Nasuverse Puella Magi Sakura Magica

Life.

How could such a hollow existence even be referred to as "life;?

She certainly did not think so.

If the girl could, she would cry - she would let her tears flow for the entire night as she wept herself to sleep to dream dreams of distant, lovely memories. But she had no more tears to shed, she ran dry years ago, when she finally began to accept the torments of her new lifestyle.

A prisoner in her own "home", subject to abuses untold and uncomprehendable on a daily basis. Such is the life of the girl, the former sister of Tohsaka Rin. Disowned. Given away. Abandonded...

Yes, she might have resigned herself to this life, and grudgingly, silently, sadly accepts the tender mercies and demands of her "grandfather" and "brother".

For this darkest of all dark places that she was in now, she knew deep down that there was indeed no escape.

"Do you not like your life?"

"Huh?"

"Do you like it?"

She sniffled quietly as she wiped her slowly dripping nose - this was all the emotion she could allow herself here, in this place.

"N-no. I...I...I...don't."

"Do you wish to escape this life, and be free like how you really want to be?"

"Y-yes. Yes, I do. It's what I really do...want...I'd do anything."

"Well then, in that case..."

"Make a contract with me and become a Magical Girl!"

* PUELLA MAGI - SAKURA MAGICA *

Next Episode: "I'm Not the Only One in Fuyuki"

=======================================================

So here's the lowdown:

After making her wish, Sakura contracts with Kyuubey and becomes a Puella Magi. She's now fighting a War on two fronts, essentially. She's also not the only Puella Magi in the city, either (AYAKO!, maybe other Track Girls as well.)

Also, Servants can see Kyuubey JUST FINE~

And why does Archer know of his true name...?

Let the brainstorming and delicious despair begin!

Seeing Kyuubey isn't the issue. Actually harming the driving intelligence driving the fluffy puppet is another matter and that isn't even starting on if it's a good idea todo so.

In many ways, the feats of the Puella Magi & Witches aren't that impressive. Except when you realise that Kyuubey's race has been acting as an omg xbox huge power limiter and are using the hope, joy and angst and grief of young human girls to fuel the very life of the universe.

Also, Matou Zouken would almost definitely notice and either use his magic to reinsert her soul back into her body with his skill with the creation of familiars, or simply take it over with the soul-worm in her heart. I suppose he might want to study the soul gem a little firs, but he'd almost certainly wind up dismissing it as a useless avenue of research towards immortallity given its corruption drawbacks and then doing one of the two prior options.

Also, Sakura's got so much darkness and angst inside of her that she'd almost certainly wind up turning into a witch almost immediately.

Would this even work on someone who already has active magic powers? I would understand if Shinji were offered such a deal, but why Sakura would even take it?

I dunno, a wish?

It's like free Holy Grail! Except there's no Angra Mainyu in the Grail and you're paying it not with the souls of dead heroes but your own.

=|

But still, a wish!

It's just the fact the wish is being offered to a magus i find so troublesome. Magi should know nothing comes for free. They pay for power with tears and blood and pain and time spent learning knowledge required for their craft. Even without Angra Mainyu's corruption to get the Grail you pay tremendous price - winers and losers alike go through hell. Magic isn't cheap. If anything, Sakura knows this. Any magus knows this. Hell, even Shirou would understand this. To make such a contract without getting all details of it, all fine print... I understand why ordinary little girls would make such mistake, but ANY magus at all... Really, after years of Zouken's training to accept Kyuubey's offer really bugs me.

Sorry if i look like a troll to ruin a perfectly good idea. It may be a really good story will come of this. Hell, if a clasmate of Shirou became a Puella Magi there would be no problem for me. Take this as you will.

"...become a Magical Girl!'"

You know the price was explicitly stated there.

It's not like he goes around saying, "Yo free wish here, come get some!"

Hell it's probably even a better deal than making a pact with the World.

(Same situation, I wonder how Shirou reacted to tha--Oh right.)

This is kind of heartbreaking. Sakura totally doesnt need to have to deal with this. A slightly prolonged death sentence full of hard work and suffering...

Rin would probably be able to cleanse her Soul Gem by transferring its corruption to her gems, but I suppose that would only work as long as they had the money to burn like that.

Because it gets rid of Zouken?

What does she have to lose?

She can either refuse and be slowly tortured to death by Zouken or she can accept and be able to live her own life. Even with the unmentioned side-effects, I'm not so sure it's really that bad a deal for her (because we don't know for sure that there isn't a way out). Given what she knows it's a no-brainer.

Well, if that would actually work, then money isn't an issue, because I would imagine that Rin would quite gladly rob a bank if necessary. She's not going to let her sister die because she's too skint to pay for some jewels to cleanse her, and not much can stop her.

Lulz. "Oh, gaiz, QB is totally a nicer guy than Zouken."

Laughter. Causing. Pain.

IRUN, you are evil. Not Koto levels of evil yet, but with this idea you approach her wakame throne.

