Good, the Springfield blood runs true in this one :D

So the "guys" did run some interference, so he wouldn't suffocate

Ok, so Asuna-chan is more possesive of him now that he doesn't live in her room, niice, would that extend to konoka-chan as well, she does have a sweet spot for the boy as well :yay:

Yes, those scenes with Zazie-chan and her "friends" were hillarious, especially when Sayo-chan joins her :D.

Carry on, please :hail:

another snippet

Zazie allowed herself the smallest sigh as she slipped out of the guidance counselorÆs office. They had covered a lot of topics today, several she wasn't greatly comfortable with. It seemed all attempts to conceal her classroom performance did not stop Shizuna from getting the news of her continued zoning out. After the lecture questions turned back to her life and her sensei... the acrobat had intended to bridge the topic to what the Ringmaster had spoken of the night before. When the time came though, an uncomfortable feeling settled in and she kept the questions to herself. The stomach flutters were nice sometimes but more often then not came as a hindrance. It was a wonder that talking to Negi-sensei was possible at all. Gathering herself she headed out into the hall, no wasted movement as she began to head straight back to the dorms... at least that was the plan, it was hard to move forward with someone standing in your way.

"Asakura-san."

"Ah Zazie, Just the girl I wanted to see." The reported offered wide grin. "Are you free for a moment?"

"I have no current plans."

"Good, then walk with me." she offered with a motion of her arm. Zazie was reluctant at first but moved into step after only a slight hesitation. Curiosity most clearly in her reasoning. Kazumi said nothing at first marveling at the lack of sound from her companion, even when she moved... It was admirable.

I wonder if she spies on people in her free time?

"Well I know we don't talk much and until recently you were doing on hell of a job of avoiding notice. I thought I could put out the olive branch, I think I can help you out."

"Help?" Her expression hardly changed, she was so naturally blank it made her hard to read. Kazumi pushed on, hoping she'd caught the girl's interest.

"Well I know the girls have been giving you a hard time lately, so I figured maybe I could be an intermediary for you... Take some of the pressure off, you know?" A foxy grin and a wink kept the tone light, trying to make Zazie comfortable. "You seemed uncomfortable when everyone comes up to you-"

"I'm fine." here replied was fast and too the point cutting the reporters smooth dialog. She recovered easily enough, chuckling it off.

"Sure... You SAY that, but it's not like I can't see." The argument was met with silence. A lesser girl would have gotten frustrated, but Kazumi felt she was on the right path. "There's nothing wrong with enjoying your situation... many girls would kill to be in your position." she pressed lightly keeping only half and eye on the girl looking for some manner of cues.

The quiet girl gave the slightest of nods, though with no vocal statement it was hard to see exactly what she was agreeing to. This girl was a real challenge. If she hadn't spotted the light blushing back in class she'd be doubting her theory by now. She gave a casual shrug, not making light of her mental processes.

"Seems you're not up for it, but if you ever want to take me up on the offer, or just chat, my ear is open."

"...Mm," the girl replied with a small noise and nod. It was a start, now for round two.

"Eh Zazie. I was wondering if you could help me out with something." She turned to face her classmate glad to see she had her full attention. Not much of a talker but she seemed to be a good listener. "I've always been curious about the nightmare circus. I heard your only perform a few weeks out of there year but I ALSO heard that if your an invited guest you can visit the practice." she put on her best smile. Zazie held her with a neutral gaze.

"I can only invite one."

"That's not a problem I wasn't going to bring anyone."

"Taken..."

"What?" Kazumi blinked trying to understand what she meant. "You mean you going to invite Negi-sensei again?"

The acrobat turned her eyes away for a moment before bringing them back, it almost felt an accusing look despite the lack of expression. "I never said I invited Negi-sensei before."

"Ah..." Busted she chuckled nervously at the hint of a frown that grew on Zazie's face. "Well I heard you talking about it in class and..." Kazumi trailed off her cover up noting that for the first time in their meeting Zazie's attention was fully drawn somewhere else. Turning the reason was clear; Asuna was sprinting down the hall with Negi in hand. The poor boy looked roughed up, his jacket was missing and his shirt had seen better days. "Asuna... hm I wonder what that is about." In a sudden burst of activity Zazie took off with surprising speed, totally catching the reporter off guard. "H-hey wait up." Kazumi, hardly the most athletic girl in class, did her best to pick up ground slipping her digital camera from her bag... she couldn't help but feel this was going to get good.

