It started out well but ended flat. It was noting but an attempt to give a better excuse. Despite the good narrative in the beginning, the abrupt end reveals how shallow it is.

Norman Osborn randomly finds a Cosmic Cube and no one dies. The end.

It does minor changes to Peter's entire origin. Him and Gwen are hired by Norman Osborne along with a bunch of others to try to replicate a super soldier serum. Spider-Man is the result, along with Norman showing that he's bugfuck crazy when he tries to kill him and does end up murdering Aunt May and Uncle Ben.

Oh, and Gwen decides to take the serum too, so he has a partner in crime.

Ultimate Spiderman continuity had Venom be a project that was created by Peter's parents and someone else. As far as I recall.

Also, the fic's main detraction is that it's more TELL than show.
