Try firefox, it has a decent built in spell checker, not as good as Microsoft Word, apparently, but it should help a bit.

Who learns latin as their first language?

If you really want to use Microsoft Word, you should go to Fanfiction.net and download OpenOffice, which is essentially the same thing.

On the topic of the game, I think each player should draw up three simple stock characters, to giev the crew a bit more flavor. No need to develop it to PC levels, just a simple profile so everyone can pick them up and use them.

Example:

Name: Steve Stein
Age: 38
Job: Computer Engineer
Bio: A generally unnoticable guy, Steve is borderline obsessive with creating the perfect AI. His age, coupled with his social ineptitude, has led to this to transform into creating the perfect AI/Girlfriend. Steve tends talk in short, compressed sentences unless the topic of AI comes up, at which point he can go on for hours about the subtle nuances and wonderous capabilities of AI, his in particular.

It's short and simple, essentially a name and a hook. Steve COULD evolve to recurring/guest star rank, possibly getting his very own episode, and perhaps one day even become a PC if someone new joins and likes his character, but he could easily just remain as he is.

Couple More:

Name: John "Redd" Targun
Age: 21
Job: Espatier
Bio: John is a wide eyed idealist fresh out of training, and overreacts to pretty much anything. Despite his low marksmanship scores, he is extremely gung-ho about hostile encounters, most likely due to too many action flicks when he was younger. John spends a lot of time in the shooting range and watching action movies. Since he recently celebrated becoming twenty one, he is still in the phase of drinking as much as possible when off duty.

Name: Angela Touchstone
Age: 26
Job: Espatier: Squad Commander
Bio: Angela is surprisingly experienced for her age, having grown up on a war torn planet. She is fairly desensitized to violence, and is always the first to react when a fight breaks out. She wholeheartedly believes that discipline is the key to victory, and trains her squad relentlessly to instill this in them. She has a very short temper in that regard, and is often screaming as her subordinates when they don't perform perfectly, most notably at the newest member of her squad, John Targun.

Edit: At what point will the story start? Will it begin a couple of days before launch, immediately before launch, a few days after launch, or a few weeks/months after launch, when we reach the edge of controlled territory?

#79
Good idea Steve, I'll be adding the captain's profile and a few other PCs later.

It'll begin about two months after the launch of the current mission. The Seraphim will have settled a bit, but everybody is still pretty new to eachother.

Again im sorry one of the problems with these computers is I cant download anything or erase for that matter or i wouldnt need a proxie and I'd have microsoft word to help. I am gonna put moee effort into mkaing myself clearer.

and AJT i was wording my question badly its not your fault

zerohour both my parents knew latin and used it to talk privately to each other and in there own home without company (or with company they didnt like/trust) I heard it the most I started speaking it but sadly I mixed It with other languages so there Im the type of person who learns latin first.

Well here are my stock characters and where they can usually be found when not on duty.

Droid HQ (Actually storage room 47, the seven having been sprayed on)

Storage room 47, one of the many storage rooms upon the USNS Seraphim. Formerly used to store mundane equipment, it was soon remodelled by the five sentient droids that were assigned to the shipÆs crew. It now contains a couch, an ODS Television set, several old video game consoles, a cupboard full of books, a weapon closet, a recharge station, and a kennel. The droids mainly use this room to relax and discuss various things.

Name: Blip
Model Number: N/A
Age: Unknown
Birthplace: Unknown
Race: Sentient Helper (?) Droid
Bio: Blip is a helper-bot, designed to perform little errands around various types of starships. Built without the ability to speak, he communicates via the neural network and a data pad he carries around. No one knows where the little robot came from or how he works. He was found in an old storage locker and was reactivated. Due to damage to his memory banks, he has no memories prior to reactivation and his mind is like a naive child. He was repaired and upgraded with a neural network and was sent to work on one of the ships that were on the expedition project. despite his timid nature, he likes to help whenever he can. Has been know to build dangerous traps out of junk without realising it.

Name: BrandR
Model Number: BTL û 1492
Age: 14 human years
Birthplace: USNS Warhammer, Droid Foundry
Race: Sentient combat droid class IV
Bio: One of the ten custom-made self-aware AI battle droids, built on the USNS Warhammer. BrandR had hoped to distinguish himself during the war against the Neelaa. However the war had ended before he could see any real action.
After the war, BrandR and his siblings were assigned to various different ships after the USNS Warhammer was decommissioned, BrandR himself found himself on a military ship, patrolling for pirates and illegal salvagers. For 9 years he was stuck in this post, the only real incident being the prevention of an escaping criminal. Then the Juggernaut incident occurred. He was recalled for upgrades, military retraining and reequipping. After five more years, he applied for a post on a ship going on the surveying expeditions. Having been designed for melee combat but never actually been used, BrandR tends to react to surprises with military tactics and his energy-bonded vibroblades. Speaks using military slang.