Zazie was another case entirely, the image was clear in her mind. Asuna had been somewhat nasty as of late but that looked downright abusive... she always made a point to observing things carefully and not jumping to conclusions but the fluttering in her stomach spurred her into a much more impulsive action. If Negi needed help, no chances could be taken.

end snippet

Kazumi tries to get the inside scoop but doesn't get far. Asuna and negi are spotted and a misunderstanding is in the works... off the chaos is tasty.

this will defiantly lead to more high jinx, especially if the love potion is still in effect. It makes me wonder how long until Negi becomes aware of Zazie's friends and what other abilities Zazie has besides shadow minions and acrobatics.

here replied was fast and too the point cutting the reporters smooth dialog.

should be her

all in all a very good snippet

haauuuuh that was nice.

Just a question. Is zazie being affected by the potion too? Or is she like going to have a slight amount of resistance due to magic(?). Cause im assuming those introduced to magic were able to break free relatively easily...

otherwise it would have been so much more fun with mana, eva, and setsuna D:

anyways. nice snippet. hope to see more soon ^^

Man, Asuna is getting no respect.

I really like the new snippet. Zazie seems to be opening up a bit more, if Asakura was able to read her so much. Although that may not be a good thing if Zazie seriously decides to figure out how exactly the female Journalist figured out about Negi's visit to the nightmare circus.

*cackles*

Ladies and gentlemen, let the games begin. In the red corner, we have Kagurazaka Asuna... in the Blue Corner, Rainyday Zazie. The prize? One heavily molested Springfield Negi.

It's a no-holds barred catfight folks, with Asakura Kazumi there to take a smany pictures as you want, set of ten 10,000 yen. Let's sit back and enjoy the show, hmm?

Comments
This snippet is particularly rough and needs to be smoothed out and possibley added to. but this is what my mind worked out thus far. any help or comments will be welcomed...

Snippet

Asuna had her goal set. She wasn't the most active club member but she knew the art club would not be meeting today. It would give them the necessary privacy to do what they needed to do. Though her plan was to use the love potion as an excuse she hadn't realized that in Negi's mind she might have already fallen sway. This was worrying for the boy. This was the last thing she wanted to happen. The fighting had been rough to deal with but to see her act like Natsumi in the others had... his cheeks colored at the thought. He wasn't sure how much more of this he could take.

Destination reached Asuna slid the door open and slipped inside. "We should be safe in here, no club meetings today." she explained for his benefit as she locked the door.

"Yeah... safe." Negi replied with a small amount of nervousness. Easels stood, all focused to a small platform. Messy piles of supplies littered tables near the back, a supplies closet cracked open.

"Negi..." the boy in question looked over to the door. Asuna's gaze was to the ground, body tensed. "I... I want to talk to you." she stalled somewhat trying to gather herself. She looked up a bit, face rosy. "First of I want to, apologize." she began slowly. "Things have been so screwed up lately and well... it wasn't right of me to keep taking it out on you. So yeah... I'm sorry," she muttered gathering her confidence bit by bit.

"Asuna-san..." Negi felt a weight lift from his shoulders at those words. He'd been wanting to hear something like that for days. "You don't have to apologize, I-"

"No, you were innocent in this I. I was just looking for some way to deflect things away from myself and that was stupid of me." she scuffed her foot on the floor. "The room hasn't been the same without you, Konoka hasn't been to pleased with me either... I've missed you... a lot more then I thought I would." her rambling paused as she straightened herself up and began to approach. If I try to kiss him he'll be sure it's the potion... it's just to keep him from realizing. That's all... she repeated to herself ignoring the growing thrill at the thought of it. She could tell in his face that he was growing nervous, it seemed like the plan was working. "All this over a kiss... but I guess it wasn't that bad really." she admitted highlighting her blush.

"Asuna-san?" Negi's previously lightened heart dropped... it looked like he was right. Obviously she had cared enough to go looking and help him out but every since the run it was all potion. It figured... Though she knew about the potion so made he could reason this out.

"Though it was an accident and kind of rushed... Maybe I can do a better job." Asuna could barely believe she got that out. She offered a nervous smile as she moved closer, he was definitely buying it.

