Haven't read that fic, but apparently that's the actual name of Shiva. Shiva was a mistranslation, the name probably being "Shiver" written in Japanese.
I've never seen it written as Shiver anywhere. Shiva would make a lot more sense since there are a lot of espers named after gods or related to mythology:

Ifrit, Odin, Asura, Bahamut, Gilgamesh, Titan, Leviathan,...

No, Shiva would be correct. Shiver might have been how they wrote it in the Japanese (maybe?) but Shiva is still the English name for the Hindu Deity.

Except that it's written as ???, which is Shiva in romaji.

That's why I try to use things like "apparently" and "so I hear" for things I'm not certain about. I just remember reading that somewhere about her name. I've can't read Japanese in any form.

And apprently not very good at English either.

It's just 324 words. If some of us try, we could probably fit all that onto a forum post.

Standards just keep falling ...

The point I was trying to make is that it can't be good.
In other news, we seem to be living in a weird world where 4 > 324. Didn't really pay attention, but NuitTombee appears to be more intelligent on that count.

Here are two quick questions for everyone here.

1) Have you ever liked a fic, then a few years pass, you go back to it and try to remember what you were smoking/drinking to make that look good?

2) Has anyone here writen something and after a few years go by, you reread your old stuff and wish there was some Napalm nearby to destroy your old work?

Yes, to both. In spades. I suspect most (or all) of the other writers here will agree.

NDF's spoken for all of us. At least, those writers who keep trying to improve themselves. There is a special class of idiots who like to delude themselves into thinking that their work is the very best ... but I don't want to talk about them.

Thank you all for the replies. Glad to know I am not alone in this. Been thinking about salvaging one or two of my older fics and trying again. Maybe.

I would not mind more of 'Chains of the Past'... That was of your works that I have read IMHO the best of them...

On the first, Yes very much so. I semm to have lost my nostolgia glasses somewhere recently.

On the second, it tends to only take a few days to a couple weeks for the initial dose of narcissism to where off enough that I can genuinly see just how shitty my writing is, at witch point I ponder if there is a substance that can burn hot enough to rid myself of any trace of it's existence.

The following one is pointless and the plot doesn't make any sense at all.

Furinkan Gets a New Principal ?by triviatrap1982 reviews
The good news Misuzu Daimon decided she was going to accept a job at Furinkan High. The bad news, she has no idea on what she's in for.

This one is too horrible for words. I'd like to read a nice Mermaid!Ranma fic, but this one... I don't know how to call it. I just want to say that Ranma and the rest of his real family are apparently total retards. Additionally, the story doesn't make much sense at all. Retarded ideas, bad spelling and grammar and the author apparently doesn't know how to use capital letters.

Ranma The Mermaid ?by kellym01 reviews
what happened when ranma was kidnapped a few months after birth by genma and nodoka from ariel, eric and melody...now 17 years old he has a strange dream and meets his true family and discovers his true heritage, what could possibly go wrong? A/N i do not own ranma 1/2 or the little mermaid rated T just in case plz R&R

Edit:

I just looked at the author's profile and when I look at the summaries of his other fics I'm getting sick.

Additionally he mentions in his profile that he's dyslexic. Anyone noticed how many bad authors write that in their profiles? Probably just an excuse.

batgirl 12 second version by recon12 reviews
What would happen if Ranma wanted to fight batgirl? What lengths would he go to to make this happen? What would he learn on this journey to another life yet to be explored? warning may contain violence and bad launguge with slight nudeatey in later chapter rated PG-15 zero lemon pareing may or may not have one depends on how the story goes.
Crossover - Batman & Ranma - Rated: T - English - Adventure/Crime - Chapters: 1 - Words: 4,699 - Reviews: 1 - Favs: 2 - Follows: 1 - Published: 2-1-13 - Cassandra C. & Ranma
The summary alone shows how much the story sucks. A lot of what ifs and spelling mistakes.

Still, I thought a Ranma as a Batgirl story might be interesting, but the way it's handled?

I'll just post my review here and you'll get an idea of some of the things that are wrong with this story. I don't know why but I'm becoming less and less tolerant of fics that disappoint me.

- The Batman family are mostly urban legends and I honestly doubt that Japanese TV would air a report on Batgirl, especially since the Bat Family tries to stay hidden.

- Ranma seriously thinks that Batgirl is a match for him? She isn and I doubt he would think that. Batgirl is just a well-trained athlete and a good fighter with no superpowers whatsoever. Ranma would be considered a metahuman in the DC Universe. He can lift several tons, has superhuman speed and can jump higher than a house. He very durable and even survives a house falling down on him. He can shoot ki balls, can create tornadoes and punch at an impressive speed. He also a master martial artist. He would destroy Batgirl without any trouble in a straight up fight. She might have a chance if she can prepare herslef and figure out Ranma weaknesses, but even then I doubt it.

- I also doubt Ranma would just let one of his school mates use drugs without interfering.

- Where the police? Ranma sees drugs dealers everywhere and the police does nothing? This is Japan. I don think police would just let it go.

- Nabiki is afraid and Akane is getting more and more violent and her eyes have a yellow hue to them. And Ranma does nothing? He noticed all the drug sellers and can make the connection? He may be dense sometimes, but come on.

- He laos noticed before that Nabiki behaves strangely and yet he doesn come up with the simple idea of following her around to see what she up to?

- Wait! There a costume shop in Nerima that just so happens to sell Batgirl costumes, and different models to boot? What a coincidence. Sorry, but I don buy it. And the cheapest one is also the best? Doesn make any sense.

- And look at that. There even a shop selling batarangs. Would he be even allowed to buy any? He a minor.

- Ranma having troubles defeating the druggies? Something else I highly doubt. Or is the drug even better than the oneBane uses?

- Don tell me Nabiki bleieves Akane has only been taking proteins. No, seriously. She probably deeply involved in all of this.

- Kasumi comes in a manages to calm a berserker Akane just like that? And she doesn even wonder why Akane acts like that?

- Wait! Ranma takes Nabiki to Tofu and really thinks that Akane has just been taking some protein pills? That just bull. Come on, no one will believe that.

- sidered himself the big man on campus, come on. Don tell me it Kuno or Gosunkugi. Il scream if it is. I think I know where youe going with this. The Kuno family are a yakuza family, and that where they got their money from.

EDIT: Just noticed it's not Barbara Gordon. Still, most of the points I brought up apply anyway.

Police practically never show up in Ranma (or Sailor Moon and other super powered martial arts and magical girl shows, for that matter).

I know. But we're talking about drug dealers here, not martial arts fights.

Yes...but you are talking a cross with a series where the police are not used.

The issue is simple,if the police are present, and credible enough to show for a drug deal... why would they not show for other crimes... if they did, both super powered martial artists and magical girl vigilantes would all need to be arrested and tossed in the jail.. after all, being a vigilante is a crime.

So... to get around this, you would not have police showing up in stories involving these shows unless it is as cannon fodder or they are being rescued by said groups.

And Ranma 1/2 is crossed with a comic where cops exist. So I don't see why there shouldn't be any in Tokyo.
