I vote for Kenshin as the most mismatched. They are good songs, but not for that anime.

I'm waiting on em to make the Recap for the fillers and move on myself.

I actually like most of the openings, they're rather different than what you normally see in an OP. (Especially the first one)

I don't know. I have heard a number of the Bleach openings, and, they are not that bad. Even the first one didn't seem to be 'mismatched' given the type of series it is.

As opposed to Rurouni Kenshin with that happy go lucky song. Granted, there are 'happy funny' moments in the series. Still, considering what the series is about... <_<

 I'm watching DearS.... well... I did need to fill my "pretty girls, harem.... slave!!!" apetite.... but so far, the best thing I ever watched was Bleach and xxxHoLiC.

FLCL is still there.... I have to get my gear together to watch it... *sigh*. Watch anime, write fanfic, the cycle never ends.

<_< I'll have to start watching some H-Anime sooner or later. I'm getting stale... and I'm supposed to write a damn lemon.

..... damnit, I'm ranting. :headbanger:

I'm gonna get Kanon 2006. I need to get my "omg.... I'm gonna cry" apetite filled too. XD

I've been watching UFO Ultramaiden Valkyrie (or Warukyure), which has been amusing due to be a reverse magical girl and parodies a fair bit of typical magical girl plots, just not as well as Puni Poemi does.

I also started RahXephon, unsure if I'd like it. I enjoy their treatment of sound, however. Its an important part of the show, and the plot. I also like that our first introduction to the hero is via a painting he's done. That was a nice touch, establishing him that way.

The mecha combat reminds me of Evangelion, but most of the characters are a lot less broken, a lot more human. I'm sure some of the folks here hate the ADV voice acting but I'm fond of the crew that did Full Metal Panic. It could be better directed, but its still decent. I really liked the first ep of the show, with the war directly reminding me of Saikano, and of the shock that war brings. Most of us live in countries which haven't seen real war, at home, in two generations. I think finding enemy planes overhead and buildings crashing down and screams and death right next to you would be really traumatizing. Way more than I could possibly describe.

RahXephon is pretty, odd, and naming the enemy the Mu has been a nice bit of nostalgia. As always, when the japanese describe aliens, they're talking about the US occupation of Japan. (just like Hiroshima, they never let that go).

Few people are dedicated historians, but my wife is one and we've talked about the Romantic period following the Victorian period, where the British empire started some oddly persistent ideas like the Agrarian movement (house in the country = peace) which had little or no basis in fact. It's odd that these magical kingdoms and such stick around in popular culture, but there's so many stories in our fairy tales and much more ancient myths that they're bound to resonate, particularly since they're often taught us when we're small children. Stories then become a big part of our lives.

I've also been watching Kanon 2006, Soukou no Strain, and Code Geass.

Anime I am currently watching...

Negima?! The artwork and the way they re-did the anime is much more pleasing for me.

Elfen Lied: Naked women, graphic violence, the works! I love this anime with a passion.

Fate/Stay Night: Loved the artwork.

Disgaea: The game rocks, the anime drops the ball a bit. I love the series too much to abandon it, although I only have seen the first episode.

Ranma 1/2: Nuff said.

Fullmetal Panic: Awesome anime, decent manga.

Thats about it at the moment. Every thing else I just read the manga, or saw it a while ago.

It's only going to get worse from there.

The Disgaea anime sucked. There were a few points I thought it could redeem itself (like episode three, in which a body-swap occurs, and episode five, where they re-used one of the one-shot characters from the game), but those fell flat. I hated it so much I couldn't even bare to waste the space on one of my storage DVDs, let alone have any plans of buying it once it got released on an R1 DVD. <<

Grr...

It was that bad? Yikes...Now I can never finish it. So much Laharl to miss out on.../sob.

Well, it sounds like you saved me, anyways. I loved the game, but I never did beat Baal. Only got to level 2000 (after like 30 reincarnations) Disgaea 2 I'm only at 600. Life is hard.

Haha. Bit off-topic there. Any recommendations, Fatuous One?

Meh. Since I haven't played the game, guess I never really gotten into that series. :unsure!:

Anyways, I've gone further into Full Metal Panic and Noir. Both a pretty good series for different reasons. FMP being a 'not' so typical mecha show, while Noir, while admittedly quite slow, has an interesting enough story and a 'good' enough style to hold my interest.

Though I'm not sure about this whole Black Technology and Lambda Drive stuff in FMP. I'll watch more before I pass judgment but, sounds like a basis to have super 'physics breaking' powerup. And yeah I know, I should think about the catgirls... -_-

Noir, I forgot about that one. Although I must admit, I just liked the creative ways they killed people. I only watched eight episodes, then I just started fast-forwarding to the kill scenes. The music was catchy, too.

As for the Lambda driver thing, it IS an uber-powerup, but most major enemies have it anyways, so it's okay. >.>

Hmmm...

I just finished watching Shuffle Memories episode 1. This episode at least is more of a rehash of characters than anything else. I'll have to see what future episodes yield to determine whether to continue or not.

I am almost finished downloading Ep6 of 'History's Strongest Disiple Kenichi'. This is by a different group than the first 5, so uncertain on translation quality.

I noticed I cannot get 4 or 5 of it to appear from my normal source any more, had to go to an alternate site instead. As far as I know, it is still unlicensed in either manga or anime form.

