HD Shantae game kickstarter.

Way Forward why are you so awesome?

I am really looking forward to this one
I love how they have responded to fans so far in that one. After complaints that Shantae was too pale, they did several adjustments to all the art till it more or less matched previous games and the fans impressions of the character.

Meh. I played a couple of the others a while back. My sister had a couple of the Gameboy titles when she was younger and I spent a couple of days playing through them when I exhausted my own games. They were okay platformers with cute character designs. Lots of crappy Deviant Art internet porn due to the cute and colorful female cast.

This could be kind of cool, but it's hard to get terribly excited for it. I doubt I'll play it myself and I won't be contributing. Outside my tastes and aimed a bit too much towards young girl gamers for my taste.

The previous games I played were so-so platformers, nothing wrong with them, but not particularly outstanding either. Cute humor, not as obnoxious as a Barbie or Bratz title, but entertaining enough.

I do like Way Forward, but they've also made some crap. I don't expect this to be crap if it gets funded, but I also don't expect it to be anything great either. Just more of the previous titles decent platforming gameplay with prettier graphics and a cute cartoonish plot.

Meh. Has it's place, but holds no interest for me personally.

Everyone: FUND THIS LIKE THE FIST OF AN ANGRY GOD!
Good news, everyone! You are hearing this in Professor Farnsworth's voice.

But really good news! Mighty No. 9 just hit 2.2 million, it's coming to the PS3, the 360 and the Wii U.

Well, that is good news. I don't care that it's coming to PS3, 360, or WiiU personally. I do like that it is meeting it's stretch goals, but that's pretty much one of the two marks I don't care about. The other being PS4 and Xbox 1 releases.

I am hopeful that it will continue and reach some of the other content in the stretch goals though. So it is good news even though I don't care about that particular goal.

Welp, finally caught the kickstarting bug. Took me a while but up to this point nothing really caught my interest enough to make me want to spend money. Finally something has, an entirely new IP called Hyper Light Drifter:

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1661802484/hyper-light-drifter

Don't know if it's the freaking Attack on Titans meets Shadow of the Colossus while going cyborg vibe it has in that video, or the fact that it's got some horizontal platforming with a warp step, or maybe it's the lightsaber/blaster (Not likely given I've never been much of a fan for star wars), but really it's likely the interesting vibe in that video that promises a very interesting world the likes of which we've rarely seen before. Whatever this is, somehow this game catches my fancy.

And it also caught the fancy of quite a few considering it's at almost a quarter of a million with 22 days to go and has long since met all the stretch goals I'd give a shit about, bar physical copy and maybe an additional dev to bolster production (Neither a necessity to say the least). Doesn't really need your support so much as you need to get in on this shit now before you miss out.

Double Posting for great justice and since I'm actually getting into the spirit of things after browsing around a bit.

Hyper Light Drifter from my last post has added a few new must have stretch goals by my book. It's likely to hit them with a little less than 20 days left unless it loses an absurd amount of momentum, but seriously, get in on this guys, looks freaking amazing.

Found two other interesting ones that are in need of more backup by comparison however. First up is Shantae: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1236620800/shantae-half-genie-hero?ref=category

Didn't catch my interest at first despite a female lead, but then I noticed it was by the guys who did Duck Tales Remastered, the Adventure Time games, and a bunch of other stuff you should at least be tangentially familiar with. This is a sequel to a series I haven't personally played but looks quite fun in it's own right and these guys have the pedigree to back it up. Looks like it's easily going to make its goal and maybe two of the stretch goals if it keeps up it's current momentum, but probably a good idea to spread this around as much as possible to make sure things don't go south for this one.

More critically however is this game, Hot Tin Roof: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/meganfox/hot-tin-roof-the-cat-that-wore-a-fedora

Has about a week left to go and it's just shy of it's 20,000 goal. A game whose platforming and grappling mechanics happen to be right up my alley with a weird art style and a cat wearing a Fedora. Looks quite amusing and would be a damn shame if it missed the mark when it's this close. Spread it around as much as possible if you can guys, stretch goals are probably out of the question at this point (So wanted that fireworks ammo but sadly not possible with things as they are) but really every little bit could help in this case considering how much smaller by comparison this title is.

