people killed because of something he did so I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't so quick to kill someone with his own hands. Also, by pulling the trigger, he's not just aiming to take a life but he's also condoning the actions of CB that he had been against for years.

It's not a matter of being useless or indecisive. He honestly wants to help and he is only hesitating because a man can't throw away his principles on a whim.

And gunning down his girlfriend.

The angst will reach even higher levels ;)

Am I the only one that had a wtf moment at the cliffhanger leading into a flashback/character-development episode about a completely different character than the one the cliffhanger centered around?

It's like: "Will Saji pull the trigger? Who cares! We've got Soma. Soma! Soma! Soma! Oh, and that Allelujah guy is in there too."

Seriously though. Unless Hallelujah comes back, next episode is going to suck balls compared to the ones so far. Soma/Marie just isn't engaging enough for her past to carry an entire episode.

Also, before I forget. Who else lol'd at Colonel Jr's "A girl..."?

Gundam 00 S2 so far has disappointed me. There have been two episodes where it shined; first where we got Terminator!Exia. That was pure fucking badass. And the second when Exia-00 went online.

Everything has been dull, mundane and EMO. Emo fails! There's good angst; like Eva-angst, where it was more psychological fuck-up angst than angst. Then there's bad emo-angst; Saji angst.

Timewave is unhappy.

Gundam 00 has never really grabbed me anyway. The only place where it really shines is in the no holds barred battles, but there's so much pointless exposition and attempted (and failed) political intrigue in between those, that it tends to feel like it's trying to be deeper than it is.

It doesn't help that the protagonist is boring and has no real interesting qualities. Actually, the same goes for the antagonist now.

Basically, I was hoping S2 was going to make up for all the things that annoyed and prevented me from enjoying the series in S1, but so far all it is is an extension of the last season, with nothing new brought to the table, and just as many pointless scenes and characters that won't actually end up affecting the overall plot (*cough*Saji*cough*Louise*cough-hack*).

I really want to like 00. I want to like it as much as I liked Code Geass, but they really need to find some semblance of a solid plot, and stop adding crap that doesn't relate to it in any way.

Tieria is quite possibly the biggest trap I have ever seen.

And FUCK YEAR, Ali is back along with Patrick!

Loran, eat your heart out.
It is at moments like these I question why they didn't make Tieria a girl.
Fuck you Sunrise. :p

I'm loving the show besides the whole AlelujahxMarie thing, everything about it felt forced.

The only thing we saw the Gadessa do was shoot it's rifle. We haven't seen it do anything besides that. So I'm not making my judgment quite yet. I will say that the thing looks like Tallgeese.

But am I the only one freaked out by the Innovators? All of them so far besides Ribbons have female voices, yet are said to be male. Why doesn't Sunrise just call them female or sexless?

It was stated that the Innovators can go both ways so I would assume that they can control in someway what gender they are...
Which would explain how Trap!Tieria made me sexually confused for few seconds.

By the way, has anyone seen the manga?
The writers seem to have a fascination with pairing Setsuna with older women.

And no, I can't translate japanese, but someone said that Setsuna's last lines sound like something out of a dating sim or a shoujo manga and are probably shopped...
But I beg to differ, note the blush her face.

Edit: Dammit, must find a larger image.

Yeah, it was mentioned somwhere that innovators aren't just cybered, but have a shitload of nanotech and weren't born but actually artificially grown, which Regetta actually confirms stating they were mady specifically for Aeolia's plan. Which actually makes me wonder just what was the old man thinking.

For one, Celestial Being was supposed to be destroyed. Actually, givng the goal was to unite the world, it is feasible - let out a 'monster' (which Celestial Being having ridiculously overpowered machines was at the time) and then make sure everyone want to defeat it. In that context, even Thrones make a lot of sense. But then Aeolia goes and installs something like Trans Am system and states that he leaves his 'will' with Celestial Being's Gundam Meisters? Doesn't add up.

Not to meniton Tiera, an Innovator who has absolutely no idea about all this and was sent to Celestial Neing? It is clear that Ribbons or even Regene didn't consider Tiera becoming so tight with his friends, given how surprised and amused by it Regene was. The implication Tiera had a crush on Lockon also seemed to both amaze and amuse Ribbons.

Also, Gundam Meisters themselves make litte sense. If one just wanted very efficient pilots, Innovators ahd shown themselves to be that and CB clearly had no problems employing at least one. But instead they almost went out of their way to pick people who are no doubt talented but have their faults. On the other hand, they are idoelogically 'sold' on what they know of Aeolia's plan, and CB gave them a genius strategist in person of Sumeragi who eats most of the top military specialist for breakfest save for Cathy and Sergiei (and so far she still won against both almost every time they clashed). A little strange group to pick to 'fail' - those kind of people have a habit of surviving.

