I posted this over on Spacebattles in the tribble thread. For those of you who don't frequent the site that's a dumping ground for ideas that seem worthwhile for one reason or another, but really you have no intention of actually writing.

Tribble #7565 Ranma1/2 crossed with
link

Should be pretty simple either a quick set up with Ranma's latest challenger practising Martial Arts Trap People in Computer Games or just have the aqua-transsexual wake up in the Hall of Champions kidnapped by the Firestaff. Either way the only way out is to make it though the Dungeon. First off he has to select some companions from the portraits.

Played straight or for laughs it could be good.
Since then the idea has grown on me and since I'm re-playing the game at the moment I'm actually putting a few sentences together.

The set up at the moment is non-existent. Ranma just wakes up in the Hall of Champions feeling like he's been dragged through a hedge backwards with no idea how he got there. He wanders around looking about and finds the first Portrait steps up to have a look and suddenly gets an overview of Iaido Ruyito Chiburi Apprentice Fighter and Novice Priest (one of the champions you can select who's near the entrance) skills and strengths stuffed into his minds eye. If Ranma thinks this guy might be useful or interesting he'll probably materialise and join his adventuring party. (I doubt Ranma would, Iaido isn't all that, but maybe some of the other champions stuck in portraits would appeal or after the first one Ranma might feel obligated to rescue them)

It's 12 pretty big levels down to the big boss area and getting home again as a reward fits ok. Ranma would be pretty early in the series I should think, maybe after chestnut fist, but before dragon ascendant?

Any thoughts or criticisms welcome this will be my first real attempt at writing Ranma so I don't know if it'll ever get to a stage where I'd put it up but at this early stage it seems doable a nice tight enclosed story universe without to many factors to juggle and only so many characters to work in.

Anyway I was wondering what thought's the cross would stir up.

New idea.

Still working out the details, but Kasumi Tendo, she is a Nigella.

If you'll pardon the meme.

Struck by a new, terrible idea. Be warned, this is an AU fic.

The Kuno family has relatives in the Kyoto area.

These relatives?

The Aoyamas.

Obviously, Tsuruko and Motoko think poorly of Tatewaki, despite his apparent skill with the sword.

Motoko tries to avoid having anything to do with the Kunos. Which is understandable.

Tsuruko, however, likes her younger cousin, Kodachi. She sees her as something of a kindred spirit, one that had the guts to go after the man of her dreams, rather than wait for him to drop into her lap via arranged marriage.

You see, Tsuruko tried to be prim and proper, but the suitors just weren't that suitable.

There was one man, but it was deemed inappropriate for Tsuruko to chase after him.

There was a terrible misunderstanding that resulted in a restraining order. It's not something that people like to talk about.

It's during a visit that Tsuruko meets Ranma and decides that either 1) that Kodachi needs help to catch such a fine specimen or /b/, all's fair in love & war and Tsu-chan needs some lovin'!

This idea is free to a good home, a broken home, or an old people's home.

Whoever wants it can have it, provided credit is given.

I like this idea, I will employ it somehow.

Just finished reading the manga 'Hakodate Youjin Buraichou Himegami'. A very good series for a Ranma crossover I think.

This.

Honestly, Dumbledork, why would anyone think that it would fit in with the Ranma setting?

Not only is it in the wrong century, but it's in a completely different part of Japan!

This would end up as a story with a character named Ranma in it, rather than a Ranma story.

I thought people around these parts knew the difference.

Yes, I am disappoint.

Lots of action, cool and interesting powers, and beautiful girls. Do I need another reason?

Plot device: Nanban mirror.

Sending Ranma to the past is one of the two ideas I had. Here's the other one.

The descendants of the bad guys come back to Japan to try once again to get their hands on the power of the Himegami.

Ranma could be either the new seal or a descendant of the himegami who inherits the power to fight off the youjin.

And, since I haven't ever read the series, let me guess. This is some power that only women have, and some task for which men are Worse Than Useless.

One Piece/Ranma Idea likely going to use Fanon Akane

Akane is the head chef at Impel Down.............................. Any comments?
It makes a ton of sense considering the Warden eats poisoned food every single day.

Lame. That's my comment.

Something I've been sort of working on.

Kasumi Tendo sighed as she heard the door slam shut and angry footsteps run up the stairs. She shook her head and made her way to the kitchen to start working on dinner.

The door opened again and Nabiki strolled in with a nonchalant look on her face.

ôWhatÆs for dinner tonight, Kasumi?ö she asked.

ôTempura,ö she replied. ôIs something wrong with Akane, Nabiki?ö

ôNothing out of the ordinary: Ranma said something without thinking, Akane took it the wrong way, they had an argument,ö the short-haired sister shrugged. ôThe usual, really.ö

Kasumi frowned for a moment before shaking her head again. ôDonÆt they get tired of arguing all the time?ö

ôI think they like it really,ö Nabiki whispered conspiratorially, causing her sister to smile. ôSee, everythingÆs fine, Kasumi.ö

@@@@@

The pattern of Ranma and Akane arguing over silly things, from the aggression of the rival suitors to the mysterious absence of P-chan, continued for the following week.