Name: Eastwood
Model Number: TRF û 1314
Age: 5 human years
Birthplace: Japan
Race: Sentient dual-mode escort droid.
Bio: Eastwood is a rare droid with the ability to change his form between his bipedal humanoid gunner form and his star-rider form. He was once part of a mercenary group, before one day deciding to go out and explore the world. Eastwood tends to prattle on and on about his travels when he not on duty. While droids tend to listen eagerly, organics tend to try and escape this. Once he had explored the world of planet Earth, he decided to apply for a post on one of the ships that were part of the Otherspace expedition project, in order to explore more worlds.

Since you can't download anything I'll make a list of online spellcheckers, that way you can sort through them to find the one that works best for you.

http://orangoo.com/spellcheck/
http://www.spellchecker.net/spellcheck/
http://www.jspell.com/public-spell-checker.html
http://www.markhorrell.com/tools/spellcheck.asp
http://www.spelljax.com/
http://spellcheck.cc/

Also, Do we even HAVE 47 storage rooms? I'm gonna need a list or a map or something. Not of the whole ship, just the Storage Facility's, since I'm kinda gonna need to know where all of that is and how much we have, since I'm in charge of it.

5 Floors...

I don't need super detailed, just black lines, so I have a rough idea of what I have to work with, plus I'll need to know where the FPS is gonna go.

As for Stock Character's...

Name: Sterben Du Arschloch (Supposed to be 'Die You Asshole' in German, most likely wrong)
Age: 28
Job: Espatier: Squad Commander
Bio: Direct, to the point, lethal as fuck, ruthless and possibly a bit of a Sociopath, he believes that the ENEMY. MUST. DIE, WHO his Enemy is is negotiable, with his superior officer's, act's a BIT like Sousuke Sagara, only FAR more ruthless and lethal, and far less silly, he trains his men to MAKE SURE that corpse is dead, by smashing it's brains out, they carry around a Sledge Hammer so they don't waste ammo. Doesn't take prisoner's. EVER. Incidentally, he and his team are never sent on diplomatic, live capture, escort or bodyguard missions, which is odd, since he's decent at the first, the second is understandable really, and he is actually very skilled at the last two, though he usually traumatizes his charges...

If I remember right there are 24 Espatiers on the ship, so two (or three, maybe four, depends on the size of the squads) Squad Commander's sounds about right, and we need to hammer out the higher members of the crew anyway.

Name: Mangeur De Merde (Supposedly, French for Shit Eater.)
Age: 34
Job: Head Chef (Sometimes refers to himself as 'Head Food Technician', it's difficult to tell if he's joking or not.)
Bio: He takes GREAT pride in his culinary skills, NO insult to his food is to be tolerated, Unless you want to spend a month eating what may as well be cardboard for all its taste and texture, Contrary to his name, he actually IS as good a chef as he thinks he is, during the Orientation where the crew member's are introduced to the upper crew member's, he usually claims to be able to make anything.

Name: Tawagoto Seik (That's in the American order, in this order it translates to Shit Fuck, in the Japanese order it translates to Fuck Shit, I wanted to name him Smart Ass but it was to long, since the Japanese only have two names (for the most part), atleast... I think so...)
Age: 31
Job: Head Scientist
Bio: his 'catchphrases' are: "kagaku no tame ni!" (For Science!) and "kagaku no tame no" (For Science (without shouting.) also says them in English when speaking to someone else, but will still yell the first when excited, Is Extremely good at... well science in general really, though his casual disregard for the safety of anyone but himself in the pursuit of knowledge MIGHT offset people and cause them to doubt his position, but rest assured, no one is more qualified... If they where we would have replaced him already. Maybe.
...
It must be done, FOR SCIENCE!

If there's 24 Espatiers, probably two squads of twelve, divided into three four-man fire teams, though I don't know where Espatier pilots fall in the roster.

What the hell, I'll see if I can contribute to the crew.