Outside the door Zazie paused, she could hear the voices, just not what was being said. Part of her was frustrated she hadn't been able to catch up... but Asuna was much more of an all around athlete. Her own fast breathing was proof enough of that, though judging by Kazumi who was only now just catching up was at least above an average girl. She reached to slide the door open but the reported stopped her hand, flinching at the touch she gave the girl a pointed stare.

Kazumi motioned for silence as she lightly checked the door. It was locked, no real surprise there. Instead of looking for some force she opened up her bag and routed around for a moment, a curious Zazie looking over her shoulder as she pulled out a pair of small bent wires.

"Just a sec." she whispered crouching by the door and carefully working on the lock. Zazie gave a confused frown at this, what was she up to?

"A-Asuna-san." Negi's spoke up a little louder, catching the performer's immediate attention. Fidgeting a little she leaned against the door to try and hear what was going on.

"There no need to run, you can't go anywhere."

"Asuna, you're not thinking clearly."

"...No... I'm sure this is what I want to do." Asuna replied, after a moment as footsteps moved about much more rapidly. "Got you!"

"Asuna let go! You shouldn't do this i-"

"Stop squirming already." Zazie could feel her heart rate going up, nervous energy building. She pulled herself away, looking for another way into the room.

"Just a second..." Kazumi admonished still working on the lock. She couldn't hear Zazie pacing but she was sure she was. Finally there was an audible click and the reporter slid the door open, immediately reaching for her camera. This was a better shot then the last time. Negi was seated, back against the wall. Asuna was on her knees, one hand clasp with his the other on the side of his face. Both blushing faces inches apart before they turned at the door opening. A priceless photo. "My my is it hot in here." she teased about ready to take another picture when Zazie stepped in frame approaching at a steady pace. Sensing the conflict Kazumi backed up and switched her camera's settings to record the confrontation... This was going to be interesting.

"R-Rainyday-san?" Negi swallowed, this was turning in to one messed up day. Not to mention there was another picture like this... some peace offering this turned out to be. Asuna stood abruptly red faced and somewhat panicked.

"T-This isn't... I mean I know this looks like..." She was sure she had locked the door. Sure Negi could be convinced that a love potion was at work but with a photo this looked really bad. So focused on the smirking Asakura she almost didn't notice Zazie until the acrobat pushed her back away from Negi. Compared to the acrobat she was much sturdier and was only pushed back a few steps, easily keeping her balance. "Hey what was that about?!" Asuna frowned as Zazie pulled Negi to herself looking over the boy, seemingly for injuries... Eyes lingering on the hicky before they focused back on her.

"...You hurt sensei..." The comment had little force behind it but the look that accompanied it took all words from her mind. The quiet performer's eyes were glowing red. She tried to muster a reply but that unearthly glare left her with out any manner of coherency... Just what was she?

"Rainyday-san it isn't like that." Negi jumped to her defense catching her attention. The red faded from her eyes... and grew in her cheeks as she turned to look to the boy.

"...Negi..." Zazie held the boy closer, a hand resting on his head.

This isn't good...

"Zazie You need-" as if being reminded that she wasn't alone she looked back up sharply. Looking between a puzzled Kazumi and concerned Asuna she grabbed Negi and rushing to the supply closet. "Zazie Wait!" Asuna rushed after only to run into the door. She pounded on the sturdy supply door but received no answer. "Zazie open up! Zazie! Damn it..."

"This is unreal..." Asakura continued to record the action from a safe distance, the sliding of a window opening clearly heard by both girls.

"She can't seriously be..." they both ran to the window to see a pair slipping off into the bushes. Asuna cursed lightly, opening the classroom window she jumped out and took off in pursuit. Kazumi turned off the recorder and shook her head.

"This is one heck of a strange triangle... I'm definitely missing something here." She frowned a little glancing to her camera. She slipped in back in her bag before heading toward the dorms... she needed to look over her notes some more.

In the storage closet Zazie sat against the wall hugging Negi tightly, his back against her chest. The boy mage stared to the open window mildly disturbed.

"...Rainyday-san... What were those things?" He asked in a somewhat shaky voice but got no reply just a light squeeze. "Rainyday-san I'm not sur-" a few droplets hit the back of his neck. "What the..." another, then another. A slight shaking from the girls hold was clearly felt. It was almost like "Tears?"

"I'm sorry..." the normally calm tone he associated with the girl was tremored and unsure. It seemed impossible but Zazie Rainyday was crying...