It was beginning to get Kasumi down. Sure, she understood that things were rarely quiet when it came to anything that involved Ranma, but she felt that her own life was beginning to fall into a rut.

She casually mentioned it to Nabiki as the pair of them prepared some drinks one evening.

ôI suppose that I can see why youÆre getting bored, Kasumi,ö Nabiki shrugged. Inwardly, however, the mercenary girl was a little worried for her future meals.

If Kasumi was having some sort of breakdown, everyone would have to fend for themselves. Sure, RanmaÆs suitors could feed them occasionally, but sooner or later, Akane would try her hand in the kitchen.

And that would be a disaster.

A thought popped into NabikiÆs head. ôIf you ever get bored, you could do what I do.ö

ôWhatÆs that?ö Kasumi asked as she poured hot water into the teapot.

ôTease Ranma, of course. Even if his reactions arenÆt amusing, then you can guarantee that someone will take what you say the wrong way and then the laughs will come rolling in.ö

ôIÆm not sure that I approve of that sort of thing, Nabiki,ö the elder sister chided.

ôYour loss, sis, but I promise you this û Ranma can be great entertainment if you know how to handle him.ö

ôPerhapsàö Kasumi trailed off as she finished preparing the tea.

Or it could go the opposite way of her doing everything short of saying "Screw me Ranma, screw me hard!" trying to get a reaction but everyone holds off because it's Kasumi. Eventually Kasumi does do something, a kiss or a good old screwing, and everyone is sure nothing untword happened as this is Kasumi. Kasumi then uses her super power to molest eveyone else in public with everyone in denial.

I actually had an off-the-wall sort of idea that would lead to a VERY different Akane.

Here's the idea:

No one know what happened to the Tendo's mother. People have speculated a disease, possibly an inherited one that coincidentally will never be inherited by the Tendo sisters because the author says so.

Assuming the Tendo's mother didn't die of a disease, but rather an accident roughly shortly after they'd gone to Ryugenzawa, my brain came up with this:

Instead of Ryugenzawa, the Tendo family goes north to Hokkaido in late winter/early spring. While there, a flock of Yukionna decide to create a spontaneous blizzard as one last hurrah before winter ends, which traps the town that the Tendos are staying in.

Soun and his wife (whom I'll name Yohko for the sake of time, though it can easily be changed) go out and actually do battle with the Yukionna to try and drive them off.

After a long time, the Tendo sisters decide to go out to check on their parents. Kasumi and Nabiki find Soun, who's utterly exhuasted, but otherwise fine.

Akane finds Yohko.

Yokho, who'd wound up catching the attention of the Yukionna's leader, is fighting a duel that could either end her life or get the Yukionna to withdraw. One of the Yukionna decide to cheat and pounce on Yohko, only to be pounced by Akane in return. Akane, realizing her punches don't seem to be doing much, decides to use a more primal weapon: her teeth.

While the Yukionna could ignore the feeble smacks of a child, human jaws are much stronger. She howls in pain as Akane bites her in the neck and lets go of Yohko. She manages to fling Akane off, but not until Akane's teeth have ruptured the youma's flesh and an artery.

Though it's not fatal, the yukionna is badly injured and in a lot of trouble for interrupting a duel. Akane, however, is shivering violently as she's swallowed a lot of ice-cold youma blood.

Forfeiting as she'd been enjoying the fight before her minion interferred, the leader calls off the blizzard and sends her pack back into the mountains where they'll slumber during the warmer months.

Yohko takes Akane back to the hotel they're staying at, but Akane's temperature keeps dropping and she seems to do worse in warmer rooms. Unsure of what to do, they call the local doctor, who, as it turns out, is a specialist in the local supernatural. (becoming a specialist in the supernatural was a compromise he'd made with his parents so he could become a doctor).

He looks Akane over and notes that, clinically, she's cold enough that she should be dead, but as she clearly isn't... it's probably because she's turning into Yukionna. But he's not sure.

After all, no one has ever BITTEN a Yukionna before, or at least not in the doctor's lifetime. More than that, no human, to his knowledge, has ever swallowed their blood, so he's not sure what will happen to Akane.

What she winds up as is a half-yukionna. Her hair has turned silver, she can "feel" the presence of various youma, and she has a natural cold aura when it's above freezing. Interestingly, her body actually absorbs excess cold, raising nearby temperatures up to 0 if it gets below that. She has increased strength and speed, even above her canon limits, and the colder it gets, the more power she gets.

While she's young, she does very poorly in heat, but as time progresses, she isn't affected until the temperature climbs above 70 degrees fahrenheit. However, this means she's largely home schooled, and only goes to school when it's "cold" enough for her.

