Bumping the thread~ At least it's only a few days old...
Police Warfare Kickstarter has been canceled. Oh well. But I felt it was bound to fail. Penny Arcade article mentioned how the people behind it were all production people and not business people. Even if it somehow succeeded, they might have issues with budget. I mean $325,000 (and that's before Kickstarter/Amazon take their share. As well as expenses for rewards and stuff) isn't much to make a new game.
That and, the pitch makes it sound like generic FPS with instead of soldiers, cops and criminals. Really? That's your pitch? Might as well mod Call of Duty then.
I like Kickstarter because I get to support, mainly games since that's what got me into Kickstarter, for genres that the big money people said was dead. Supporting something that Activision or EA already or have no problem approving? Nope.
Oh, and the thing I forgot to mention in my previous post. Well, more like I danced around it but didn't specifically mention it. Backers expectations. They expect, at minimum, the game to be made. In the case of LSL which I mentioned before, a new game. If that doesn't happen, well, that person might feel burned and would be reluctant to support another noble project. It happens. And will happen. That's the risk of Kickstarter. And why we have to be careful on who to support.