Usual commments
Mev852 - Yes, Zazie doesnt have the same experiances to draw from as the other girls and thus sees things differently.

mickl3 - At the time no, but she does fall sway as you can see... but as said she doesn;t have the same experiances to draw from and thus her reactions are not what you were likely expecting. I was tempoted thr throw them into the mix but since none of the, are staring in this fic it would seem random, I tried to keep it to the girls more directly invovled. outside of the canon huntinf crew.

holy... that was great. Makes you really really feel for zazie and love her little shadow friends even more.

Gotta love how much asuna reminds me of naru once i look back again >_> both would kill someone (namely negi or keitaro) before truthfully admitting something about themselves...

btw, why wasn't asakura affected? Did she just not look at Negi long enough?

EDIT: o man..... in the most recent chapter of negima (210), zazie is way too cute. Hwuaaahhhh! we need more zazie like that.

Snippetus returnus!

Moments earlier, the other side

The door closed and locked, Zazie quickly scanned the room for some measure of insurance. In a flash of ingenuity she leaned a folded up easel, jamming the door shut. Seconds later Asuna started pounding on the door. The acrobat looked for some other preventative.

"Zazie open up! Zazie! Damn it." Negi looked to speak up but fell silent as faces formed out of the shadows. Zazie opened up the window and then turned to the shadows.

"Two, run distraction." she whispered, both seemed to bow before their shape changed.

"...No way..." the formless shadows had shifted to the shape of Zazie and himself, the shadow Zazie dragged the shadow Negi's by the hand as they slipped out the window. The boy mage barely even moved as Zazie walked back and held him.

"You're safe now." she said softly, enjoying holding the boy. It all felt so nice, she'd held him at night but he had always come to her. Today something was urging her on. The light fluttered had turned into a fire and even as she held him she felt warmer then she had in some time...

"...Rainyday-san... What were those things?" Negi asked in a somewhat shaky voice but she barely heard it, instead she just a light squeeze. The urging continued, every fiber of her being was pushing her to do something... but what was she suppose to do? Negi was here... right here in her arms but she was suppose to do more, what more could see do? She held him tighter trying to make the feeling go away but it only grew. Her chest grew tight, and unfamiliar wetness blurring her eyes. She shut them tight, hot tears dripping down her face.

"Rainyday-san I'm not sur-" a few droplets hit the back of his neck. "What the..." another, then another. Zazie began to shake as the overwhelming feelings urged more and more, pressing her to act. What was wrong with her? "Tears?"

"I'm sorry..." the normally calm tone he associated with the girl was tremored and unsure. She squeezed him again, "I'm sorry..." she didn't know who she was apologizing to, but it was anything to try and ease the pressure looming over her. She could feel the boy shifting in her grasp and panicked she held him even tighter. You can't let go! her body seemed to scream at her so she just held on sniffling.

"Rainyday-san..." Negi's voice sounded far away sending shivers down her spine. "Why are you apologizing?" his tone was calm and patient as ever. The words came quickly to the normally silent girl, tumbling free with hardly a thought.

"I...I don't know..." she whispered. "I...I feel like I'm suppose to do something... I want to do something... b-but... but I don't know." she choked out. "I don't know... Sensei. W-What's wrong with me?" she whispered, her head buried into the back of the boy's neck. Is... Is she resisting the spell? Negi allowed himself a small moment of hopeful awe but as he felt her shaking form the awe was replaced with guilt. Resisting or not the girl was in total distress over the induced emotions. He placed his hand over her own, which clung tightly to his tattered shirt.

"Zazie-san." she froze, "It's okay..." he couldn't think off what else he could say but that seemed to be enough. As if triggered whatever was left of her emotional barriers cracked and with a choked sob began to cry freely into Negi's back. The boy was surprised at the suddenness of it and nervously tried to comfort the girl, as she held tight like he was a life preserver. His experience with girls was limited at best and was left unsure how to handle such an emotional reaction. He wasnÆt sure how many minutes passed before she began to slow and finally stop. He gave a small sigh of relief turning as best he could in the slightly looser grip to get a look at the girl. "Zazie-san, are you okay?" he asked but received no response. Her head was lolled forward onto his shoulder and in the quiet he could hear (and feel) her slow breathing. "She's asleep?" he sweated a little, this image would look very bad if they was found... a situation he was getting into a lot lately. "I should get back to the room" he muttered blushing a little as he shifted his hands and awkwardly stood, the sleeping girl draped over his back. "She's lighter then I expected..." he noted before shaking his head, this was hardly the time to be thinking such thoughts, it was bad enough where he had to put his ha-... not the time.

