Reccomended Game Fanfiction

Iceman ... is a good enough read, I guess, but this Ramza doesn't really do the title justice. First chapter, maybe second, yes ... but beyond that, he's more an angst machine than the advertised death-seeker, and letting people pummel him in bar fights just makes him seem pathetic.

A Puzzle Without An Answer, by Master of Caffeine.
Professor Hershel Layton: esteemed archaeologist, puzzle master...and an ingenious serial killer.

I admit I didn't play the game, but that's still quite interesting to read.

Eh... He's still fighting stupid. Eventually he's bound to snap out of it.

This thread is missing Megaman.

Erico. The best Megaman author out there.

I'm not ashamed to admit I cried manly tears at Whispers in Time.

His other works are equally as good.

Guiding Light updated for those interested. C D Henry also announced that since Broken got mostly positive feedback, he'll continue that AU. A small preview is supposed to join the next chapter of GL.

And now I'm left wondering what the hell will happen next with that cliffhanger.

^%$&!!!!

%$#@ (*&$ )@#%$^$#!!!

And here I was thinking I was being original with my Persona themed ideas. Ah well, it's not exactly what I want to write... but still totally excellent. Thanks for bringing this to my attention Megaolix.

EDIT: Also, I notice that Darkforce had a hand in helping him... you and I shall have WORDS, minion. :p

I'm kind of surprised you didn't know about the fic until now. Well, glad I helped anyway.

I'll also add this to the recommended fics:

Standing in the Rain by picup
Persona 4. He didn't like the rain, it brought sadness, sorrow, regret... "You know... The rain feels really good."

Short little one-shot, but the idea has been written well in my opinion.

Wow. Someone else actually read Erico's Whispers In Time. I never thought the day would come.

And so this post isn't totally useless, here's my recommendation.

Be warned. This fic contains lemons.

The Legend of Link: Lucky Number 13 by Mr. E

This is quite possibly the only work of Zelda fanfiction where Link is scarier than Ganon. One of my favorite stories of all time, in all fandoms. It's unique.

Small thing: why does he think that Minato would win against Seta? I mean, Seta won HIS fights, and they have mostly the same personas.

Fusion spells on Minato's part. And when you compair final powers, Minato walks a bit away from most sane competition.

Fanboyism I guess? Personally, I think that if they ever met they would probably have a little fight before realizing that they aren't the enemy before going on to beat the crap out of whatever world-breaking monstrosity is loose.

Loki: Why are you so surprised that about it? Admittedly Megaman isn't exactly a gold mine for fan fiction but still...

You know... I only just noticed that. What in-universe reason could there be that Minato has fusion spells, when Souji doesn't and the Tatsuya/Maya/Toudou cast spells simultaneously for theirs?

And when you compair final powers, Minato walks a bit away from most sane competition.
The problem though, is that Minato doesn't walk away from using the Great Seal, and it's impossible to tell whether The Universe has more abilities.

Okay, according to the hack Universe can use Fusion Spells... but what else?

If you want to get technical, the Universe can do anything. You just need to keep in mind the price that you're going to pay.

Want a barrier that even Death itself can't get through? Done, just supply one sufficiently enlightened soul.

I'm not certain what the price for other things is, but still. Anything's pretty damn large. It might be why he can use the fusion spells.

Hmm... could be, could be. Personally, I think that The Universe is a fusion between every single one of Minato's Personae. Elizabeth says he has all those Personae inside of him already--maybe that's what is really happening when all of the S. Links are creating the World card.

As for the whole "seal to stop Death", I'm more inclined to say that the Universe is ridiculously powerful, but maybe infinite, and that the reason Minato could seal Death/Erebus from Death is because he'd been a seal for Pharos for so long anyway. He was literally the perfect person for the job.

I've never liked the "Pay the price for the power idea". It's a good aesop, but it's so over used, and really doesn't apply. After all, humanity wanted death, but S.E.E.S. said "No!"

Very true. I always preferred to think of it as being part despiration and part inexperience with the Universe.

Given more time, and pratice with it <s>and the blood of a Joestar</s>, Minato could have come up with a better solution.

It's what I'm using in New Game +. And yes, I'm making those references because of what I've heard the japanese name was. And I'm not regretting those Chaos Legion references either.

Because everyone I've ever asked has never read it, never heard of it and never expressed any interest in ever reading it.

The reason why The Universe can do anything has a large part to do with the meaning behind the arcana.

The Fool card represents the beginning of a life-long journey. While this journey begins in ignorance and innocence, it also inherently carries the meaning of limitless potential - provided the Fool has the determination and good fortune to keep going.

The Universe - the Thoth deck's version of The World - represents the ultimate conclusion of The Fool's journey. Should he progress this far, everything is possible for him now. He possesses both the knowledge and the ability to affect positive change on a universal scale.

To get to The Universe, The Fool must journey through life, meeting and overcoming the challenges of all the other arcana along the way. The lessons they teach and the power they bring are what shapes him into who he is at the end.

Essentially, The Universe isn't just power - it's the Fool, perfected by experience. The rest of the arcana (Social Links) each contributed their part to making The Universe what it is.

I'm well aware of the logic of the cards outside of Persona 3. What I'm trying to is figure out why he couldn't just use the Universe to pop Nyx into a pocket-plane, the way she was sealed before.

Plus, early Persona games had World cards, and they weren't ridiculous. Demeter? World Arcana. Not a great Persona, but a good one. :huh.:

The fact that Minato didn't do something ridiculously h4x on Nyx, and the existence of other World cards *(looks meaningfully at Izanagi)* implies that The Universe does have some limits.

That's all I'm trying to say.

It's times like this that I wish I could read japanese. Then I could confirm for myself if it was orignially just called The World.

In hindsight, I should have quoted properly.

Mostly, I was agreeing with you, and providing more background flavor for it.
I think that The Universe is a fusion between every single one of Minato's Personae
And I meant to say that in a way, that's right, but it's more like a fusion of the power behind all those Personae. Realization of potential, etc., etc.

I think one of the other lessons of the Arcana has to come into play, here: The Wheel of Fortune. "There's stuff out there that's bigger and stronger than you'll ever be, no matter how far you go or how strong you get. It may be depressing, but deal with it."

And another quote used in the game: Memento mori. "Remember Death." Remember that you are still only mortal.
