What manhwa are you reading?

Sunglasses doesn't care if one or two of his zones are cancelled out because he knows it doesn't matter in the long run. He has no reason to kill the MC unless MC starts something by deliberately disrupting his plan. Plus, since he is teacher he can check MCs condition in classes. It isn't like he isn't going to see the guy 6 days a week for school.

So! and this may be the wrong place to ask but! Is Rebirth fully translated anywhere? I read most of it in book stores years ago, and I saw this thread today and thought to ask. I liked it because of large amounts of supernatural action and throught he veil of years what seemed like a somewhat enjoyable Vampire protagonist who largely predated the Vampire fad.

Double Kubera

Oh snap, Kubera's putting on her rage face.

And Gandharva looks like he's gone full circle back to where he started. <_<

The opposite. Sunglasses dude allowed that if MC went into his zones and killed his summons he would be okay with it.

It's kind of weird how conciliatory someone who has been set up as the bad guy is.
Because even if he can't see levels he knows he's outmatched?
Sunglasses is level 40 something and oldmaster is ?? witch is probably twice as much or something.
What I mean is that he's the one who showed up there. To inform them of exactly what he's doing and see if they're okay with it (which they totally were), followed by saying the MC can interfere with his plan as long as it doesn't wreck the whole thing.

Given that everything we've seen of him before that is him acting as the straight up bad guy (one act of which was beating the shit out of the heir of the very school he then went to and asked permission of) it's weird. I'm not saying it's stupid. But from a story perspective it's weird. Everyone's just suddenly completely blase about stuff everyone super cared about and were fighting about only a few chapters ago. Why did the heir attack him if it's actually not that big a deal? Why did Sunglasses not even remotely try to avoid a fight with him if he planned to talk to the head of school who is way stronger than him after?

This could easily be down to the MC being too uninvolved to see a lot of events, or the standard "Murim view things differently" trope, but it still seem odd to me, at least with what we've been given so far.

It might be a case of 'Is what I'm doing really THAT bad? Bad enough to warrant the trouble it would take to stop me? If not, then let's just leave each other alone.'

My interpretation was that the clan was cautiously observing him because he was on their land doing something possibly shady. Then, the heir guy found out that his best friend was stumbling into barriers and getting into danger because of it. So he geared up for an ass-kicking, which he received gallantly. At which point the elders got involved, because the clan heir getting wounded by some shady guy wasn't something they could let slide. Cue sunglasses guy seeking audience to explain why he's not shady.

As to why he stayed and fought instead of running away; remember when he fought the redhead? He talked about how he wanted to see her (clan's?) signature move. Maybe it's more of the same in this case.

More Gamer. He's power levelling pretty quick, and he's still playing it smart by not immediately dumping his stats in to random stuff without thinking it all through.

He reminds of one of the guys I used to play D&D with. He had just about every book and had even down up all the calculations in spreadsheets for min/max-ing his character. Irritated the hell out of the rest of us when we'd roll up characters because he inevitably picked a caster of some sort.

...oh dear. Now there's a scary(amusing) thought. The Gamer spamming Fireballs and Magic Missiles. Hmm...

I was really hoping he would do a double take and quickly lose interest in her after that little speech (y'know, since he's actually lived first hand what it's like to be born unlucky while she says that from the perspective of someone who was handed everything), but given both his reaction to it and how it's gone since then it seems like she was an author mouthpiece and they're just as terrible a person as their character. Haven't even bothered reading the most recent chapters. Might have dropped it entirely, haven't decided yet.
I'm only up to chapter 21, but so far as I've seen what she described isn't divine right. She's saying that she'd live her life with the cards she's dealt and go from there without needing to get any magic bullshit, you're right that she's an author mouthpiece in a certain sense and it's a bit of shoddy writing to just give the right answer outright, but she's still not a bad person for having a fucking opinion. What it looks like to me is you guys Identifying too much with the relatively blank slated character that's there for immersion for the reader.....so a case of excessive and negative immersion combined with an overdose of main character privilige. Not every manga/manwha is going to have the most pimp of characters objectifying and gathering a hundred thousand women to pine for him. Also the mouthpiece bit is obvious considering the fact that the sudden dice craze is getting people raped/killed/injured/etc.

That's not to say you should read the webcomic, if you don't like it then don't read it, but well....I just figured I'd point out this rather obvious misinterpretation of what she was saying, and not even getting into the fact that she's somehow superficial because she's not dating the MC, the fact that she knows the guy talks to him before his change and the ONLY things stopping him from actually carrying out any form of conversation is himself should be more than enough to tell you that.

