In a new featurette, Driver and director J. J. Abrams explain how Kylo turned into such a complicated baddie. Driver explains that Luke's teachings played a big role, as Kylo's separation from his parents during his Jedi training made him grow resentful of Han and Leia as he began to harness his powers.
"Imagine the stakes for him in his youth," Driver says of Ren. "Having all these special powers and having your parents absent during that process on their own agendas, equally as selfish. He's lost in the world that he was raised in, and feels that he was kind of abandoned by the people he was closest with."
Yeah, all right, Kylo. Basically, this privileged child is complaining because he had a cool-ass superpower and his parents allowed him to train that power with his legendary uncle who also happens to be the person most famous for having that same cool-ass power. I wish my childhood were so rough that I were stronger than all the other kids and my parents let me harness that power so I could be even stronger. This is why we hate teenagers.
