Naruto Stories you wish you can destroy

I don't read much, but I do know some of the biggest pitfalls of writing Naruto stories. Here's a short list that you may want to consider a rewrite if your work is plagued by such things:
Is Naruto much smarter/competent than his canon counterpart?
Does he dress differently? Is the color orange in his wardrobe perceived as a kill-me color and thus something to avoid at all costs?
Is Naruto a card-carrying certified "badass"? Does he have any of the following in his attire: fingerless gloves; trenchcoat; cool mask; steel-toed boots; compression shirt; firearms; katanas; ANBU uniform; ANBU mask?
Does he have a hidden bloodline/kekkei genkai? Doujutsu like Sharingan?
Could you CTRL+H every instance of Naruto's name with Sasuke and readers wouldn't be able to tell the difference based on behavior?
Are the rest of the cast idiots? Is there an evil council hellbent on exiling/convict/execute Naruto? Is it in any regard related to Sasuke and VOTE?
Is the shipping a hard NaruHina, despite how utterly different Naruto was raised/did not live in the village? Is Naruto mooning over Sakura (same situation)?
Is there bashing? Are certain characters dumbed down/disrespected in order to elevate Naruto?

Well... Only because of his different training for the Neji fight, focusing more on skills and planning than overpowering, and seems more because he is the only ninja in PJ. I thought being without Kurama's chakra would be an effective counter... I have been thinking I overdid it sometimes though.
He sometimes wears MH armors, but rarely. Usual clothes are his basic clothing though. The only mention of colors was by non-ninjas.
He got a Palico summon that can take him to fight giant monsters for fun and profit (literaly). Since it is a PJ cross he will eventually use some more powers, but that is going to be after Pein's attack so I doubt that counts.
Not that I can notice.
The ninjas I hope they do not seem so, the PJ ones are more untrained but they will slowly get a clue, in MH he is a rising hookie but still a hookie (since he is currently following the 4 Ultimate's low rank story). No. Not really, the change starts at the month before the chunin exams despite the actual story being during the training trip, but I have been told my reimagination of the VotE made a reader hate my version of Sasuke more than canon one.
I'd actually like it not to be a NaruHina, but I'll just try develop chemistry with my favorite females and see what feels better in the end. But the change is during the chunin exam, so not that much of a difference. He would still say he is interested in Sakura if asked because he would at this point in canon, but I have no plans for it to stay for long after the training trip ends, as pointed by the fact he is barely thinking of her if at all until now.
I try my best to keep everyone in-character before the changes the story differences make, but Artemis could be considered nicer than canon. Annabeth could be considered to have acted a bit stupid and was chewed on by him in the beginning (she didn't trust him and knew the part of the prophecy about a traitor, so believed he would be one and convinced the others to leave him behind. Plus her canon actions during the first capture-the-flag and the arch), but everyone who reviewed seemed to agree this would be in-character for her at that point in the story since her hubris is a canon flaw for her (as in, it was actually shown in canon as her biggest flaw).

A clear sign you need to scale back, then.
It was late, and I really needed to sleep at the time, so I should clarify this point more: does Naruto dress dramatically different just because? Has his wardrobe been thrown out wholecloth and replaced with things you're more likely to find in Hot Topic?
As for the rest of it, I haven't read the Percy Jackson series beyond a random page flip, so I can't comment on the validity. Long as it seems kosher with others, though you should take that with a grain of salt as well; oftentimes, fanon can override actual canon events or behaviors, as well as flanderizations subverting actual character growth and development.

Yeah... I've drawn myself in a corner though, since I kind of began in media res for him. I was thinking of telling the changes before the start and his slow start through flashbacks, but people seem to think they are taking screentime from story advancement... Now I think I need to either dumb him down (something I wouldn't do because I hate when I see it in other stories, fanfiction or not) or start a side-story of him until the start of this one...
I have been sugested a rewrite, but that would mean the reader would start away from the main crossover from the start of the story while training with Jiraiya until after VotE...
The only actual change of clothes besides the armors - and he is either pre-warned or needs to buy some time to wear them - is the chunin vest under the jacket, not revealed for a while.