Because she can sense various youma, the family has begun doing youma counseling / extermination on the side, though recently, Akane has pushed to make dealing with youma a full time job and may even seek that as a career as soon as she graduates.

Overall changes:

Akane - MUCH cooler personality. Frosty, even. She considers herself unfit for romantic interests and simply ignores flirting. Actually dated Tatewaki, but only to bore himself into not trying anymore (when she noticed he hadn't noticed anything she'd attempted to say and in fact, hadn't stopped singing praises, she walked away from the date without a another word and has, in fact, completely ignored anything he has said since). Many of the boys in the school blame Tatewaki for "ruining her for men". Akane doesn't care about the implication, save that it seems to have lowered the number of people attempting to woo her. About the only thing she remains passionate about is eliminating violent youma, which she does with ferocious gusto. Her speed and skill is actually comparable to Ranma's.

Yohko - Not dead. Her family was a bit stronger into the elimination of the supernatural, so she's been more supportive of that aspect since Akane's change, but she was the one to introduce the concept of communication with the more intelligent ones in hopes of more peaceful resolutions. She fears Akane has come to resent her body and wants to keep Akane from sinking into despair and self-loathing. Shattered her right leg during a rather wild battle a few years ago and walks with a noticeable limp. Has become friends with Nodoka via letters and will be sending her friend a notice should Ranma and Genma show up. Used to act as the mediator for the jobs, but Nabiki has shown greater skill, Yohko's allowed her to take over that position.

Nabiki - Given that the family has things to pimp, isn't actually that deep into the gambling and selling of photos. She keeps a hand in just make to sure the perverts aren't selling anything racy about her or Akane. She's more into marketing and resource management. She also helps prepare wards and similar materials used in extermination, mediates the jobs and does the accounting.

Kasumi - Not a housewife. She still picked up cooking from her mother, however she's actually Akane's strongest backer in combat. Since she lacks the enhanced strength and speed that Akane has, she's made up for it by studying deeper into the various family arts from Yohko's side.

Soun - Has kept a steady student base thanks to the random youma fights. People are thankful for being rescued, but a small number don't like being so helpless, hence Soun's self defense courses have a decent following. Usually the backup as Kasumi and Akane have shown more comptency in taking on supernatural creatures.

Possibly. It's just an idea for now, still malleable.

Hmmm... Could make make it a multicross.

Maybe make the Tendos rivals to the Sailor Senshi... could also take the approach of Senshi occasionally attacking non-human Akane, upon which she beats them up each time.

Alternatively... with her taking out Youma with human martial arts skills... even if no longer human per se, maybe senshi are bitter rivals, Tendos envying the power of the senshi but resenting that they are untrained and Senshi hating that non magically enhanced former humans can keep up with their monster counts. Wonder how they would take that.

Could be a good ero-comedy fic.

EDIT: One thing that bugs me about the Yuki-onna idea: I'm pretty sure Yuki-onna lower the temperature, not raise it, but I'm not the one writing this.

Sailor Moon is possible, though I think it'd be just as amusing to toss in various other youma hunter series, both for inspiration and for competition.

Concerning the senshi, one that was floating through my head was reliant on the scenario I'd set up: It's doubtful that the Tendos would simply let Akane change. They would make numerous attempts to see if they could reverse what had been done, including taking her to various temples.

As a result of a particular visit, Rei and Akane are acquaintances, possibly pen pals or even friends, and if I allow Akane to learn how to fly (I might limit that to colder months), perhaps partners. While strife between the Senshi and the Tendos could be interesting, the idea that Rei actually comes to stop various newbie demon hunters from trying to "purge" her friend amuses me a bit more.

Newbie Demon Hunter: "BACK TO THE DEPTHS FROM WHICH YOU- *dodges flaming arrow* YIPE!á *looks up to see Sailor Mars on a nearby rooftop with Sailor Moon and Luna* What the hell, lady?!"

Sailor Mars: (adjusting the aim on her Flame Sniper) "Back off, nutjob, or I'll aim at your OTHER head!"

Sailor Moon: (looking sheepish) "Yeaaaah, I'd just leave if I were you.á She can nail a testicle at six hundred yards.á We found that out from the last zealout attempted to 'purge' Akane."

Luna: "We didn't even know she could manifest that level of power until that guy.á She's been killing Beryl's youma by herself since then."

(for those not familiar, Beryl was in Season 1.á Rei didn't use Flame Sniper until she got her Super level in Season 4, IIRC.)
@Prince_Charon: It was a random idea. I've always thought some creatures that can manipulate elements can nullify them to a degree, for example, a fire salamander could stop fires... but they usually don't care to use such an ability as they're generally more concerned with their own desires.

That particular thought was a stray one based on the various legends where yukionna were said to save people. They couldn't start a fire, as that would be like asking a human dip their genitals in liquid nitrogen, but canceling out the cold enough that it wasn't life-threatening to other lifeforms would be possible.

Again, I'd consider this more of a brainstorm for idea, than a solid idea just yet.