I like that.

I never said that....

However, unlike Zouken his plans don't involve constantly torturing Sakura until she dies, and like I said there is a good chance that there is some way out (because downer endings only really work if they aren't telegraphed from the very beginning).

In the social context, he's certainly far more pleasant. And, y'know, cute.

Not....really. If you've ever read the Dresdan Files one of the first things they tell you about the Fairy courts is that both are ruthless, guiltless monsters. The only REAL differences is one uses fire the other ice and one likes to pretend and the other is up front about it.

Example!

Winter court wants something from you, or for you to do something. If they can't trick you into a contract, such as giving you the skill to play a musical instrument and then forcing you to play at their parties till you die of exhaustion. Then they'll black mail you into it in some way.

Summer on the other hand is sneaky about it. They'll TRICK you into wanting to do it, regardless of whether it's a good thing or not and you won't realize it until it's way too late, if you do at all.

What I'm saying is it's just swapping prisons. The only REAL choice is what kind of pain you prefer. Upfront cruelty, or back stabbing emotional turmoil.

I think you're trying to do a parallel with Madoka and Dresden Files, but it doesn't work since QB is nothing like the Fae.

Forced a choice between QB, Summer, Winter, or Zouken:

There is only one correct decision.

You're right! Commit suicide, because no matter what option you pic your fucked, it's just what flavor you would like that's different.

Wow, that is like the worst utility option you could have picked, with only Zouken ranking lower.

So it's like this:

You can get benefits and tortured and die, get benefits and tortured and die, get tortured and die, or get A GODDAMN WISH (torture optional, but if that's your thing~) and die.

Clearly the most optimal decision here is to just die.

Smart thinking. :snigger:

See? Cherry_Lover understands why Sakura would go for this.

But honestly, I think messing around with a Soul Gem is a little beyond Rin. Granted, there is that Jewelcraft of the Tohsakas/transference of energy, BUT Soul Gems seem to be on another level entirely. And if not, then fiddling with it might be too much of a risk - who knows what happens if you try to mess with them. For all we know QB's race could have set them to implode if they're subject to external tampering.

And this is even if Rin finds out about Sakura running around as a Puella Magi in the first place.

Re: Trevelyan1983

Okay, clearly you know me from Beast's Lair somewhere. But who might you be, exactly?

Erlkonig, is that you?

But yes, darkfics are my weakness. I love them so! I'll take "evil" as a compliment, thankyew.

And on another note, one of the other Puella Magi HAS to be badass archer-Ayako. But what sort of weapon would Sakura have......?

Not sure if serious. I'm trevelyan1983 there too. I bandied words with Nahash, did that whole thing about Mike being like Zouken. I even discussed the definition of HNNG!

I have tenure, damnit.

Why is it everybody seems to think selling your soul for a limited time power up, I.E. as long as you're alive, is a good thing? You realize that once it's all over you pretty much cease to exist right?

So would I just kill my self and move on to whatever afterlife, in this case Nasu afterlife is reincarnation I believe, instead of getting a cheap power up for momentary comfort and then have my soul eaten by some kinda eldritch abomination, or used to destroy to world? You bet I would, my only regret would not being able to laugh as the baddies plans get screwed up.

Keep in mind that it would be a last resort type of thing. Understandable you would want to try escaping and running before offing yourself.

As a little side note I never could quite repress my irritation of Shiro's almost blase attitude towards Shinji hitting Sakura. He gets into like one fight with him in grade school about it and then it's almost out of sight out of mind.

Edit: here ya go guys a nice little chart of the entire process. Enjoy ;)

So tell me, why do YOU hate Sakura so much that you would condemn her to THAT of all things?

Because the wish isn't necessarily for limited power up?

?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Y'know, the wish isn't to become a magical girl?!?!?!

Y'know, that's the price?

?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Something even more funny is that the Nasuverse magi would probably think the whole thing is a steal.

That up there is the entire process of that magical girl system. Sakura has made her wish, to be free, and now is a Puella Magi. Unless there is some way to escape it her fate is to have the shattered remnants of her soul become lunch for an Incubator. This, of course, is after she gets a brief surge of hope followed by a nose dive into suicidal despair where she then becomes the very monster she's been fighting.

But, ya know, obviously the cute little eldritch horror, that's going to eat her soul, is better then Zouken. After all he's cute, and offers a wonderful wish as bait for the sad saps willing to be duped.

And yes the little horror does lie. It's called a lie by omission.

The whole becoming a witch thing is an overblown drama device, only really driving because the victims are just a bunch of little girls with the emotional stability of a house of cards. Dressing it up with scary words doesn't really make it any more horrible.

Nasuverse style of reincarnation is that your soul gets torn asunder and your self destroyed, scattered, then blenderized in a chaotic goop as a kind of eldritch(!) amalgamation some years later as something else. Ooh, scaaaary. (See, I can do that too!)
