Hmm didn't they say that her ability to reject something was directly related to her ability to believe in herself. As Vass pointed out she didn't know how to heal her attack guy so maybe it was her on doubts on being able to recreate him that kept her from reviving them.

I've got a theory: The reason Orihime had so much difficulty healing Tsubaki during the Soul Society arc and couldn't use her power to revive Tsubaki in the Arrancar arc is because she didn't WANT to. Yeah yeah, she THOUGHT she wanted to do it, but deep down, Orihime doesn't like hurting people. That's why Tsubaki keeps getting torn up in battle. She doesn't want to kill her opponent, so Tsubaki is effectively hobbled because Orihime's holding back way too much, and gets creamed by the target's counterstrike. Tsubaki's sole function is to strike and kill, a function that Orihime doesn't like using so when Tsubaki is damaged or destroyed, Orihime subconsciously does not want him to be restored, and thus use of her power to restore him is difficult to impossible.

...yeah, I mentioned that.

Orihime isn't the type of person that wants to hurt, much less kill, anyone, so it could be that she saw, even if only subconsciously, that healing Tsubaki would only bring back her ability to kill someone, and that isn't something she wants.
Right there. Second paragraph of my last post.

She couldn't do it because she didn't know she could. The concept of will and desire is the basis of both Orihime's and Ichigo's power. Without that will neither can do that much. But Orihime's powers are much more dependant on her will.

I thought all Reiatsu (or Reishi, whatever) was powered by will, desire, and determination.

That's what it seems like because everytime Ichigo or another main character seems to be loosing, they either 1) have a flashback which gives them the will to fight again, 2) convince themselves they can and will win, or 3) talk with the being living inside their head that either mocks them, teaches them by being sarcastic, and/or lectures them in their own way, which results in them regaining their will-power or gaining another power-source and causes them to want to win again. Sometimes it's a combination of two of those.

Also, when number 3 happens it tends to freeze time and space like some sort of God. Why doesn't Aizen just utilize that power? Or perhaps that's the power of his Zanpakuto in Bankai form?

Maybe Zanpakuto are actually agents, or parts of, of the King of Soul Society? And Aizen has a power-hungry and rebellious part?

This is Manga. It's supposed to be Bullshit compared to Real Life. Have you ever breathed a fireball by combining only your mental and physical energies (which is what Naruto Chakra is made of)? Have you healed a wound by saying "I Reject!"? Have you ever summoned a dragon of water by making weird little signs with you hands that are supposed to, but don't, somehow resemble the Chinese (or was it Japanese?) Zodaic? Can you fire off Balls of Ki when you get really confident, or really depressed?

Yeah, I didn't think so.

We are just going by what has been said or implied in Canon.

Besides, that example didn't make sense, if I didn't want that soda, why would I want to unscrew the lid for that soda?

And we never said Orihime didn't want it enough, we said that she didn't actually want to be able to use Tsubaki again because she didn't want to hurt/kill people.

If Orihime wanted it enough, I'm pretty sure she couldn't just say "Fuck me, Kurosaki-kun" and it'd happen...unless he was drunk, and didn't have the same personality as in Canon. Otherwise, he would have done it with Yoruichi in Soul Society when they were training because she teased him so much.

well i see it from that light but am sad for the insult to my soda reference :(

But another barrier of superpower inoue is a cliche plot device in which supporting characters takeover the story and in anime this results in what's called filler episodes, etc. sooooooooo 1-0 me????????? at least let me win this 1.

besides who said Orihime didn't already say fuck me and it didn't even have todowith Ichigo .................. ...................... ok nvm but i'm sure eating bannana ricecrispe does that to a persons sex drive.

Eh...it's fanon. Fanon is, like, the King of Filler Episodes.

On that last comment, for some reason, immediately after reading it I thought of Inoue having no sex drive, and her naivete being completely skyrocketed, because of all the weird food she eats.

If she didn't have all that weird food, for like let's say a month or two, she'd turn Nympho-for-Ichigo. Kind of like Cuckoo for Coco-puffs. Except with Sex. And Ichigo. Sex with Ichigo. All night long, every night.

That idea needs to be applied to all weird-food-eating anime females in a thread in the lemon section. Post-haste.

First off, I apologize for bumping this without having an update ready. I'm working on it. I just wanted to inform you that I've finally gotten my new dictation software installed, so there will be an increase in update speed.

I don't usually like to set a time or date for releases, but I'm fairly confident I'll have something written up for this within a week.

Assuming, of course, that my muse doesn't die on me.

I would wait a bit before lynching him, Raine just posted that he had written three story's and this was the third story down his list of topics. I know I almost posted something before realizing it was 2 years old.

*Wanders by, reading the thread for the first time*

So two years ago, there was uncertanty as to what to do with those hairpin people of Orihime's. I'm surprised nobody suggested having each one be an exaggerated state of insanity. There could be the paranoid one, the shell-shocked mute, the scizoprenic, the meglomaniac, the Warner Brothers cartoon, and the sane one.

Now if only I could have posted this two years ago.

They would only exist as the voices in Orihime's head.

its a bit late, but to answer two questions.....
1: the picture in Lord Raine's sig is from Nagasarete Airanto, a harem-type manga/anime

2: as for ancient clans regarding homosexuality, well keep in mind that in both ancient china as well as japan right uptill the meji restoration, homosexuality is not put in the open but is widely accepted. every knows whose gay but they dont talk about it much in open nor do they look down upon them. In fact, the origin of the word 'homosexuality' in chinese '?·Ð¶Í«??í» comes from the name of this person who is known as one of the 4 gentleman of the warring states period, and was well respected for his martial as well as political ability. in japan's context, a very famous japanese warlord in their warring states period, Takeda Shingen, once wrote a letter on paper, then a precious material, to his gay partner saying that the other guy he was eyeing and flirting with could not hold a candle to him and that his love was for him only. in fact that letter is still preserved in japan's musuem today. the practice of homosexuality then was very prevalent especially among the warlords, that time period was the 16th century.

however, while the practice was not shunned, line preservation was still a priority, so as long as one sires male offspring, one can do watever he wants, whomever he wants, as long as one does it discreetly.

Is there a source for that information? I find it... odd. Then again, my knowledge of that period is kind of lacking. But I would like to read up more on the subject.

In China, there was a married woman who complained in a letter about the attention her husband was paying to his gay lover. One thing she pointed out was that she also had 'that hole', so there was no reason her husband couldn't use it.

Sounds like an Orihime in the Loops, finally aware of her power, and with enough Killing Intent to take out a threat aside from against herself.

Truly, I look forward to see how either Orihime advances.

She goes beyond the power of loopers. The loopers are weaker than the gods, and Orihime has exceeded the gods. Only the guys on the top, like the creator of all, could stop her. All of the loopers couldn't do more than slow her down if she just up and decided she's invulnerable.