Trying to clear his mind he moved to unblock the door and came face to face with a white mask. He stared for a long moment before he opened his mouth to scream, a black tendril immediately covering it and muffling. A second tendril made a 'shh' motion in front of it's unmoving mouth.

"S-sorry..." he muttered on reflex, taking in the sight as several more masks formed out of the darkness. He managed to hold his ground, memory coming back to him. "You are Zazie's... friends?" he searched for an appropriate word. The creatures looked to each other before the, apparently, lead shadow nodded. "I see..." he could hardly believe he was talking to these things, whatever they were. "I wanted to take her back to our room. But things are a bit complicated."

The fledgling mage watched in wonder as the several white masks floated together bobbing, weaving, and having some manner of conference without making a sound. The lead mask turned back and nodded. The masks floated away from the door to a blank part of the wall. Slowly they began to fade and left them alone.

"What? I thought they were going to at least move the easel," he muttered. Though soon as he finished he could feel a build of power at the wall, shadows began to swirl into some manner of vortex. Negi took a step back but found a force pushing him from behind. He glanced back to see three masks, formless limbs pushing him to the vortex. "W-what are you doing?" he asked panicked. He couldn't seem to get any traction against their steady push. A shadowy thumbs up could be seen as the vortex swallowed the pair up. Without a sound all the shadows faded leaving the closet empty.

1234321

Negi stumbled as he felt solid ground again, nearly toppling with the girl on his back. "Hey that wasnÆt very... nice?" he began to take in his new surroundings... their dorm room. "Oh..." he blinked looking back to see a few masks watching him closely. He swallowed his nervousness and moved over to the bed and with some maneuvering managed to lay her down. Seemingly satisfied the masked began to fade once more. Negi turned and gave them a bow. "Thank you Shadow-san."

They paused observing the boy before bowing in return and slipping away. Room empty, save for the sleeping Zazie Negi laid down one to floor staring at the ceiling... right then and there he promised himself.

No more love potions...

1234321

All across the campus academic building girls from 2-A blinked confused and disoriented, memory a jumble to why they ended up where they were and how much time seemed to be missingà Natsumi and Chisame awoke with great headaches. the room was a mess and the door was learning against the wall, broken clear off itÆs hinges.

ôàUm Hasagawa-sanàö

ôI donÆt think I want to knowàö the computer specialist muttered slowly getting to her feet. She blinked as her classmate was staring at her.

ôWhat?ö

ôYou look different without your glassesà and with your hair down you look a lot like those models in the magazines.ö NatsumiÆs compliment made her reach up to confirm, she was indeed without her glasses. A moment of panic as she looked around only to see them resting on the desk top, folded and unmarked.

ôIà I donÆt remember taking those off.ö Chisame was a girl always in control, the missing time worried her greatly. To take off her glasses and undo her hair outside of her room. she stuffed down her concern and quickly donned her glasses once more. Reaching back with practiced ease putting her hair back out of the way. ôYou better not tell anyone.ö

ôHuh? but I donÆt understand wh-ô

ôJust donÆt!ö

ôO-Okayà sorry.ö the actress was cowed immediately. Not nearly as scary as Chizuru could be but Chisame had her moments. it didnÆt make sense though, why pretend to be ordinary? if she could look that amazing, sheÆs never hide it soà Natsumi sighed lightly, depressing thoughts did little to help the fuzziness of it all. Getting back to her feet she gasp. ôNo! It rippedàö she looked to the sleeve of her Romeo costume in dismay. ôThe others are going to kill me. what do I do, what do I do.ö The actressÆs mind went into overdrive. Chizuru could fix it but with how busy the girl was sheÆd never get it back before the rest of the cast noticed.

ôGive it.ö

ôHm?ö she looked up to see Chisame, hand extended.