Another Kickstarter Update:

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1206086702/cornerstone-the-song-of-tyrim/?ref=kicktraq

Cornerstone: The Song of Tyrim. Physics based platformer combat game with cell shaded graphics and is largely modeled much like windwaker. Lots of alternate routes and all kinds of other possibilities involved as well as a crafting system and the apparent potential for rogue like gameplay if you're into that sort of thing. At an alpha stage already and looking pretty solid (albeit in dire need of polish as to be expected) and is probably something you should keep on your radar.

Plus Sailing's involved, which is right up my alley. Only asking for 30,000 with 29 days to go, but doesn't seem to be getting much attention. Spread this around if it catches your fancy like it did me. :p

KS round up time. Been a while since I took a look at the site so I'm going to miss stuff. I won't comment on anything that's already gotten coverage though.

River City Ransom: Underground is a sequel to the original River City Ransom. It's sprite based and headed by some of the original team.

Neverending Nightmares is a monochromatic+red horror game based on mental illness and delusion, and plenty of gore.

Citizens of Earth looks to be an Earthbound inspired Western JRPG. Dunno that I have time for it, but perhaps relevant to some interests.

Anyone remember Mutant Football League? Because there's a new one being Kickstarted.

I've missed a few larger ones in the past two months; sorry for that.

Well, only 4 hours left and every platform is green lit for development now. PC, linux, mac, PS3, 360, Wii U, PS4, X-1, PS Vita and 3DS.

In other news, Shantae and Hyper Light Drifter have brokered a little deal and both games are having a Kickstarter Exclusive crossover miniquest added. Quite amusing given the drastically different art styles in fact.

Out of curiosity, how much would one have to pledge for Torment now, in order to get a copy of the game?
I"m entirely new to actually working with kickstarter (recently acquired a disposable source of income!), and am curious about dumping about 20 bucks into it over 2 months.

Well, Kickstarter is very much a time-dependent crowd-funding site. If you don't get your pledge in during the 30 day window of funding, then it is up to the company receiving the funds whether they continue to accept funding after the Kickstarter drive is over.

So check with inXile and see if they have some kind of late backer bundle in their store.

*Sad*

The project was canceled, however, the creator left a video behind indicating that they plan on coming back and doing this again.

Here's the concept art he was talking about at the end.

Mighty No. 9

â—¾WORLD

In the year 20XX ---- In a world where robotic engineering has greatly advanced.

World panic caused the collapse of capitalism and brought about a new socialism, under which the government had manual labor mechanized and food, clothing and shelter was thoroughly managed. The principle of competition was lost and warring ended, bringing about what seemed to be an everlasting peace.

Although robotic advancements helped to maintain public order and development, people began to feel suppression and social stress due to these peace keeping measurements. As an outlet, a government sponsored public robot battle competition known as the “Battle Colosseum” was created. Little did they know, a new threat to mankind was afoot.

â—¾STORY

Dr. White created 9 robot siblings known as the “Mighty Numbers”, who were the most popular and powerful team of robots in the Battle Colosseum and always in the top ranks. But, during one competition there was a sudden act of cyber terror, infecting them with a computer virus causing them to become crazed and rampant.

The crazed siblings took control of various key facilities and utilities. The virus continued to spread to all the robots of the world. It is now up to the lone Mighty No.9 “Beck”, who remains unaffected by the virus. Beck, who had always been the weakest link on the team, was now entrusted with the future of all humanity!

Holy shit! Adhere to the Maxims of Xag once again and fund this! >_< It doesn't need your money anymore, but it deserves it anyway. I've got my copy and anyone with a gaming rig should get on board with this immediately if they haven't already. Especially those with epic level PC hardware.

https://robertsspaceindustries.com/about-the-game

Fuck Yeah Chris Roberts! I've been playing Chris Roberts games since 1990. If he says this is in game footage you can bet the game will look like this when you play it. The man knows what he's doing and doesn't exaggerate like Peter Molyneux.

He shoots straight, has years of experience with this kind of game, and he's developing it for PC with no chance of a console release. He has already stated that he refuses to dumb down the game for a console release and it's being tailor made to take advantage of epic rigs. You can bet that it will be as awesome as he claims it will be and have a better chance of winning than losing that bet.
