Ishida's whereabouts are unknown. It is possible that he will make a dramatic entrance, save Ichigo life, and run away with Ichigo over his shoulder.
Possibly, but I think his priorities would be elsewhere right now.

1. Inoue, or..

2. Rukia, who he can also likely sense is practically dead.

I was thinking he might head to help up Rukia, but I was also thinking about the possibility of Urahara and Yoruichi coming in once Urahara realizes "O SHI- Sending them into Hueco Mundo was a fucking bad idea..."

We'll just have to wait and see, I guess.

Ishaida has a sense of style. If he was in the area he would attempt a sashing rescue. Even if the person he rescued was male, and even if he had to run.

:eek:t: I was wondering if it was ever stated directly in the Manga if Isshen was a captain or just at the captain level?

He just mentions that "captain-class" Shinigami can shrink their swords, or else they'd all be hauling around skyscraper-sized zanpakutos like Fisher. Then he carved him up proper. So he doesn't actually say he's a captain.

On the other hand, the way he interacts with Urahara suggests they're "equals"...

He wears a sash around his waist that seems to be a captains uniform.

nah because I was reading up on Wki and it said that he was a former captain. I just wanted to get a second or third opinion about it. Thanks :)

Just saw the Raw of the latest chapter.

Spoilers:

Ichigo is pretty much out, his bankai shorting out shows that he's close to death. However it does seem like someone showed up behind him. From what I saw, it may have been Zangetsu. I hope, we haven't seen the old man sword in quite a while.

The other important event shows that Renji might be saved. That fight just had someone new show up. Of all the people he could have gone to save, Ishida is bailing Renji out. He looks pretty beaten up though.

You forgot to mention Grimmjow showing up looking rather pissed when he found those two Arrancar beating up on Inoue. Not sure what's going on there, but oh well.

Still have to see what happened to Chad and Rukia.

Somehow, I get the feeling that Ichigo's mom will show up... Anyone killed by a hollow becomes a hollow, so it's possible.

Definitely be an interesting plot twist... especially if she was arrancar/espada...

Manga thoughts

I stopped waiting on Viz last night and read from the end of Volume 18 to just after that little girl member of the Vizard has been introduced. In the next couple days I'm going to get current.

Is there anyone else who thinks Unohana Retsu (4th division captain) sort of resembles Tendou Kasumi; just older and a bit less oblivious? I couldn't help but think Kubo Tite might have used Kasumi as the model for Retsu. I know that probably has no basis in fact but it's a feeling I still can't shake.

Here's just another of my observations, but Kurosaki Isshin's strength seems kind of retconnish. I seem to remember at the beginning of the series, Isshin was harping on Ichigo about taking his ability to see spirits seriously because Isshin himself couldn't. Perhaps I'm misremembering or suffering from a Viz Effect but it still seems...retconnish, as I said.

Another observation: Aizen's statement that there is an absolute peak to all four shinigami disciplines (sword, hand-to-hand, footwork, kidou) seems rather dumb. If he's right it strikes me as a rather annoying plot device. And if he's wrong, it seems to render many if not all his actions rather meaningless.

An impression: villainous action or not, the way Aizen used Hinamori was awe-inspiring.

Anyhoo...I must continue reading.

Isshin has always gave the impression that he cannot see spirits. That is not to say that he was telling the truth. I have repeatedly heard that he lost his power, and that Ichigo's presence was slowly returning it. Either way, just beacuse he said he couldn't see spirits doesn't mean he was telling the truth.

Manga thoughts

What reason would he have to lie? Admitting he can see spirits is not the same as admitting he was once a shinigami on Captain level.

I think he was trying to give the impression that he was as normal as possible. He had to have known that sooner or later Ichigo would come into his own power. If Ichigo suspected he might voice his suspicions. If a shinigami suspected that Ichigo wasn't the only Kurosaki with signifigant power, well, Mayuri has demonstrated he can use anyone for his experiments as long as they are dead. If he had to arrange a random Kurosaki's death he would. The big theme is that Isshin doesn't want anyone to suspect.

Manga thoughts

Okay, I guess I can understand it from that point of view, considering Kurotsuchi's experiments on the Quincy; as well as whatever horrors created Nemu.

I still don't agree at all with Aizen's theory that all four shinigami disciplines have absolute caps; I don't see how *any* of them have absolute caps. Aizen has even *admitted* there is a plausible existing deficiency in his kidou, for example; and I refuse to believe that sword skill and hand-to-hand combat use have absolute limits. As for footwork, if that means shunpo, individual steps should always be able to be lengthened, and the amount of effort lessened. And both Yoruichi and Soi Fong intimated there are ways to combine kidou and hand-to-hand. Did Aizen even think of that?

Maybe Aizen himself was at a cap, or at least had deluded himself into thinking he could progress no further without hollow powers, or whatever he's after.

I think he was talking about the amount of power that could be obtained or at least the amount of power that could be put into an attack. Basically when a shinigami reaches bankai that is their cap for zanpukuto, they get slightly more powerful, but that is the last major power jump.

Correct. Sort of like reaching the limit a body can do. After all, there is a point in any training where you will see zero-gain from it. It is only to keep it a zero-loss as well. The deficiency you mentioned was a standard problem: spells lose their power without the incantation. Since Aizen didn't use it to summon that spell, it lost a lot of power.

Ok now I'm not sure if this is real or just my imagination.

But in one the SS Arc openers they have Chad Throwing a piece of stone with his LEFT arm and not his armored right. Is this just my imagination or is this another foreshadowing of future events that Kubo-sensei ikes to give?

No, Chad has always been pretty strong. Remember, he took a steel girder to save the ensouled bird.

Yo.

I stopped following the Bleach manga (out of time constraints and general lack of interest in manga of any kind) right about when Isshin trampled the Great Fisher.

So, since I'm bored right now and have to take my mind off the upcoming troubles in real life, I ask of you: Where can I lay my hands on the Bleach scanlations from (insert chapter # of Isshin trampling the nasty Hollow) up to the latest one?

Hmmm. Stoptazmo.com has them, but I can't get the site to come up at the moment. http://www.bleach7.com/ should have the chapters you're looking for, though you do have to register.
