TFF: Assault on Yaoi!

Okay, I gotta figure out how to make this Math work. I'm trying to figure out how fast my Space Ship goes, both normally and in it's form of Hyperspace.

Unfortunately right now I've got it going 1% Light Speed and 20,000x faster then that in Hyperspace.

I think that might be just a bit too fast.

Probably a bit. Sojourner's top sublight speed is somewhere around .999 percent the speed of light, but to avoid relativistic effects, her full impulse is about 25% the speed of light, or 75,000 kilometers per second. She can go to the moon and back from Earth, roundtrip, in about 12 seconds.

As for faster than light travel, her official top speed is warp 9.2, which is 1,692 times the speed of light. She can cover 5 lightyears in 27 hours. She can go faster thanks to Tweek's rather radical modifications to the engines. They've gotten her up to warp 9.9, 3,053 times the speed of light, but she was never designed to go that fast so it's for emergencies only. Her engines are far more efficient than they were previously, so she can hold higher warp speeds longer.

Of course, Tweek has come up with even more bizarre ways for them to get around while drunk or thanks to sudden flashes of inspiration, but I'll keep that limited to avoid making them uber.

I thought Star Trek Warp speeds were X=Y, where X is the number of "Warp" and Y is the multiplier over light speed.

In that case my math should work out pretty well, I'll just tweak things a bit.

Actually, the old system is Warp factor number x cubed times the speed of light. The new system is, well... Weird, at best.

Let's see here.

I think I'll bring The Skirmisher's sub-light speed to about 20% the Speed of Light, and set the Hyperspace speed at 4,000 Times.

That should iron out all the little issues with speed.

How typical of me, trying to act moderately responsible and then not posting for two days in a row. :headbanger:

Working on it, though. I swear it. Though right now I've also got to catch up on the new posts in the story thread + AJT's apparently extensive profile.

As for a monster manual... well, I've got most of the basic enemies already thought up, so it'd really only be a question of just typing down the info. I'll get to it, but I want to get my next story post up before I start writing anything else.

EDIT:

Noticed that there have been some discrepancies about locations n' stuff. Now, if I had a scanner, I'd draw you guys a detailed map and then put it up here in all its glory, but since I don't, you'll have to do with an improvised Paint version.

Here you go:

Just assume that the unlabeled white areas are the road networks and miscellaneous city background. Everything else that's moderately important is labeled.

Sorry for the late post. Decided to go with a simple base design for the girls abilities. Leave the fun stuff for later.

Okay, the bad guys are sure to notice a 300-meter long starship popping up in orbit overhead, so appropriate reactions to this should be made by the bad and good guys.

Done. Feel free to hook up with my Neko-Arcs and my character eventually...

Posted. I'd been wanting to put this up. Serena and Ariana are two very special NPCs. ^_^

And oi, Epsilon. Mind editing your location time a bit? You fastforwarded 15 minutes over the latest time given (9:30 PM), and though some flexibility is allowed, we do need some cohesion with the timeframes here. >_>

Hm. *getting a feeling of deja vu...*

And Squall is beginning to batten down the hatches.

Afterall, spaceship don't just appear out of nowhere without making any intelligent bad guy getting ready for a fight.

Indeed.

Hope you don't mind if I took any liberties with your ship's armament and attributes.

Also, how many ships are in-system at the moment, just out of curiosity?

Epsilon: Don't worry, you'll be contacted soon. But an armed starship approaching you usually take precedence over blinking beams.

What are Shinsou beams, BTW? Are they lasers? Particle weapons? What?

There's my ship, The Skirmisher. Locke's ship, your ship, Preventer Squall's along with assorted Yaoist Ships. I assume there's somewhere between a few dozen and a few hundred of assorted varieties.

In Melty Blood, they are energy attacks but in this case, I'm using them as a signal (and thus my character's warning not to hit the vessel) since the TFF communication array is presumed to be out of commission at the moment.

Ahhh. Thanks Epsilon.

Well, again, Sojourner just popping out of nowhere, especially right after an assault on TFFA city, would probably get a large number of space-guns pointed at them. And TFF ships probably pointing guns at them, again, in light of said attack.

So, don't be shy about pointing big, powerful weapons at Sojourner. They're kind of used to it by now...

I'm operating under the assumption that city defense systems are down with how easily the Yaoi force invaded us...

Still, lots of ships in-system. And hey, if you've got a spaceship, have space battles. That's my motto... One of them, anyway. ;)

This one's directed at twin blade: is the story you give LG true, or are you bullshitting? 'Cause my character(s) know just about everything that has gone down at TFF Academy for the past twelve years.

Just a role-playing consideration. KTHXBAI.

What I'd like to point out is how easily Lady Genocide just heard the story... and then accepted it at face value and holstered her pistol without asking a single question, going so far as to provide TB with a folder full of information.

I mean, sure, I haven't expanded on her character all that much, but I think it'd be pretty obvious that it would take a fair bit more convincing for her to do that. >_>

If he's telling the truth, we can excuse it by having Genocide be a a psychic specializing in mind to mind contact. I.E. she reads his mind, and decides not to make him sweat, given the crisis.

Speaking of psychics, Kes is one. So if anyone would like to have her pick up a message or relay something, feel free.

Watashiwa and Nanashi. As soon as she's in range, she's going to be hearing one guy's inane inner monologue and quasi-insane laughter (Nanashi) and another guy's inane internal monologue and running commentary (Watashiwa). When they're in high stress situations (like, oh COMBAT) both of them tend to broadcast their thoughts. Nanashi is better at hiding them, but he cuts loose when he's blowing shit up. Watashiwa needs to concentrate at some level to do it.

If she can broadcast her thoughts, she's more than welcome to tell the idiots to STFU.