Pretty much agree with this. Reread the conversation and the chapter before, and while she thought about things she herself would like to change when she was younger, Eunju came to the conclusion that she should be happy with the person she was born as, and work hard striving towards being the best kind of person she can be. I find it weird that Amodelsino would consider her "shallow."

Anyway, Chapter 29 is up and to quote Nes on page 3: "Is anyone else thinking Bowl-Hair's kinda pathetic~? I mean he gets his ass whooped once and he thinks he deserves flashback scenes~"

I dropped it way early during the introductory arc. I never even got to the conversation stuff that you guys are talking about. I am still agreeing with Amo because the MC is a dumbass. As for the girl, she IS superficial just because of her character archetype and medium in which this is written for.

I don't identify with the main character at all because, and I have said it before when people were hyped over the manga OreGairu and again when the anime came out, I had a fun school life that was more like Amagami than anything else so I don't identify with characters like those. Additionally, I don't self insert with main character of any series ever and so I don't have any affinity with the main character at all (which incidentally was the same reason that I don't really like Accel World). I could care less that he gets his feelings shat on. Your entire theory of identifying with the guy couldn't be further than the truth in my case and is a huge leap in logic on yours.

My real gripe is that I just hate the setting that the author decided to go with. I liked the initial chapter 0 but it was all downhill from there. I hate it when something interesting gets bogged down with stupid romance bullshit unless the entire point of a work is romance drama to begin with. It isn't so I judge it accordingly with a different metric.

Edit: As a side note, I absolutely ABHOR any harem shit in any medium (unless I am watching it for lulz and it is excellent with humor). So your inflammatory accusation of enjoying that shit really pisses me off and is completely off. I'll even read more of Dice just to see if I didn't jump the gun. I'll capitulate if I'm off-base about my initial impression but I doubt I will.

Edit2: Okay, read up from chapter 7 where I stopped to 29. I still have the same opinion. Girl is still as superficial as a real high school girl as well as the designated damsel(which locks her development into one of two differing role that depends on were the author goes with it). When you take into account what she says after the first fight on the roof top and what she says later when they were walking home after visiting dead kid's mom. You could argue that she believes in divine right due to her views about living one's lot in life and her statements excusing whathisface (the one that become her boyfriend) actions. It isn't too much of a stretch to think this.

Honestly though, I read it more as a brush off maneuver of a pretty girl. She was pretty much shooting MC down in a nice way.

Oh and I was completely right to trust my instincts dropping it right when the quest thing was introduced. I knew it would be used in a dumbass way like this. Re-dropped.

I actually laughed at the attempt to explain away "People should live as they were born to" as anything but a disgusting viewpoint. That's the kind of shit you see incredibly one dimensional villains say, but apparently here it's okay because the author agrees.

Also apparently I'm just self inserting into the main character and that's why I don't like it or her. Right, that main character I totally wasn't calling pathetic in that very post. I didn't have a problem with her being someone else's girlfriend you idiot. I had a problem with the main character crushing after someone else's girlfriend who also happened to be a terrible person who thinks he should live a shitty life because people don't have the right to become better than they were meant to in her world (a world in which she was born with everything, so no bias effecting that outlook right).

No, I'm afraid I don't like your precious series because it's badly written and all the characters are terrible unlikeable shitheads.

I'm not saying you should keep reading it or that it's a great series. But you're still misinterpreting it, taking it personally atop of that and not putting the words said into the very specific context of the situation presented. In other words you're loosing your shit because you have an opinion. And editing my post as an attempt at an insult doesn't really help your point either.

I'm just waiting for him to try and access a pause button or the source code.

Under heavy attack don't know what to do? Hit pause. Look at the situation, prep healing, and attacks unpause and start owning.

The Korean version of Captain N the Game Master...

I~ like it!

EDIT: Also, Girls of the Wild's 118

I knew it! The moment Ho-Pae said he couldn't find the third tormentor, I just knew the missing link was working in some shady crime circle.

I forget, did he ever mention if saving is allowed?

And is it a roguelike game? Is permadeath enabled or does he just respawn at his house or something?

Oh look. It's a boss battle. Called it. Also, he has specced his INT right? Because I didn't notice any major difference yet in behavior or thought patterns, though I suppose that might take a chapter or two to become fully evident.

And yes, definitely one of the greatest powers to have.
