A fantastic crossover between NGE and Macross that has Shinji piloting Veritechs and kicking alien ass from one end of the galaxy to the other.

I, personally, believe this is one of the best NGE crossovers I have read because it inserts Shinji into this new setting without making him into a hot-shot flyboy/ladies man/supremely confident person. He's still the same emo Shinji we know and tolerate but his interactions with the characters from Macross are well thought out and well written.

Just to show that I can be impartial I have a few problems with this story, the first one being that it follows the Macross timeline, for the most part. That means that they float along in space for some period of time fighting the same battles that you see in the TV series. Not necessarily a bad thing, as it allows critical character development, but at the same time it leaves you wanting more from each chapter.

Either way, give it a read because, let's face it, the archives over at FF.net are hurting for good fiction right now.

I've been enjoying this due to the fact very few stories seem to focus on Ritsuko, less on those that occur post 3rd impact. Add the odd backdrop, and the mysteries... I am very interested to see where the author takes this.

However, it loses points for taking a not-actually-that-subtle dig at Shinji & WH40K.

A) Is some kind of self-insert Mary Sue raised on board games or by a temporally-dislocated Obi-Wan Kenobi or Insert You Power Fantasy Here and uses the power of his own awesomeness to kick Sachiel's keester. In other words, "Shinji Ikari" is really DJ Croft with the accent filed off.

Shrugs... I consider myself fairly widely read, at least in the fandoms I like and track, but despite what some may or may not think, I have not read everything for them, even if I started reading in 1999.

I can say I have read and liked other lovecraft inspired stories involving NGE, and at least a couple for Ranma.

For this one... Actually... I read the first chapter quite some time back...

While well written, I did not care for it, so never continued. No clue on how the rest of it goes.

Sadly there are a handful of NGE stories like that, ones I've been told are great by a good number of people, started to read to various degrees, could find *nothing* I could point to stating it is bad in any way, but at the same time, could not keep my interest. This was one of them. Some other great ones that are like this for me include:

- 'Chosen' by Rakna (I think I gave up around chapter 4)
- 'Shinji and Warhammer40K' by Charles Bhepin, partially due to me not knowing of the W40K universe, and partiallly due to my dislike of the end of the 'Thousand Shinji' W40K crossover which I did in fact read to the last chapter (though not its sequel).
- 'I Do' by Innortal, despite my love of his other big NGE story called 'True Angel', and a couple dozen of his Ranma stories, I could not keep interest, I think I stopped around chapter 5.

A story does not have to be bad to either be turned off to or not care for it. In every story I listed above as started and stopped early on, they had good spelling and grammer, good sentance structure, interesting starts, but if the content can't keep a readers interest (or keep them awake), then there is nothing to be done.

I will never be heard putting down such stories, just that I do not have or track them. If you look at my master links list, I do not have them, I don't recommend them, or anything. If I happen to know something does come from them someone is searching for, I'll mention it, but that is about it.

Similar situation with me for some epic and long heralded Ranma stories... such as 'Relentless' by Grayson Towler, or both 'Gaijun' and 'Insertion' by Carrotglace (despite liking a lot of other stories by him). Heck, 'Relentless' I must have started to read some 4 or 5 times over the years, never made it past chapter 3 (sadly, my last attempt at that one had me falling asleep at start of chapter 4, at that, I gave up).

Weird i had never even heard of H.P.Lovecraft when a read CoaEG i new little to nothing about the old ones infact all i new was from an almost non existent amount of looking up Cthulhu from a fic i read on Mediaminer.org that had him in it and all i learned was his name and what he looked like and a few tidbits from the fic and i enjoyed it just fine

same for S&WH40K with Warhammer all i knew about it was... nothing actually the only contact i'd had with it before that was a friend of mine from elementary school who liked them and had a bunch of them Jeffrey Potter if i remember right i never cared about it so never really asked him about them, i was more interested in his pet snake.

Personally... I've found body merger stories for NGE stories are overall more entertaining to me than body swap stories.

This is not bad... I guess, as I have been following it... But, it loses a lot of points with me due to the level of subtle agreed acceptance of the whole thing and lack of ojection or resistance shown. Asuka, shinji, and heck, most of the cast, is just plain too accepting. Like how fast they went back to school, and what occured when they did.

There are a couple that are not true body mergers, but mental mergers. Most I've seen are Shinji/Asuka, a couple Shinji/angel ones.
