Ranma gets cured.
Wait, in the first chapter itself? Slay the author! <_<

-chronodekar
Depends on how it's done. Rana trekking and discovering a cure is one thing. Ranma given a deus ex machina cure with no drawbacks or strings attached is contrived storytelling at best.
So, given this latest turn in the thread, was the 'cure' in 'My Immortal' a story killer? Or was it Naru/Ranma that killed the fic early for most of you?

I hope you are referring to your own fic,

<a href='http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6289931/1/My_Immortal' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6289931/1/My_Immortal</a>

Just found it. I'm too tired to read it now, but ... well, as mentioned by others, it's not curing Ranma that's the problem. (Or at least, not the only problem). Rather, if he just "gets" a cure without any effort, THAT's an issue.

Also an issue if he gains any "godly" powers, but can't cure his curse. That's hypocrisy right there!

And I don't think this is a "new turn" for us. I've been under the impression that a lot of us feel this way for a very long time now.

meh, i liked it because your 'cure' is not a cheap solution but a worse curse, OTOH i really felt that you wanted to do much in the post LH part of the fic and for me it became Meh... so many plots that you could have finished (or are derailed by the ew things going on) like the resolution with Shinobu, a real breakup between Naru and Ranma, Chao, Eva, Mana's mindwipe.
and then the introduction of things that do not make sense (yet..) like Saffron, the interaction with Kiima, the Terminator-like Ranma Jr. and the 'promise/wish/curse' made by Otohime.
so honestly i'll just wait until it's finished and then i'll read it if i can be arsed to to it.

This one's simply horrible

One Sided Battle by Akane Mosoa
Ranma learns that he is engaged to at least thirteen women all of whome are willing to share. The dillusional Shampoo uses an ancient artifact to try to get Ranma but sends him and every one else their to another instead. M for possible future lemons.
Crossover - Ranma & Wheel of Time - Rated: M - English - Adventure/Drama - Chapters: 1 - Words: 4,575 - Published: 1-2-12 - Ranma
Things wrong with this fic apart from the usual clichÚs?

Ranma is part Juraian (from Nodoka's side; how original), part saiyan, and he might be a Jinchuuriki (of course, well... why not. After all while the author's already at it Ranma could also be related to Belldandy, Hild, or maybe even Galactus, or the Flying Spaghetti Monster).

Ranma gets 14 girls (of which he doesn't know a single one except the Tendo sisters) witout any logic exdept for the author's twisted fantasy (At the end of the chapter Tsunade says that apparently the girls don't mind sharing). Honestly, I can't see how these pairings are supposed to work or why they would be willing to share.

Paitings in this fic:

Pairing1: Ranma X Akane/Nabiki/Kasumi/Nodoka/Pan/Sasami/Chibi Usa/Minako/Haruka/Michuru/Skuld/Urd/Tenten/Hermione

Pairing2: OC X Ami/Rei/Matoko/Setsuna/Hataru/Hinata/Sakura/Ino/ Kurenai/Ginny

Pairing3: Gohan X Videl
Of course there's the OC who's your typical Gary-Stu. Below are the statistics and other information about Ranma and the OC. No idea how Ranma is supposed to measure up to the OC.

It's really nice when the author is so consistently awful that you can tell his story is shit simply by reading the summary.

Possible future lemons... where's Cave Johnson when you need one?

THAT .... summary, makes me want to drag the story out to the backyard, tie it to a tree and shoot it in the rear a few times, before moving to the front to finish the beast off.

And then, throwing the carcass at the author who spawned it. Or, if I'm feeling really nasty, force-feed it to him/her.

As NDF would say, "Ugh!"

Heh. I wonder how many yaoi fangirls will give positive reviews. I think that the yaoi fangirl is the biggest plague humanity has ever been inflicted with.

SpunkAnimeDolphin - with a nickname like that, I think the author is just trolling.

The question remains, is it in the vein of 'A Bad Idea Was Kidnap', or is it yet another 'ranma, curest spring of drowned inmortal'?

I now remember why I stopped reading the anime addventure. It was because of how stupid Anduril is. He makes me so freaking angry with his "extrapolation is bad only when it's not me doing it" style arguments.

I haven't read it, but the summary is confusing me and just urges me to find the author and get medieval on his ass

System Error by Chezmonkey
A sort of "Self Insertion," except with an OC instead. Heaven is crashing, and an unlikely and slightly unwilling hero is sent to find the needed parts to fix the problem... even though he doesn't have a clue how to do so. First Fanfic

Hmmm... confusing, Belldandy is a rep for the *Rival* Relief Office, decided to pull a guy from apparently reality into heaven, give him a *prerecoreded* but *interactive* message, cheerfully telling his of massive failures and deaths occuring, and to go out and find one of three parts of a stolen core of Yggrasil...

Hmmm... listed as Ranma crossover, but no Ranma yet, I'm to assume that will be the first world sent to.

Possibly off-topic, but what is the general consensus around here when an author mentions "first fanfic" in either their summary or story?

As in, do you just ignore it, or be a bit lenient in your reviews? or are you annoyed with it ? or anything else?

Curious,

I'm neutral on that particular point.

I'm much more apprehensive when the summary contains these kind of sentences:

"I know my summary sucks but the story is great".
Usually they add "Trust me" which is usually a very bad sign.

"My story sucks but I hope you'll enjoy it anyway".

"'What if...? What if...? What if...?"

Also, anytime an author uses the word 'certain' in summary. "Certain redhead". "Certain pig-tailed boy". "Certain gender-bender named Ranma who is the main character of this freaking story".