Yeah, although only my opinion, I'd almost go as far as to say it's the worst anime of the year. <_< Granted, I've avoid some of the stuff I've heard bad things about, but... gragh...

Although, I know what you mean about Disgaea 2, I still haven't gotten around to almost any of the extra stuff in that game. :/

As for recommendations... well, dunno what you've seen, or what your tastes go for, but there's plenty of good stuff this year.

Black Lagoon (and it's second season), Kanon, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, Haruhi no Yuutsu, Zero no Tsukaima, Utawarerumono, Ouran High School Host Club, and Higurashi no Naku Koro ni were good. (although, Higurashi isn't quite as good as the others. :/ I wish that it had been a better adaptation.)

And off the top of my head (random picks), Honey and Clover, Mushishi, Genshiken, Scrapped Princess, Last Exile, Starship Operators and School Rumble were all excellent.

I just finished watching Shuffle Memories episode 1. This episode at least is more of a rehash of characters than anything else. I'll have to see what future episodes yield to determine whether to continue or not.
*Blink* That's out already? Dang, I completely missed it, need to go grab it. Sort of reminds me of the Genshiken OVA. It completely passed me by until I randomly saw it on one of the torrents lists. :/

Officially though, F1, it's just a guide episode.

You're not missing much. There isn't even a preview for the next episode, which will probably be the real episode one.

Also, I second all of F1's recommendations. Most could have been better, but all did a reasonably good job. Code Geass, in particular, has captured my attention more than anything else right now....but I'm a mecha fan, so that's to be expected.

Death Note: I hate Kira, but I love the mind games.

Salary Man Kintaro: I might never finish it.... its.... well, not that warmed up to me yet.

Fate/Stay Night: I may wanna watch it again.

Welcome to the NHK: XD lol... comedy, touching.... finished this one.

Negima!?: I find it weird. In a good way.

Irresponsible Captain Tylor: havent started yet..... XD

XXXHoLiC: lol... I like it. for some reason.

Bleach: Can't wait for the start of the next arc.

FLCL: Havent started yet.... :p

Well.... other than those whole buttlists of anime to watch..... nothing else.

Ah, s-CRY-ed. Not the best of anime, but I still enjoyed it for some reason, in much the same way as I enjoyed many "fighting action" anime back in the day.

Just think of it as a Japanese take on X-Men.

I just watched Shuffle Memories 2.

What a disappointment, it seems likely that all the memories episodes are going to be rehashes of the mainline TV series.

Oh well, there is always more looking forward to more 'History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi'. I've watched up through 7.

Just got a bunch of Naruto eps from a pal. Watching those as I find time, and trying to finish Shuffle and Desert Punk.

...but I haven't watched an anime episode in over 4 days. I feel like I'm going into withdrawl.

Stupid school....-_-

Desert Punk. Good stuff. ^_^

I'm currently waiting for Anime Network's OnDemand service to release the second episode of Utawarerumono.

I'm pleasantly surprised at the quality of the translation, and the dub VAs are doing a good job thus far.

Hmm. Just watched a bunch of anime... on Cartoon Network. :p

Naruto. The episodes during the Sound/Sand attack. Not bad. Of course, we all know that these episodes represent what happens... before Naruto took a turn for the worse (and before the filler madness). Still, at least at that point in time, good watching at least.

Prince of Tennis... have to say, while I'm not exactly the biggest 'sports' fan, pretty enjoyable at the very least. A little silly at times, but given the theme, it isn't bad or stupid either.

MAR (Marchens Awakens Romance), another 'not bad' anime. True, it had that feel of Yu-Gi-Oh, Rave Master, Duel Master... those kinds of anime (meant for people just a bit younger than me), but even then, the episode I watched wasn't that bad. Certainly not as corny as stupid as the other series I just mentioned. Also doesn't seem to have some silly card game associated to it Making it... more like Rave Master, without 'excessive' the cheese. It still exist, like the story the main character relates to the village being destroyed. <_< Not to mention the talking mace with extremely cartoonish mustache? But not in heavy doses like the previous shows either.

Trinity Blood. I'm reminded why I like this series. It's just too bad that I don't normally watch it unless I 'bother' my sisters a bit (since they have cable). And it isn't like I could watch it on YouTube either (I could 'buy it', but of course, that cost money. Better reserved for... series that are done. :unsure!: ).

Bleach. Same goodness, only animated. :p Of course, the reason I haven't seen a lot of it, same with the rest. No cable for me. Sister has cable... but I don't.

Eureka 7. Have to say, while I have been jumping 'in and out' of the series due to again, how inconvenient it is to watch it on a weekly basis, still a great series despite that.

Oh, and more Noir. Very interesting and fascinating series.

Finnished Renkin Sankyuu Magical Pokaan a while ago. That's some whacked shit. Everyone should watch some episodes from that if they get a chance. Laughed my ass off I did.

I watched Tenchi Muyo OAV 3 recently. It's not as bad as they say it is, I don't get what people are complaining about. The animation-style has changed slightly, and some of the voice-actors are new, but otherwise it's the same old Tenchi. Damn, now I want to watch it again. Where did I put that DVD?

Oh, and I saw Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2 a couple of months ago. It was a mindfuck and a half, but not as bad as the first SAC, not to speak of the movies. Reminded me a little of the manga on the surface of it, but the plott was all different. I don't know if that's good or bad. On one hand it's 'Z0mg original content!', on the other it's 'that's not how it goes'. But, you know, it's Shirow. You can't help but love Shirow. /rant