Name: Joseph Gervik
Nickname: "Glacier"
Rank: Corporal (or Espatier equivalent)
Age: 28
Occupation: Espatier Fire Team Bravo Leader (under Angela's command)
Bio: Probably the most cool headed of the Espatier fire team leaders, he plays by the book when he needs to, but always uses judgement on all his actions and orders. As such he is most often called upon for missions with more diplomatic ties, where a good impression is needed. Of course, he isn't infallible and can sometimes get into grating conflict with the other team leaders and his superiors, especially when he disagrees with an order or decision that directly effects his four man fire team.

His fire team specializes in diplomatic, covert insertion, infiltration and stealth missions.

Name: Nicholas Aggretson
Age: 36
Occupation: Security Personnel (WepSpec).
Bio: Nicholas is a grim, cynical man who is primarily in charge of the ships offensive and defensive weaponry. He makes sure all of the guns on their ship are ready to endure the shock of combat and still perform as required. He can sometimes be a little unreasonable on his men and his equipment, but it has payed off more than it's hurt. When the battle starts, he usually takes a role as the Weapons Systems Operator, unleashing a hellstorm of death from the guns on whomever happens to be on the wrong end of their weapons.

More than once he has gone into battle singing the old song 'Praise The Lord and Pass the Ammunition' at the top of his lungs.

Name: Libby Erikker
Call-sign: "Leopard"
Age: 23
Occupation: Espatier Pilot
Bio: In a unit known for its elite status as warriors, Libby doesn't really seem to meet the stereotype. She's the type that would almost look better on a cheerleading squad than behind the stick of a gunship. But while her looks might say 'weak' her attitude is 100% Espatier. With a sharp tongue, a knack for piloting to perfection when the ordanence is flying, and a total willingness to backtalk even Lt. Sterben, Libby flies the gunships or transports like she was born in them.

Libby is also trained in ground combat and is able to meet Espatier requirements for small arms usage, but she'd rather be firing the weapons on her gunship.

Dang it I can't resist.

Sterben's 'hobbies': Creating/inventing new weaponry, these weapons are ludicrously, ruthlessly lethal to the point of hilarity, one of his 'creations' is the 'Hellgun'.

It is basically two Guns nailed to a Flamethrower.

That is, a HEAVILY modified and upgraded Flamethrower with a range of 50 feet the first 5 of which are blue, and two armor piercing Assault Rifle's.

The thought that lead to it's creation are a few 'problems' Sterben had:

1. Enemies are usually armored, so setting them on fire doesn't work as well as it should.

2. I (Sterben) can't shoot the Enemy with more then one heavy weapon at once.

3. Armor Piercing Weapons are long range and aren't very good close range weapons. Flamethrower's are th opposite.

4. The Enemy doesn't die fast enough.

Solution? Set them on fire WHILE SHOOTING THEM! It's pure genius! the AP let's the fire get to their skin, the cloth under armor is usually flammable, the flame's obscure the Enemy's view. I can burn them if they get close and shoot them if they run away. And I can make the Enemy die EVEN FASTER if I use Chlorine Triflouride for the Flamethrower's fire, Acidic Poisonous Fumes? Fire that makes water pretty much explode and burns even wet sand? Even burns the shit in fire extinguishers? Yes.

(^THAT fuel is kept in black sealed container's with a Hazard Symbol and a Poisonous Skull and Crossbones mark, there are only two of those canister's on the ship, enough for 20 minutes of non stop Chlorine Triflouride Flame throwing, the regular red canisters have a far less... Heartlessly cruel fuel type, though each canister still lasts 10 minutes, and the Hellgun hold's two at a time.)

The two Assault Rifle's have two setting and two bullet types, both share name's, they are Regular, and Armor Piercing, this adds up to 4 levels of AP, Regular - Regular, Regular - Armor Piercing, Armor Piercing - Regular and Armor Piercing - Armor Piercing.

Their are two triggers, the Flamethrowers trigger is in the usual location, the two Assault Rifle's is just blow that, it is pulled using the middle finger, to symbolize giving a big 'FUCK YOU' to the poor bastard your aiming at.

-------------

Next up is the Tri-Gatling Cannon, which come's in two types, Tri-Gatling Cannon: Laser and Tri-Gatling Cannon: Rail.

Basically KOSMOS' three barreled Gatling Gun's, but the large protrusion underneath the three Gatling guns is either a Laser Cannon or a Rail Cannon.

Was Originally meant for use by Mecha, but people can use them if you can get three really strong guys (Espatiers) to wield it, one to shoot and aim and two guys to hold it up while the first shoots and aim's, but god DAMN if it isn't effective.

One has a Laser Cannon and the other a Rail Cannon, Obviously.

