Webcomic Recomendations

Skin Horse, by the author of Narbonic. Featuring a womanizing crossdressing psychologist, a hyperviolent zombie/Frankenstein's Monster/abomination of science, and a talking dog who deal with nonhuman products of mad science. Oh, and their boss is a swarm of intelligent bees. Good stuff.

Couple strips...

...and...

Demonology 101, one of the first webcomics I ever read. If you like Buffy you should like this... then again it's been a while since I took a look at it.

I kinda wish we had a TFF webcomic. With the number of deviant minds, it wouldn't be hard to create a decent number of one shots, and I'm sure there are at least a few artists hiding around here somewhere...

Do you have a premise? Or would it attempt to capture the day-to-day ramblings and perversions of the Hivemind?

Would you be willing to pay commission for it? (I suck at visual art BTW.)

How far would you be willing to go to see that it gets off the ground? Would you keep it running?

<s>Who would the target audience be?</s> (Forget I asked.)

No real premise, mostly just a random collection of the wierdness that happens around here. Maybe set it in Zeni's RPG world.

This was an idle thought, and I'm not willing to invest money into it. Maybe once I get a job, but probably not.

Wouldn't put too much effort into it, sicne it was an idle thought, and I doubt that it would make much money from ads.

Target audience, besides TFF, would probably be other fanfic writers/gamers.

Maybe we would have two 'themes'.

One 'discussion' which is actually, you know, talking. Day to day goings on at the board, LR's latest rant of DOOM ?, arguing about weird concepts, that treatise on DnD allignments from one of Fosfor's fics would probably make a good theme or something. Pretty much just people talking.

Then we have ... the TFF Alliance, set in Zeni's RPG world, as suggested. This would be where the budget is spent. Two guys talking? Cheap. Some of the stuff that comes out Z's RPGs? I've seen hollywood action films with less explosions, bad-assitude, and lasers.

I wonder, should we start a serious thread for this? I mean, short of commision work, I don't think a lot of people would seriously make a comic for us. And I'm not optimistic enough to think some one on the board is going to do this for free. But, you never know. People have made some fan-comics of one of Vathara's fics, so this isn't too unusual.

Don't count out GH and the bird with the banhammer.

It'd be best if we planned out (at least) the first 10 - 20 before making it more widely known within TFF. Starting material > nothing.

If I ever wondered before whether there really is a TFF hivemind, I don't anymore.

I've been thinking about a TFF webcomic for a while now.

The best way to do what you guys seem to want to do is to do two seperate webcomics.

For the one with a plot, I suggest following the evolution of the various TFF RPGs. To avoid the inevitable slide they had from cheerful school randoness (Academy) to interstellar war, start in the future, with someone narrating, and a few snapshots of the end game (TFFer POWs being killed, people dying in various manly and tragic ways etc.) and have the page end with the line "How did it come to this?"

From there, do the TFF Academy story, starting with a normal day in the school (Heh. Normal.) and then zoom out to include more and more of Academy City.

Then do a few arcs about different TFF exploration teams (from the most recent RPG attempt, maybe Nanashi and NGD in the Nagasarete joke world, or Vex on planet *twitch*). And then start the Cerberus-ing, with the Yaoi bombardment on Academy City, and the Assault on Yaoi.

Just my rambling thoughts, but not a bad framework, I think.

I like this idea, but did you have a plan for the second of the two comics?
Slice of life? Go through the archives from PWNage or the TFF relationship guide or the rules guide, and just crack jokes about the randomness of it all. :D

Jokes about AJT's ability to write a crack concept (the origin of said concepts?), or the tendency of jailbait to hit on DesDes, how everyone drops to their knees when Hawk appears, or the Raine vs. everyone flame wars, Luthorne's overwhelming knowledge about teh internets, NGD burning fire, how everything Fosfor turns to gold...

Yeah. Lots of material.

EDIT: Going through the song collection, found The Champs "Tequila".

You know what rukia has on his work desk? 190 proof alcohol. We could do a whole bunch of comics about TFFers getting totally smashed, and write about their stories while listening to the song.

Ah, damn it. I never have a link to "The Typo That Snowballed" when I need it.
(I'm sure someone does.)

Also, you gotta include Zenithos' Family Tree.

Hey, up there, Zero and Shaderic, you have any ideas to throw on the fire?

Typo that Snowballed?

I know that Zeni's Faily tree is the "relationship guide"... but I guess I missed out on the snow party. Unless... wait, is that the topic where Raine pretended to be a girl?

Y'know, I've only been here for a year... and I was pretty shy for about four months after I joined... so how in holy hell am I one of the top fifty posters/one of the better known members? And more importantly, why do people who joined after me have more posts than that?

No, The Typo that Snowballed was something from 2006, I believe. Before I got here, either. If I can't find it before this time tomorrow, I'll ask in General Rants.

The Typo spawned Magical Aunt Keitaro, right?

Anyways, the webcomic...

It should probaby start as mainly comedy, since there won't be much to draw in non-TFFers at the start. This would serve to establish the main characters without too much serious getting in the way. A good way to tart would be with your generic epic!opening, followed by a massive explosion and someone apologizing.

Once the characters and the setting is established, segway into the first Yaoi-ist invasion, as well as start showing off the insane ability to kill.

Some profile pages would be entertaining. Essentially a brief biography of a character, accompanied by a higher quality drawing/sketch.

Beyond that, all I had was some ideas for random filler comics. Not necessarily TFF based, but could easily fit in. I'll try and think up some more TFF relevant ideas.

Maybe just make it a warped version of a high school fic? Sort of like TFFA, but a bit more toned down?

...now I totally have a mental image of some malevolent entity laughing maniacally as hands reach out of the computer screens of TFFers, dragging them screaming with despair back into teenage bodies, back into high school...and all the TFFers swearing to fight a bloody war against everything, with the malevolent godlike entity doing all this to us continuing to fix the school after we blow it up or set it on fire, resurrecting the teachers, and all that sort of thing, possibly with some sort of 'out' offered to us if we can only find it...

...and it's all your fault!

DAMMIT!!! I JUST GOT OUT OF THAT FREAKING HELLHOLE, SO GOING BACK...

:hmm:

Actually might not be too bad, if a ton of TFF buddies were there. I had good friends in high school, but with a single exception, they weren't genre/internet savvy. Well, with one exception, and he's a non-contributing member here.

*glares balefully at image*

I wholeheartedly support your idea Luthorne, but if we go that route we can't do the "Assault on Yaoi."

NEVER! WE SHALL NEVER SURRENDER TO THAT LIVING HELL!

Oh God the nightmares, the stress, AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

ANGRY! RAGE! KILL! BURN! MAIM!

'Cept you'd need someone to draw... And that someone would need to have at least some time to dedicate to it...

It's a bit of a stretch, but you could have it be a text-based webcomic. (As opposed to visual-based. That would fit TFF, wouldn't it?)

Then it would be an online novel, not a comic.

Still, something to think about... it'd certainly be a fun summer project.

Or better yet, NaNoWriMo. ^_^
