Continue to crush after a shallow girl who is both someone else's girlfriend and believes in divine right apparently.
I was really hoping he would do a double take and quickly lose interest in her after that little speech (y'know, since he's actually lived first hand what it's like to be born unlucky while she says that from the perspective of someone who was handed everything), but given both his reaction to it and how it's gone since then it seems like she was an author mouthpiece and they're just as terrible a person as their character. Haven't even bothered reading the most recent chapters. Might have dropped it entirely, haven't decided yet.
I'm only up to chapter 21, but so far as I've seen what she described isn't divine right. She's saying that she'd live her life with the cards she's dealt and go from there without needing to get any magic bullshit, you're right that she's an author mouthpiece in a certain sense and it's a bit of shoddy writing to just give the right answer outright, but she's still not a bad person for having a fucking opinion. What it looks like to me is you guys Identifying too much with the relatively blank slated character that's there for immersion for the reader.....so a case of excessive and negative immersion combined with an overdose of main character privilige. Not every manga/manwha is going to have the most pimp of characters objectifying and gathering a hundred thousand women to pine for him. Also the mouthpiece bit is obvious considering the fact that the sudden dice craze is getting people raped/killed/injured/etc.
That's not to say you should read the webcomic, if you don't like it then don't read it, but well....I just figured I'd point out this rather obvious misinterpretation of what she was saying, and not even getting into the fact that she's somehow superficial because she's not dating the MC, the fact that she knows the guy talks to him before his change and the ONLY things stopping him from actually carrying out any form of conversation is himself should be more than enough to tell you that.
I dropped it way early during the introductory arc. I never even got to the conversation stuff that you guys are talking about. I am still agreeing with Amo because the MC is a dumbass. As for the girl, she IS superficial just because of her character archetype and medium in which this is written for.
I don't identify with the main character at all because, and I have said it before when people were hyped over the manga OreGairu and again when the anime came out, I had a fun school life that was more like Amagami than anything else so I don't identify with characters like those. Additionally, I don't self insert with main character of any series
ever and so I don't have any affinity with the main character at all (which incidentally was the same reason that I don't really like Accel World). I could care less that he gets his feelings shat on. Your entire theory of identifying with the guy couldn't be further than the truth in my case and is a huge leap in logic on yours.
My real gripe is that I just hate the setting that the author decided to go with. I liked the initial chapter 0 but it was all downhill from there. I hate it when something interesting gets bogged down with stupid romance bullshit unless the entire point of a work is romance drama to begin with. It isn't so I judge it accordingly with a different metric.
Edit: As a side note, I absolutely ABHOR any harem shit in any medium (unless I am watching it for lulz and it is excellent with humor). So your inflammatory accusation of enjoying that shit really pisses me off and is completely off. I'll even read more of Dice just to see if I didn't jump the gun. I'll capitulate if I'm off-base about my initial impression but I doubt I will.
Edit2: Okay, read up from chapter 7 where I stopped to 29. I still have the same opinion. Girl is still as superficial as a real high school girl as well as the designated damsel(which locks her development into one of two differing role that depends on were the author goes with it). When you take into account what she says after the first fight on the roof top and what she says later when they were walking home after visiting dead kid's mom. You could argue that she believes in divine right due to her views about living one's lot in life and her statements excusing whathisface (the one that become her boyfriend) actions. It isn't too much of a stretch to think this.
Honestly though, I read it more as a brush off maneuver of a pretty girl. She was pretty much shooting MC down in a nice way.
Oh and I was completely right to trust my instincts dropping it right when the quest thing was introduced. I knew it would be used in a dumbass way like this. Re-dropped.
