And that fic named above may be being plagiarized.
Are you talking about <a href='http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4863419/1/bRanma_b_Joins_the_23rd_World_Martial_Arts_bTournament_b' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>Ranma Joins the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament</a>?

This is probably one of the crappiest fics ever. Unfortunately, due to a lack of interesting reading material I read the latest chapter.

The information I got in this chapter: there'a Gary-Stu running around in Nerima who pwns everyone. Somehow female Ranma fell in love with him and is on a plane to China to ask Herb to lock the curse. At the end of the chapter the Tendos get pictures of a naked Ranma chained to a wall (with female Herb in the same condition) and the two have just been raped. Apparently the Gary-Stu has agents there who took the photo (no explanation as to why he has agents there and why they haven't intervened)

What else? Apparently Akane and Kuno are together and at the end we learn that Nodoka was a ninja and has the honor to to transform Akane into a ki master (apparently it's not a problem for her to do that in a day or two).

From one review I learrnt that apparently Akane killed Ryoga (?!)

Is there anything NOT to hate about this one? I admit that I haven't read it, but honestly, would anyone of you risk it? First of all it's Ranma/DBZ, which is already pretty much autofail. When I look at the pairing I seriously doubt it would work. But the biggest problem for me is that I can't really see Ranma having a spot in this. Either this will be a Ranma bashfic or Ranma will somehow be turned into a saiyan (like always).

Honestly? When I first saw THAT on FF.net, I felt like butchering the idiot who wrote it. Then 3 seconds later, I saw the classification.

Now, I'll just "barely tolerate" it, because it looks to be crack. BUT, I still feel like crushing something.

Something like that yes. Though he probably claimed he was trying to 'bring more attention' to the original stories.

If he hates it so much why is he writing? I'm surprised he spelled those few words correctly. It's the last sentence of the second chapter of this fic

That's it?

"Ranma talks to Nabki at a cafe"

That is the whole summery? I've seen fanwank WITH better summaries. This is, mind you, without having read the actual stories. They probably were just as bad inside.

My own thoughts EXACTLY. After reading so many stories, it's almost a fair bet now, that, smaller the summary, the better the story. Though, as this has proven otherwise, it doesn't always hold true.

Here's another abomination

Ranma Saotome and the Philosopher's Stone by Phoebe.Luvs.Yew reviews
Ranma is the girl who lived. Wait Girl? Harry potter not chosen one. Ron!bashing. Major abuse from Tendo's. Saw lot's of stories thought I'd do one. Good!Draco Nice!Severus. Includes Magical Ryoga, Kasumi, and more. Akane!Bashing T for Detailed Child abuse
Crossover - Ranma & Harry Potter - Rated: T - English - Adventure/Fantasy - Chapters: 1 - Words: 5,024 - Reviews: 4 - Published: 11-22-11
What's so bad about this one? I'll tell you (and I really should have stopped right after reading the author's note).

OK! I wanted to make this story because I read these all the time and I think there cool. Ron!Bashing (Ron same place that Draco had over Trio, Now not a trio..lol, yes RanmaxRyoga in later books!, Draco has Ron's place. Ranma is the girl who lived.)

There's someone called Nadoka Saotome. An OC? I've never heard of a Nadoka Saotome before.

The story is boring. The author simply copy/pasted the first chapter of the novel and replaced the names of the main characters with the Ranma (and forgot to do it twice). It's really easy to see the difference in writing quality between the author's own writings and the original text.

McGonagall calls Dumbledore 'Dumbledore' all the time. That's really annoying since I remember her always calling him by his first name in the books.

The Dursleys have been replaced by Soun, his wife and Akane and the three have exactly the same personalities as the Dursleys.

Ranma somehow got changed into a girl when Voldie tried to kill him with no reason given so far.

The author has announced that this will be a Ranma/Ryoga story (as if there weren't already enough of those at ff.net).

No explanation given as to why the Tendos and Saotomes would be living in England. Soun has a dojo and is the director of the Grunnings company. Why would he have a dojo if he's exactly like Vernon? I doubt that a dojo would fit into the Dursley's perfect world.

Then there's the passage where the wizards are whispering about the Potters in the book. This time they are whispering about the Saotomes and their son Ranma, and apparently Soun thinks that Saotome is a common name (in England? I really doubt it).

Conclusion: don't read it.

I saw that story and immediately thought of this thread.

I've always wondered why, if someone hates the original story so much, are they still involved in it? If the only way for you to enjoy the story is to change practically every major character, you don't like the story.

and the next chapter is even worse. Akane's best friend is called Kudachi. Probably another OC. Never heard of that girl before.

Apparently Ranma went through the neko-ken. No explanationas to why? Probably just to show what bastards the Tendos are.

What else? Everything that happened to Harry in his youth happened to Ranma (includes hair regrowing, accidental apparating,...)

Ranma's best firends are Mousse, Shampoo, Ryoga, and Ukyo. No explanation given as to why they are in England.

The zoo snake's name is 'Diego'. No idea why the author bothered to name it, except if it should play a role in the story later. The snake calls Ranma 'warrior princess'... IN JAPANESE!!! I wonder why since so far it looks like the only thing Ranma can do is run away. No hint of any martial arts knowledge.

Horrible sentence:

She was used to spiders, the closet in the cupboard under the stairs (The Tendo's are rich, the Cupboards like a room and the closets like a cupboard, but with no sunlike, or any light fixture.)
Here's another gem, the description of Ranma's appearance

Ranma had high cheek bones, a thinish face, already budding chests and almost perfect hips for a 13 year old,elf ears, long firey crimson hair that she had to keep pulled back in a UN-attractive pigtail, and chocolate brown eyes.
Okay, somehow Ranma is 13 years old (although she was 11 before) with no explanation given, has elf years (!?) and no blue eyes. No explanation given once again.

I wonder what stupid ideas the author will come up with next.

When I read the author note I'm really tempted to do something nasty, but I'm trying my best to resist.

THIS is crime enough to troll the author! Cliff hangers from a cliff .... SHEESH. How LAME!!

Though, admittedly, it CAN be done well, the reputation of the story so far makes me want to look at it with a critical eye, as opposed to a more subjective view-point.

@iiowyn,

Lay off the turtle, his quotes give me perspectives which I appreciate. My most favorite one so far -

The problem I have with this one is that I don't understand why it's posted in the Ranma section. I searched the first free chapters for 'Ranma' but couldn't find any mention of him.

As for this one, there are no spelling or grammar problems but a definite lack of originality. Although in this fic Nodoka is not Mystique Ranma is once again the son of Wolverine (and even got an adamantium skeleton). There are also a lot of the usual Ranma clichÚs like Ukyo getting disowned by her father and adopted ny Nodoka (who in the meantime has divorced Genma).

Apart from that there's one thing that really turned me off. Ranma gets cured.

Depends on how it's done. Rana trekking and discovering a cure is one thing. Ranma given a deus ex machina cure with no drawbacks or strings attached is contrived storytelling at best.

#75
Deux ex machina cure prevention, i.e. ridiculously powerful magic sources (Yggdrasil, Ginzuishou, etc.) being unable to eliminate the curse for no good reason, is equally if not more contrived.
