Pretty much anything by frodogenic is a great read, very good fanfiction writer.
Has a couple of serious stories out that have the general feel of Star Wars

and
Far More than Rubies
But she has a great talent of making Vader look menacing while making the things he's doing foolish. Like Vader's Limpet.

Advent's Hymn: Verse 1 (Pre-TPM, SI, AU[?])
A rather interesting story, one of the few Star Wars fics that can keep my interest. Seems to have been skipped over by most, likely due to the rather... unique summary, it needs more reviews.

Due to lack of Update Thread in movie section I'll just post this here.
Advent's Hymn: Verse 1 has just been updated to chapter 11 and the end of the Tatooine arc.

I found <a href='http://www.fanfiction.net/u/1173609/Davin_Sunrider' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>Davin Sunrider's</a> <a href='http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4837231/1/One_Missed_Strike_Part_I' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>One missed Strike</a> series to be pretty decent.
Obi-Wan misses his final attack during his duel with Anakin on Mustafar, and Anakin never has to go into the suit. Anakin kills Palpatine and takes over the Empire himself.
The first two parts don't deviate that much from canon, sometimes whole scenes are lifted straight out of the original trilogy films, but the third part is vastly different. And it's a pretty good read overall.
There's also <a href='http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3502352/1/In_the_Empires_Shadow' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>In the Empire's Shadow</a>, which is set during the time between Episodes V and VI. It's a fairly interesting read, with lots of fast paced action sequences, some angst, and it features Rogue Squadron.

Are there fics.... that focus on stormtroopers? Or just one as he has to put up with not getting noticed and killed by vader, trying not to fuck up and getting killed by vader, trying to lead troops who are idiots so he doesn't get noticed and killed by vader and generally being the only individual who seems he can shoot strait.

Something that has been plagueing me for years (at eighteen months, that is)
I once read a SW fic, AU-ish, that had Emperor Luke Skywalker succeeding the recently departed Emperor Vader and receiving an "ambassador" from the Rebel Alliance in the form of Mara Jade.
It was, by all means, not an action-y fic, more of a socio-political piece as Luke (very slowly) works through Mara Jade's onion-like layers of distrust to show her both his and his father's plan - partially subverting the fascist Empire from within to combat the inevitable onset of stagnation by opening political negotiations w/the Rebels.
And that'S the last piece I remember, about halfway through the fic, then my firefox crashed and lost all tabs / bookmarks, and I never found it again.