------------

He also made a modified Rocket Launcher, the tip/muzzle has a type of powerful energy saw, so he can jam the front into nearly anything and it will saw through, also has a type of ejection system to push the 'cookie' of material out of the barrel rapidly so a Rocket can be safely fired, it can hold up to Eight rocket's, It's heavy, it's trigger has three setting's: Safety, Normal, Soft, in soft setting th trigger is EXTREMELY easy to pull, a light yank on a string is enough.

Only Gahgi (He supplies the materials, of course he would know) and maybe the Captain (Might end up a case of 'You Didn't Ask') know about these weapons, (I might come up with more), there's also Sterben's ability to seemingly ALWAYS have a weapon at hand, usually heavy weapons, it get's absurd when he show's up with a ROCKET LAUNCHER that he didn't leave his room with, without ever going to the storage facilities, it's like he pulls them from thin air. Also notable, the ship's weapon's cash has more and higher quality arm's then it should.

(He doesn't actually pull them from thin air, it's not a power or anything, but I'm gonna save the explanation for when it's actually relevant so I don't spoil it.)

If the GM want's an explanation I'll PM him one.

@AJT: Who's steve?

@zedalb: Sounds like you had an interesting childhood.

@Rooster: I would think that 24 Esptiers would break down into 3 eight man teams, each which can be broken down into 2 four man squads. Each tem would have a Commander, a Sub-Commander and six rank and file. I suppose oen of the Commanders could be a "Supreme Commander" in charge of all Espatiers. I guess we'll leave that up to AJT.

@Aarik: Since Sterben is a Espatier, I think at least one Science Officer or Engineer would know about his weapons, since there are probably at least a dozen factors that could lead to those blowing up in his face that only someone with a strong grasp of advanced science type things would know to look out for. Xaosite's character might be an option, or you could cook up a NPC character that helps him out with construction and testing.

Zero: Right, we'll leave AJT to decide. I guess I took a few liberties when I heard he was basing them off of the Marines rank and structure, especially fireteams.

Wikipedia said:
Fireteams generally consist of four or fewer soldiers and are usually grouped by two or three teams into a squad or section.

--------

United States Marine Corps
The United States Marine Corps summarizes its fireteam organization with the mnemonic "ready-team-fire-assist", the following being the arrangement of the fireteam when in a column:

-Rifleman: acts as a scout for the fireteam; "Ready".
-Team Leader (M203): also works as the grenadier; "Team".
-Automatic Rifleman (currently M249 SAW, formerly BAR): also serves as second in command for the fireteam; "Fire".
-Assistant Automatic Rifleman: carries extra ammunition; "Assist".

Here are three stock characters, part of Yuuka's medical staff. While AJT mentioned there are four medics in addition to the doctor, I believe three is more than sufficient. The fourth can just be a medical equivalent of a red shirt or something

Name: Colin McNaughton
Age: 32
Birthplace: St. Marcelli's Research Arcology and University, Mars
Background:

Born and raised at St. Marcelli's, and was childhood friends with Yuuka Murasaki for a number of years. Displayed a talent for medical and humanitarian work, but low aptitude test scores and a disregard for St. Marcelli's 'ivory tower' environment resulted in Colin never being accepted in any of St. Marcelli's prestigious programs. He joined the navy at 18, became a naval Hospital Corpsman, and would be assigned to serve alongside the Espatiers on a number of occasions. He received a severe knee injury in a recent skirmish that has since relegated him primarily to a desk/medical bay job. Colin trains regularly, however, for the eventual day where he might be required to join a team of Espatiers once again.

Tough and rugged, Colin is a surprisingly kind and compassionate man. He believes in using his talents for doing good and going out into the world to help people directly. During his service with the Espatiers, he would risk life-and-limb and do whatever it takes to save wounded soldiers and civilians alike - and has earned a lot of respect from plenty of Espatiers for doing so. He takes losses very seriously and personally, however.

While he was childhood friends with Yuuka Murasaki, he is no longer as close to her. Colin was disgusted by her experimental work, and dislikes her arrogance and lack of compassion as a doctor. Since being assigned to the Seraphim, he has frequently clashed with Yuuka in trying to urge her to exercise care and compassion in her work. Yuuka feels he is naive and doesn't understand or comprehend what needs to be done in order for science to move forward.