I think Aeolia's plan is deeper than what even Innovators can understand. Which would explain why Ribbons seems fustrated on occasion - he can still feel Aeolia's strings tied to his arms even after geting rid of the old man.

Don't forget also that, while the innovators knew about trans-am, they knew jack shit about the twin drive. And given how Ribbons said Aeolia's name upon seeing the 00, methinks Ribbons, at least, is not above modifying Aeolia's plan to be more to his convenience. Given all the dialogue between Ribbons, Regetta and Tieria, I'm thinking that Ribbons is making his own plan, Regetta is trying to advance Aeolia's, and Tieria, being part of CB, will most likely play the role of tie-breaker once he/she/it/OMGWTFTENTACLES finnaly make up his mind.

Halleluja is BAAAAAAAAACCCCK! Finally, Alleluja's emoness/lovesickness was making me rage.

Here's my theory on the Twin Drive system, an epiphany I had after watching ep 10. Note that a lot of this is conjecture, based of Wikipedia, and seemingly irrelevant stuff. Possible spoiler warnings, though I won't be so conceited so as to believe I come even remotely close to the real stuff.

I think that the Twin Drive system is 00's Zero system. However, instead of connecting its pilot to the world of infinite possibilities, Twin Drive connects the pilot to literally the "world" itself- people's thoughts. A lot of this theory is based of the except on the Gundam 00 Wikipedia entry that has someone comparing this to a modern adapted version of Gundam Wing, which I personally think makes a lot of sense given the large similarities between the series.

One of the biggest questions so far in the series has been, what are the GN particles? They've been proven to be able to form physical shields/barriers, disrupt transmissions, and of course, power the Gundams and their weapons. Based off episode 10, I am also willing to belive that GN particles can transmit thoughts in the form of quantum brainwaves.

The thought first struck me at the end of episode 10. We see the two people capable of understanding and using quantum brainwaves, Allelujah and Marie, go under some crazy shit. Marie somehow sees the death of Colonel Smirnov thousands of miles away while Hallelujah is revived. Of course, all this happens in areas with a high concentration of GN particles; 00's 0-Raiser test is releasing phenomenal amounts of GN particles and I think Memento Mori is a giant laser of concentrated GN particles (probably wrong on this point). Hallelujah actually even says (according to the gSS subs) "The particles are speeding up toward me...Damn it, can't even let me sleep quietly." This made me think that GN particles are somehow capable of transmitting or amplifying quantum brainwaves.

Here's where it gets a little sketchy. IF GN particles are capable of interacting with quantum brainwaves, what ramifications does this have for the Twin Drive System, whose main purpose is to generate ass-loads of GN particles? It means that Gundam 00 becomes the conduit for the entirety of humanities' thoughts. Remember that quantum brainwaves can read the emotions and feelings of normal people; Marie does this earlier in 00 with Louise.

This, taken in the context of 00, actually makes a surprising amount of sense. A major theme in 00 is to unify the will of the world- how better to do it than by forming a collective conscience? Suddenly, Setsuna's constant referral to Gundam as a separate entity has a deeper meaning- Gundam represents the unified will of the world. Aeolia's final ace was to create a means of unifying the world without using force, by circumventing any obstacles and simply creating a place where all thoughts could come together. Gundam and it's pilot then become the executors of this will. He doesn't only entrust his will with the Gundam Meisters, but the entire world's.

Some supplementary stuff that could be considered making mountains out of molehills:

First, further evidence that GN particles react with quantum brainwaves. In ep 2, even after installing Exia's GN drive, the Twin Drive System doesn't work until Setsuna actually says "Awaken 00" or something along those lines (too lazy to go back and check). You can either believe that by forcing it into Trans-Am Setsuna gave 00 a "jumpstart" or that his thoughts, his emotions caused 00 to awaken. This theory is further supported by the title of the upcoming Ep 11, "Daburu- no Koe" or "Voice of 00."

Second, more stuff on 00 as a conduit. This might seem really extraneous, but in the ED "Prototype" the song refers to a "hikari no sonzai" or literally, a being of light. The line translated as a whole (courtesy of gSS) is "The being of light resting within the glass case is so hard to perceive." As a GN particle generator, 00 is quite literally, an existence of light particles. It certainly looks that way when it awakens in Ep 2. 00 is turned into a "being" through the collection of human thought perceived through GN particles. Yes, I know that ED/OPs aren't necessarily tailored to deep content in the anime itself, but it's worth a shot.