ôIÆll fix it, itÆs not that big a tear yet but if you keep running around itÆs going to get worse.ö

ôReally?ö

ôYes.ö the girl sighed. ôLook IÆll drop it off later tonight, as long as you donÆt tell any of the others about what happened IÆll call it even.ö she muttered, really determined to keep her anonymity Silence stretched for a moment before she snapped out a little. ôWell?ö

ôOkay!ö Natsumi quickly went about removing the others coat. ôThank you so much.ö she smiled as she handed the piece over. Her classmate only grunted in return before she headed out into the hall. Maybe she wasnÆt such a bad person?

1234321

Asuna sat dejected in a local cafÚ, the pair she had chased had been a fake, sheÆd been fooled. By the time she got back to the classroom it was empty. ôBut why would Negi send a fake out the window I meanàö she caught herself as it clicked into place. Negi didnÆt create those fakes. ôThan Zazie?ö it made sense, she seemed to look out for the kid before the potion had got her. A vision of glowing red eyes sent a chill down her spine. That gaze filled her with fear and urge to get awayà was Zazie a mage? Or was she something else?

ôNegiàI hope your all right.ö she whispered clenching her hand. She had to get him to come backàthe time was ticking and finals were approaching. She was running out of time.

end snippet

Comments- I thought things would be a bit clearer if also got to see things from her side. Zazie's odd reaction was a mix of a few differing factors which will come into mention in the near future. The shadows introduce themsevles and a little sene clearing up loose ends with chisame, natsumi and Asuna... the chapter is not over yet but it is winding to a close.

mickl3- Kazumi was keeping her distance and thus out of range. Most of the girls seemed to be close to him when they fell under the spell so I figured have kazumi stand back and flim the confrontation she could remain sane. and asuna is not as bad as naru as soon asuna is going to make a more direct move... something Naru-baka could never do since she's so damn indecisive.

and yes, zazie had some cute filler screentime... loved it greatly.

Very good snippet. I really liked the way you hade Zazie being affected by the potion, it really suited her, needing to do something but not knowing what.

And zerohour, I think it's just a y that has dropped out and the word should be busty.

hmmmm... I think that parts a little off.

also,

Negi didnÆt create those fakes. ôThan Zazie?ö
I believe it should be "then" instead of "than."

Other than that, it was another nice snippet. Zazie's emotions are really awesome. She's too cute.

Now all we need is more of her in the manga like recently where eva dressed her up. I personally think she looked perfect in those clothes.

Yeah, 210 was awesome. And it lends even more credence to the assumption that Zazie knows about magic beyond being able to see Sayo and the shadows, since Satomi openly mentioned the White Wings being in the magic world with her around, Satsuki too.

I think the snippet was very well done, but Negi took the fact that Zazie controls shadows a little too well, don't you think? I figured he would have started speculating the meaning of those beings almost immediately.

He has vampires, other mages, ninjas, time travelers, robots...

ya, it gets a little hard to guess all of them at once.

Though remeber he isn't yet aware of how strange his class is.

The reason he didn't question the shadows too heavily is simply he has had time yet to think about it. within moments of first seeing them Zazie had her breakdown and they brought him back to the room... the potion is over and he's same in the room so now he has time to think on what the hell just happened. :)

I think the snippet was very well done, but Negi took the fact that Zazie controls shadows a little too well, don't you think? I figured he would have started speculating the meaning of those beings almost immediately.
don't forget, his class is wierd... very weird.

He has vampires, other mages, ninjas, time travelers, robots...

ya, it gets a little hard to guess all of them at once.
Oh, but at this point, Negi doesn't know that he has any of those in his class. In fact (besides all of the shorta-cons) as far as he knows; his class is filled with normal girls.

'Shorta-cons'? Epic typo is epic...or perhaps on purpose? It does make sense....

Hmm....need to catch up on this story, I haven't read it in a while.

Good job from what I can see so far, tho, Ryoga.

The reason he didn't question the shadows too heavily is simply he has had time yet to think about it. within moments of first seeing them Zazie had her breakdown and they brought him back to the room... the potion is over and he's same in the room so now he has time to think on what the hell just happened. :)
That's a good point. I guess I was just confused as to why his last thought was about the love potion instead of the shadows.

...Then again, I suck at comedy. ^_^ I've been told that I write my stories, and my theories on things like chakra and magic (particularly in the HP fandom), like a lawyer or a businessman so I've always focused more on that and action/adventure.