Name: Jacques LeCartier
Age: 26
Birthplace: Montreal, Canada
Background:

Graduated from McGill University and joined the navy shortly after. Jacques is upbeat, cheerful and is extremely dedicated to his work and for the chance to see and learn more - part of the reason he joined the navy and signed on for the journey. Not much else to say about him, aside from being a diehard hockey fan - Jacques owns a vintage Montreal Canadiens jersey, which he hangs in his quarters for good luck. Good friends with Colin McNaughton and Nicole van der Walt, but does his best to stay out of Colin's problems with Yuuka. Yuuka appreciates his intelligence and aptitude, but dislikes his unrelenting enthusiasm and optimism.

Name: Nicole van der Walt
Age: 22
Birthplace: Johannesburg, South Africa
Background:

Born to a wealthy family and raised in a sheltered life, Nicole's sudden realization of people in poorer conditions resulted in her dedicating much of her young life to humanitarian activities. Along the way of pursuing a career in medicine, she joined the navy and was later assigned on the Seraphim to work as part of the medical staff. Like Colin, she believes in doing good in the world with her talents, but perhaps not to level of Colin's sheer idealism.

Due perhaps to her age, Nicole is highly determined and motivated and seeks to help anywhere she can, to the best of her ability, and is always learning something new working alongside Colin and Jacques and the various others she serves with. In all, Nicole is a very capable young medic, but her lack of experience makes her occasionally nervous and shakey. She also tries too hard to impress her long time idol and inspiration, Yuuka Murasaki - who privately considers Nicole to be too much of a kiss-ass at times.

The last one is 'Graham'. He's just...there.

How are these? Too much or just enough? Realistically, I don't know how much Jacques or Nicole will actually factor into the story or any interactions with Yuuka. If anything, Colin is the more important of the three because he can act as a check-and-balance for Yuuka if they're in the middle of a medical matter and she decides she wants to do something drastic.

Nah I'll have Tawagoto do it, He's more then Amoral enough to condone the use of Chlorine Triflouride on some poor bastard(s). But Sterben WOULD have decent knowledge on the science of how the weapons he kills people with work.

Ehh that just means Sterben knows enough to work with Tawagoto on them.

Wait dang it, I forgot one thing, the Hellgun's Flamethrower has a cutter nozzle that sticks up like a sight normally, but you can flip it down to get an obscenely powerful blowtorch, can be used like a bayonet if needed, if clumsily.

EDIT: I just realized, I misread something, we DON'T actually have a head scientist, I thought it was Yuuka, but she's Medical Staff, So Tawagoto is now Head Scientist... Why do I have chills...

I'll Edit his profile in a sec...

... Done.

Character bio:

Name: Captain Constance Giiresbee

Age: 31

Birthplace: Annapolis, Maryland, United States, Earth, Sol System

Physical Description:

Lithe, very young looking, with a prehensile tail that matches her skin tone. Usually wears her black uniform. When off-duty, usually wears loose, Oriental-style clothing. Is not particularly well endowed or curvy, but very nimble and athletic.

Background: Born to Neelaa refugees who fled to Earth in 2512, Constance was given an Earth name by her parents to better facilitate her acclimation to their new home. A cheerful and precocious child, Constance excelled in her studies but was a bit of a social butterfly due to her appearance. Graduating from high school at the age of 16, she entered the United Space Nations of Sol Navy through the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, excelling in tactical and strategic management with an aptitude for command. She was only a mid-shipman aboard the USNS Enterprise at the outbreak of the Neelaa War.

Upon the revelation that her people were the aggressors, some in the USNSN command structure expressed concerns about the loyalty of Neelaa spacers and Espatiers in their forces. Some in the media did the same. However, Constance went on record to an undercover reporter aboard the Enterprise that Earth was her home, and "those people" were not hers. Her heroic actions in saving fifty-one of her crewmen during an engagement from a sealed compartment were played up by the majority of the media as proof that the Neelaa in the armed forces were just as loyal, if not more, than the humans. Constance, however, did not like the spotlight and avoided the media however she could, requesting assignments on the front lines to stay in the fight and away from the cameras.

She became XO of the Enterprise through a field commission, and served as an adviser to Admiral Ramajee during the campaign to defend Groombridge 1618 from Neelaa invasion. The Enterprise served as flagship, and despite the Coalition's technological and numerical inferiority to the Neelaa, thanks in part to Constance's advice the system was held for over nine months. The discovery of the Otherspace drive and the rapid reinforcement of the system by Coalition forces allowed them to be driven out. Constance continued to serve as a strategic and tactical adviser to Admiral Ramajee, and took personal command of a refit Enterprise during the successful assault on Alpha Fornacis, a Neelaa logistics hub. Her advisory role kept her out of the spotlight, but it also kept pushing her towards a desk job when her real goal was to command a starship. All the same, she became very well known to the Neelaa High Command.