Ormaybe it is the idea of corruption. He is presented as a prankster and an annoying brat, but his personality is still deeply rooted in goodness. Turning it into something evil might give them a thrill.
I myself have an evil Naruto in my head, but he is obviously a parody (even if he and everyone takes him seriously) and someone I like to put against the many different evolutions of actual Naruto to see if the evil one could survive them.
He evolved into a master of retreating while making glorious remarks about when he returns. Wish I could put him into a story just for the comedy of having the "badass dark Naruto" be reduced to a head thanks to teleporting in the nick of time and saying he will be back stronger than ever without it being stupid.

People took that realization that Naruto could've been just like Sasuke and fucking ran with it. So while it doesn't surprise me when I see villain Naruto, I do have a distaste for them in general.
Also, it's not all that hard to see Naruto as a Yandere, actually. Hell, just take his determination to bring Sasuke back and amplify it to see where it could make some sense.
But that summary is absolutely dumb. And I'm pretty certain there was some kind of flanderization involved to make Mavis do anything like betraying someone who loved her.

But the name is about the whole personality, past and everything possible but head appearance and the name being turned into an OC, most of the time more like a version of Sasuke than Naruto (despite the author more than likely saying they hate Sasuke) and more than likely actually a Self Insert in disguise.
And I agree. Just like Harry Potter, where people either cross with everything to distance from the original or go for fanon repeated everywhere, people seem afraid to innovate. Say they think the original authors lack imagination or talent but just spew pre-made ideas (although some are able to shine a bit even through that). And those that do, don't seem to have an end goal but to top what they did before.
The point you made about pairings is a good example. NaruHina was already overused, it being the official pairing turned it up to eleven. I want more focus on the minor pairings! My favorite pairings for Naruto, since this is his section, are, in this order, Kaguya (depite the few we saw of her before this filler), Ayame and Ino. Kaguya is taken more as a joke pairing, Ino is more common but definitely not used much anymore... and I never see Ayame outside harem stories.

Is "Of The Lesser Son" really the only half way decent RWBY crossover? Because this is yet another "Naruto replaces Jaune" fic, where he miraculously knows all the members of team RWBY before hand. Naruto has way to much raw power and combat experience to be relegated back to Combat School.

I feel like it's mostly new writers contributing to that problem. They spend so much time delving into Fanon to prepare for threir own fics that they take it as Canon. The most agregious ones you usually see are the 'Sasuke is a whiny, spoiled brat' cliche (you all know what I mean. Where Naruto has some form of powerful ability and Sasuke demands to be given the ability or trained in the art simply due to his status) and the 'Angry Mob beatings' cliche. In the case of the banishment fics, the cliche is 'The council is full of pricks who hate Naruto's guts and will do anything just to spite him.'
They don't feel they need to be original, because they take fanon at face value and assume that these fandumb cliches are recognized as practically canon and thus are just a given.

In another post, I address the phenomena of reading fanfics as though they're canon. As a result, there are a good number of folks that have never read or watched the series while they type up hundreds of pages of Naruto fanfiction. Hell, one particular Naruto fanfic writer told me that she was quite that she had never read one page of the source material. Somehow, getting the gist of the story and reading all these "classic" works like "Team 8," "Chunin Exam Day," or "Mizukage" instead of the original makes them equally adept as those that read Masashi Kishimoto's actual work and somehow more than qualified to write fanfiction.

However, the real problem is that these types of writers aren't ever likely to change even if they had the material read to them by the creators themselves because this is just a lazy shortcut. Rather than read the book and write the book report, they'll take the cliff notes and run with that, nevermind those cliff notes were written by some shady dude whose literary grasp is tenuous at best. Whatever saves them time and effort.