It took time for the recent madness to set in. At the very least he was sure that the 'forget' aspect of the potion should be active which was a load off his mind... though with some girls he was unsure if he would be able to look them in the eyes anytime soon. He lightly rubbed the bite marks on his neck with a burning blush, healing was hardly a specialty but he knew enough to focus and remove the marks. Forget spell or not no need leave any marks or reminders.

Though as his mind calmed down he came to a more serious note... his gaze turned to the bed where Zazie slept. It seemed his roommate was more then she appeared. Granted he had learned by now that she bore many quirks but her connections with those shadows was a step above. The strange thing was she didn't 'summon' them, she hadn't gathered any magic and even now his senses were not reading her as anything above the minor tremor of magic Mahora always had. So these shadows were from this world and she held some manner of sway over them. They held at least human intelligence and were capable of independent action, which seemed to further the theory that they were working for Zazie rather then being controlled by her.

"Should I ask her?" that was the dilemma. It would get the most direct answer. Judging by past conversations she tended to be quite straightforward and logical... But how would he explain having seen them? She seemed to be keeping things a secret; it was only to protect him that she seemed to bring them out. Which was touching in it's own way.

"Would she remember?" he fretted at the thought, he wanted to put this day behind him. Everyone he ran into seemed to get effected so if things go right no one should remember anything. But he would be lying if he thought it was a guaranteed safety. With a sigh he put the issues aside for the moment to change out of his 'battle worn' outfit. He must have had to fight off half the class. He shucked the outfit and redressed in more comfortable lounging clothes. "Hm... I might have to go shopping for more considering how long this task is suppose to take." a light moan caught his attention bringing his gaze to the bed where his roommate had finally sat up rubbing the sleep from her eyes.

"Sensei?"

"Ah your finally awake." Negi gave a warm smile, he had decided at least for now to keep things under wraps. Judging by her puzzled looks she didn't seem to remember the ordeal.

"I don't remember falling asleep," she had a light frown. It was hard to think straight her mind was so fuzzy. "I was... looking for you." she said after a moment, it was her last clear memory. To his credit Negi manage to keep any panic hidden away. "I think."

"You were? I guess you must have taken a break, when I got back you were sleeping."

"Ah." Zazie nodded slightly, but was unsure. Before she could give much thought to the cover he moved the topic along.

ôSo youÆre time with Shizuna-san went well?ö

Zazie gave a small nod before her eyes opened slightly standing and going over to the closet and opening it to her side. Crouching down she began to sift through the boxes.

ôWhat are you looking for Rainyday-san?ö He returned to using her family name with the drama overà besides him suddenly using her first name might send alarm bells. She looked back over her shoulder.

ôSpecial assignment.ö was all her got as she turned back looking on throughà now NegiÆs curiosity was piqued. The boy inched over trying to get a clear look at her search. Pulling out a small box buried in the back she nodded before opening it up to reveal it was full of stuffed dolls. Very familiar looking dolls, there was one of each girl in his class.

ôOh,ö he moved closer looking over the details of the chibi representations. ôTheyÆre cute.ö the acrobat paused and looked back then seemed to realize how close he was and turned back to the box immediately. Both roommates left with a slight flush. ôUm did you make these yourself?ö he ventured.

Zazie gave a small nod as she placed them out apparently searching fro a specific one.

ôHm, how come there isnÆt one of you?ö he continued to question the quiet girl noting a blink, likely of puzzlement.

ôWhy?ö

ôUm, you knowà so there would be a whole set.ö Negi began to wonder why she would make dolls of all the girls and keep them hidden away in a box. Voodoo? He felt a chill down his spine as the stray thought went by. A mental picture of Zazie in a candlelit room, shadows looming over her as she held a pin over an Asuna doll, ready to strike. He shook the image free. Zazie wouldnÆt do something like that.

ôPresents.ö

ôHuh?ö

ôTheyÆre presents.ö she clarified, hopefully not reading his mind in that moment.

ôOh, how thoughtful of you.ö He gave a warm smile her way. Looking over the dolls though many looked older then the others, left untouched. ôBut why do you have them hidden in the closet then?ö he watched as her head tiled down slightly fingering the plushy in hand. Negi was starting to learn the girl tended to speak with silence. You had to listen with your eyes to æhearÆ what she was saying. ôYou were uncomfortable giving them?ö

A small nod.