After the conclusion of the war, Constance took a leave of absence and traveled to a number of worlds in the Coalition. Returning one year later, she was offered promotion to commander and a job as a liaison to Admiral Grunnings, heading up the peacekeeping mission on the Coalition/Neelaa border. She accepted with the request to be put through command school, and performed her job very well for over ten years. She declined promotion a few times due to her expertise being considered so valuable. However, in June of 2541 a Neelaa refugee ship crossed the border, bearing with it her paternal grandparents. Happy to connect with this aspect of her past, she requested and got permission from the Admiral to meet with them in person and allow them to land on the Coalition Colony on the planet New Bombay.

It was a disaster. The Neelaa had planted Constance's grandparents in a successful plan to destroy the New Bombay colony. Over ten thousand people were killed when the "refugee" ship exploded on the colony's spaceport. Due to guilt and grief Constance suffered a nervous breakdown, while the Neelaa were able to use the incident to facilitate fewer defections from their space to the Coalition due to the fear of additional attacks of this nature. A year of downtime and therapy later, Constance was offered a promotion to captain and a job as a professor at the newly formed Joint Coalition Forces Academy on the Proxima Colony. She declined, instead requesting command of a survey vessel. She was given the USNS Seraphim, and took command February 2543.

Additional Remarks:

She is an excellent shot and fairly good at hand to hand combat. Due to being raised on Earth, a lot of Neela body language escapes her, particularly with the tail. This was a critical error on her part that helped the New Bombay attack occur.

She is still getting the hang of commanding without a senior officer over her shoulder, and thus sometimes seems under confident in her judgments. She enjoys chess and backgammon, as well as the latest video games. She also enjoys knitting and cooking (though she keeps these facts to herself), and was on the Academy track team (she was also on the gymnastics team, but her tail was thought to give her an unfair advantage and so she declined to participate in competition).

Due to the Neela's very slow aging process, she still looks like a teenager: Something she is rather annoyed about, as she feels it makes her have to work twice as hard to get respect. She is not particularly feminine by human standards, and is very pragmatic about her appearance. She got a skin marking per Neelaa tradition underneath her right eye, in the shape of the crescent moon to symbolize the day she was born.

What kind of religions are there in the 26th century?

EDIT: Let me rephrase that,

What are the main religions that exist in the 26th century?

Have new ones popped up? Has some of the religion that were present in the 21st century died out?

Are the fanatics that purge heretics with fire and laser spam?

Pretty much every religion around today is still around, though some only exist on colony worlds where the dominant culture/religion settled, such as a Taoist world settled by a joint project between China, Vietnam, and Japan. Christianity remains the dominant religion, though Protestantism has spread far further than Catholicism. Islam went through a Reformation which led to a significant drop in their numbers, and after oil was rendered obsolete the Middle East became something of a backwater part of the world until the move to space. A large number of orbital colony and space elevator construction firms are Middle Eastern in origin as space technology became their new bread and butter. Hinduism is the second largest human religion, as India was one of the major partners in the original migration into space. Judaism is still around, but still a pretty small population.

There are no more Mormons on Earth-They all moved to a colony world they named "Maxroy's Purchase". The Scientologists also went out into deep space but nobody's heard from them since. As for new religions, the Atheism movement (ironically enough) turned into the Church of Gene Roddenberry, which defines itself as an "anti-religion" but acts like a religion in pretty much every way. True Atheists are generally defined as people who are NOT Roddenberries. The Beatles Cult flourishes, though you don't have to be a member of it to appreciate their music, as well as the Jackson Church. Some guys tried to start an Obama cult but most people don't really remember him except as an historical footnote.

The Birrin have a state religion that is very flexible, happily incorporating new gods, including ones for the fundamental forces of the universe. The Aghasti have an animistic religion not too different from Native American or Shinto traditions, though involving more tentacles. The Tur-Han have a great warrior Prophet from whom they take their name, who is known as "Tur-Han the Most Awesome at War, Sex and Drinking Contests" (literal translation). The Neelaa religions are very Buddhist in concept, focusing on emotional control and inner enlightenment. The Hoppers are also pretty animistic, but added a God of Machine Guns recently.

And yes, there are religious fanatics still around. However, their percentage of the population is a hell of a lot smaller than today.

should we be adding religons to our bios?
Unless religion is a significant part of your character, I figure no.
