Naruto Times the anime one-upped the manga

It's a wonderful idea, but only 640 x 480 resolution? That sucks.

And I didn't think it was possible for the fight against Kaguya to get any more ridiculously over-the-top! That's one way to expand Kakashi's role - Super Kakashi vs. Eclipse Bunny! Go go Susanoo-mecha giant kaiju battle!

Lol at Sakura taking a turn fighting Kaguya one-on-one like she can roll with the demi-gods.

I lol'd when everyone suddenly decided to do their best Kenshiro impression at the same time. Atatatata!!! (Since when can Sakura create giant rapid-fire punching chakra fists?)

Holy multiple interrupting flashback fights Batman! And so many cutscenes. Sasuke vs. Naruto has got to be the longest, most overly dramatic battle I've ever seen in a video game. Also it's kind of hilarious seeing Naruto blasting Sasuke with literally dozens of supposedly deadly Rasengans, especially when it's already reached the point where they are supposed to be almost completely out of chakra. Quite a contrast to the hours-long bare-knuckled slugfest that was the end of that fight in the manga.

What. They seriously censored Naruto and Sasuke's amputated arms. Why? That is so stupid.

Yet, ironically, it's made possible in a way far more sensible than canon. Obito pulling off what's essentially an extreme of version of the Transcription Seal: Amaterasu before dying make so much more sense than teleporting from the afterlife as a ghost to possess Kakashi.

True. Although considering that Susanoo is a jutsu that Obito had literally never used before, it's still pretty fucking ridiculous that he could somehow transfer the perfected Complete Body version of it to another person (regardless of whether he did it by means of transcription seal or possession). Sasuke at least had to use incomplete versions of Susanoo for two fights before he fully mastered it, and he's the reincarnation of Indra!

I want to, really, but I've been reading or writing too much and always forget.

She did KO both Naruto AND Kurama. And now Kurama is afraid of her.

The Keikaku is really shining.

Lol at Naruto's friends all posing with his unconscious body and apologizing to Hinata. Guess Naruto must have gotten pretty hammered after his inauguration. Must have been trying to suppress the memory of his daughter transforming into a psychotic sadistic maniac over a fucking teddy bear. Poor dude.

How the hell did Himawari manage to KO and terrifying Kurama with a little poke? The literal village sized chakra monster that can create tsunamis with a wave of it's tails? This joke is so exaggerated it's honestly kind of stupid.

And I still don't really understand what Himawari's deal was in that scene. Was KOing Naruto an accident? Because she was "locked on" to Boruto and Naruto just jumped in the way. (Although she seemed to be aiming at the wall above Boruto's head?) She didn't even seem to notice that she hurt her dad. But I have a hard time believing she could have hit his pressure points on accident. Sealing tenketsu is a super advanced gentle fist technique that requires a strong Byakugan; most Hyuuga can't do it. Also that was apparently her first time awakening her Byakugan, so how/when would she even have learned how to seal tenketsu?

Sealing tenketsu's only advanced because it's a pain in the ass to see and hit them in mid-combat, otherwise it's just like any other gentle fist strike which both kids were apparently taught to some degree. Himawari hit Naruto's tenketsu in a once-in-a-million fluke when he got in the way.

Himawari hit Kurama through the tenketsu. In the nuts.

Clearly Himawari is actually the reincarnation of Kaguya, with all her power intact. Poor little Himawari doesn't know sometimes why she gets the urge to REND, SLAUGHTER, DEVOUR YOUR FATHER but it happens, and sometimes she goes with it only to stop just shy of killing her father and brother with her OP strength

Hey, the anime decided to give Kakuzu's ex-partner a face:

He looks remarkably unremarkable but then so does Hidan. No revealed skills aside from using a big sword because originality is dead.

Is he the giant guy we only saw a silhouette of in Part 1 of the manga, who never reappeared in Part 2?

Knyght

The Collector
Apparently he's even bigger than Kakuzu so I guess that's the idea.

Edit: Or not. I'm reading the episode summaries which is basically saying that Hidan was the silhouette because he joins up around they hear about the Konoha Crush.

What? The mysterious giant silhouette towers over Kisame's silhouette, and Kisame is 6' 4''. The giant dude is at least nine feet tall, Hidan is only 5' 8''.

Consistency has never been the animators' strong point. Looks like they were adapting the Itachi novels and then decided to throw in their own ideas to fill in the gap between him joining Akatsuki and his first appearance in the manga.

Kakuzu fills his old partner, Akatsuki gets a mission from the Land of Hot Water to eliminate an immortal, Kakuzu loses a heart against Hidan who gets recruited and then Itachi/Kisame go infiltrate Konoha post-invasion.

So they animated the Book of Wind oneshot chapter then? Nice, that was a good comedy chapter.

AoMythology

Apparently a report-er
One way the anime (or, rather, the OVA) one-upped the manga is that it included the Hidden Waterfall's tree, which produced a substance (Hero Water) every 100 years that increased someone's Chakra's power tenfold at a great cost.

A decade later, the God Tree (Shinju) was revealed to produce a substance (the Chakra Fruit) every 1000 years that increased the power of Kaguya's Chakra by many times, but possibly drove her insane.

Now, I wonder what Kishimoto was inspired by...? :hmm:  ;)

WATCH IT
...It was worth it. I enjoyed all of that.

Though the drunk fighting towards the end was pretty hilarious. And that right hook tho!