ôI see.ö The boy mage should have expected that was the case, it seemed the girl was lonelier then she showed. But HeÆd had already began to expect that from their time together. Being used to being alone and liking it were two very different things. ôSo youÆre going to try?ö

A hesitation but she still nodded. ôJust one.ö

ôItÆs a start.ö he replied noting the one she placed aside curious. He wasnÆt sure he recognized that one. The plushies began to return from whence they came. The box stashed back away from where it had come, he looked over the chosen present. ôIÆm sure sheÆll accept it just fineà is she in our class?ö he was unsure, she looked a little familiar but it definitely wasnÆt any of the usual subjects. Though considering his original perception of Zazie it wouldnÆt be unheard of if her hadnÆt nothings the girl.

ôYes.ö Zazie plucked the homemade present from the teacher and put on her shoes. ôIÆll be back soon,ö she said carefully placing it in a bag. Negi nodded with a small smile on his lips.

ôGood luck Rainyday-san.ö

ôThank you.ö

The door shut leaving the dorm room in silence, Negi yawned and began to prepare for bedà it was early but he was too worn out to care. HeÆd be able to check things out in the morning. Right now the one thing he needed more then anything was rest. Pondering the continued mysteries of his roommate could wait until tomorrow.

It was growing dark in the academicÆs building, students and staff had returned to their dorms leaving the sole occupant hovering in room 2-A. Sayo Aisaki was an a typical spirit. She was quiet and shy; she tended to trip despite lacking feet, and couldnÆt scare anyone except herself. For 60 years she roamed the Mahora campus, ignored and lonely. She always felt attracted to her seat in homeroom. Being unable to leave Mahora it was like a home base to return to. Unfortunately when night fell her normally comforting classroom tended to be quite scary. Moonlight shadows played on the wall; strange creaks and whistles of wind rattled her nerves. She could rarely stay more then a couple of hours before she sought out a convenience store or some other all nighter businessà Being around the living kept the boogey man away.

It was coming close to the point she was reaching her limit when she heard a very unusual sound. With a squeak she turned to see the darkness swirling she floated back closing her eyes. ôItÆs not real, itÆs not real, itÆs not real.ö She muttered panicked slowly peeking one eye open to seeà nothing. She sighed slumping a little. ôOoohà that was scary.ö she whimpered, it seemed sheÆd reached her wits end for the night. Or so she thought.

ôIÆm sorry.ö

ôAhh!ö The ghost jumped as a voice came from her side, she hide under her desk peeking out to see one of her classmates crouched down in front of her. The stared at each other, Sayo scared and confused, Zazie a total blank. ôUmà H-Hello?ö she greeted awkwardly, face red from the intense stareà no one ever stared.

ôHello.ö

ôYouàyou can see me?ö It was a stupid question, but it was hard to swallow.

The strange girl merely nodded in reply, she seemed unparsed interacting with a ghost. But that simple clarification raised SayoÆs spirits greatly.

ôHow long?Æ

ôAlways.ö Zazie blinked as the spirit slumped forward before looking back up.

ôThen how come you never said anything?!ö Sayo calmed a little as her classmate turned her silent gaze away. The spirit rubbed away some spectral tears. ôIÆm sorryà Ià I was just very lonely.ö she muttered, the last thing she wanted was to scare away someone who could see her. She looked up to seeà herself. Well a smaller version at least. ôEh?ö she gaze moved back to Zazie, whose gazed was turned slightly off. ôF-For me?ö

ôA present.ö

ôThank you.ö SayoÆs voice was soft as she reached out and took the little doll. A chibi version of herself, in her old school uniform. She hugged in to her chest. ôIts very cute,ö she complimented. Her pale cheeks gaining a rosy hew.

ôYou like it?ö the girls calm tone held a note of hesitation, Sayo nodded.

ôI love it.ö

ôàIÆm gladàö

Both girls held gazes once more, both pairs of red eyes bridging the two girls together. Sayo smiled bigger then she had in some time and Zazie gained an ever so slight one of her own.

It was a start.

end snippet.

Theres a little bit left I want to put in before the end Just to touch up one last losse end before the end of the chapter. Zazie and Sayo are cute together... well there both cute on their own so together they are cute squared or something to that effect... and Plushies... yes I decided to give Zazie several hobbies to take up her time since she didn;t socialize much. her birds, the figurines 9which will be touche don more later) and making stuffed animals... and I am using the save version of Zazie in Magic within... so those reading bith get a small (but liekly expected) spoiler.
