Uzumaki Clan (Official Version)

The Uzumaki Clan are descendants of the Sage of Six Paths through his younger son and distant relatives of the Senju Clan.

As Otsutsuki Ashura was their ancestor, they inherited the “body” of the Sage which granted them a powerful life force beyond most human beings which allows their bodies to quickly heal from most injuries, their stamina recovers at an accelerated rate, and they live far beyond an ordinary life span.

They made their home in the Land of Whirlpools, a small island nation off the eastern coast of the mainland with whirlpools scattered around its shores. Their missions typically involved traveling with sailors and merchants overseas to provide protection during the voyage, or guarding coastal towns against bandits and ninja. And they were frequently hired to hunt down pirates causing trouble for the local authorities as well.

At the end of the Warring States Era, they founded the Village Hidden in the Eddies by inviting several minor clans from bordering countries as well as wandering ninja to join their settlement. The Uzumaki ruled the village as its most elite shinobi and their skill and reputation meant that they were practically considered nobility by their fellow villagers and countermen. The majority of Uzumaki were born with red hair which, combined with their headband, made them easily recognizable and only added to their reputation.

Due to the protection granted by living in a hidden village, the standard age of death for a shinobi rose and the older ninja were able to at least semi-retire. This meant that the Uzumaki had more elders living longer and their unusually long lifespans became more apparent. People of the Land of Whirlpools started to called Uzushio “The Village of Longevity” which soon spread to other countries as well.

Unlike their sister clan who had no specialized fighting style, the Uzumaki excelled in fuuinjutsu. Ninja who focused on that art were a rare breed which made this clan particularly distinctive for making it their signature jutsu style. In battle, they could arm themselves with scrolls that fired weaponry and block enemy jutsu as well as talismans that could explode, paralyse or worse. With the entire clan working on sealing formula and techniques for generations, they advanced the jutsu style beyond what anyone else had ever accomplished.

The oldest among them possessed more sealing knowledge than anyone and were respectfully called Sealing Masters. Rather than wasting that knowledge by throwing them into battle, they often remained in the hidden village to work as its defenders while training upcoming shinobi in the art.

These Sealing Masters were responsible for creating unorthodox weapons by sealing unique and powerful jutsu inside a set of masks. Those masks would automatically activate the sealed jutsu when worn to allow the wearer to use them without needing to learn the jutsu themselves, especially ones that are hazardous or impossible to train. For example, one mask was possessed the Dead Demon Consuming Seal which summons an entity of chakra that they called the Death God for it devoured the souls of both caster and victim.

Their specialization in fuuinjutsu served the clan well in other skills too. Juinjutsu, which uses sealing formula to control living beings, were rarely used but highly effective in dominating their enemies. Barrier ninjutsu were vital in protecting the hidden village and their clients so using sealing tags allowed them to set up diverse and powerful barriers whenever needed. And medical ninjutsu often using sealing formulas to help monitor and stabilize patients as well as aid in surgical treatment. The fact that the Uzumaki’s greatest skills were primarily suited for support only gained them greater respect given their effectiveness on the battlefield and the sheer survivability of their ninja.

When the First Hokage offered a place to the Uzumaki Clan in Konoha, they declined in favour of remaining in the homeland. However Konoha and Uzushio nevertheless held a strong alliance as they bound themselves together through a marriage between Senju Hashirama and Uzumaki Mito. Uzushio shared their knowledge of fuuinjutsu which formed of foundation of the style in Konoha that is still used to this day and in return, Konoha shared many of the ninjutsu they collected and developed. Each village even bore the symbol of their sister clan on their uniforms as a sign of respect and goodwill.

In war they were an invaluable help to one another with Konoha protecting Uzushio from enemies in the west and Uzushio protecting Konoha from enemies in the east.

Unfortunately, Uzushio was destroyed at the end of the Second Shinobi World War.

The Village Hidden in the Mist used an unprecedented strategy to overcome the village’s many defences by sealing the Six-Tailed Slug inside an unsuspecting native of the Land of Whirlpools. Once they neared the walls of Uzushio, the seal unravelled and the Tailed Beast was released to go on a rampage. With its toxic fluids, rotting gas and immense chakra it broke through the walls and tore through its defenders.

However the Uzumaki Clan were practically the antithesis of the Tailed Beasts and their sealing mastery allowed them to restrain and seal the Six-Tails away. This alone wouldn’t have been enough to destroy the village but this was merely the opening move. On the heels of this rampage, the Third Mizukage and Seven Ninja Swordsmen led the main force in an attack that was so sudden and devastating that it brought Uzushio to its knees.

Before reinforcements from Konoha could arrive, the hidden village was razed to ground and the island nation itself was practically destroyed by the intense fighting throughout its territory. This tragic event became as the "Drowning of Whirlpool" due to the great loss of life.

Very few of its inhabitants were able to escape from the destruction and those who attempted to flee towards Konoha were captured. The only ones to actually reach Konoha after the disaster were either fakes attempting to infiltrate the village or brainwashed spies who were discovered and eliminated. Instead most of the survivors ended up scattered across the continent and in their desperation were forced to go into hiding to stay alive, abandoning their name and their heritage.

Most of Uzushio’s valuable jutsu and wealth were either destroyed in the fighting - either by accident or in defiance of their killers - or stolen by Kiri before the reinforcements could arrive. Almost everything else that was salvageable was retrieved by Konoha though there were undoubtedly still records and scrolls still left in the ruins that had been missed or forgotten. Among the things that Konoha retrieved from the wreckage were the sealing masks, overlooked by their enemies who hadn’t known their function especially when many of the masks didn’t even have jutsu sealed inside them.

In honor of their fallen allies, Konoha erected a temple outside of their bodies and decorated it with those masks as a tribute. Only Uzumaki Mito knew the purpose of the masks and shared that knowledge solely with the Third Hokage and her protege, Uzumaki Kushina. The villagers were forbidden from removing the masks from the template and Mito Mito kept them safe within barrier ninjutsu and fuuinjutsu as protection, a duty that Kushina continued after her death.

Unfortunately, the temple was forgotten entirely after the Nine-Tails Disaster with more vital concerns taking precedence and the last of the Uzumaki who remembered their history dying. Its barriers eventually collapsed, the building fell into disrepair and the masks were simply left to gather dust.

And then only Uzumaki Naruto was left to carry on their name.

Signature Jutsu

Adamantine Sealing Chains - This is the oldest and most prized fuuinjutsu of the Uzumaki Clan which forges their chakra into incredibly durable physical chains. It’s said that they are derived from a sealing jutsu first created by the Sage of Six Paths himself.

These chains are able physically bind a target by wrapping around their form to restrict all movement or they can tear right through the target with the destructive force of their extension. They are released from the wielder's body and their exact size, shape and length of those are chains are flexible, making them adaptable enough to suit their needs in any given situation. The end of the chain can be tipped with a spear-like blade to pierce through an obstacle, or a hammer-like club to strike with blunt force or a claw-like head to grab onto a target.

Being made from chakra, the chains move according to the wielder's will rather than any physical movements like a regular chain would be. So they can extend over great lengths and change directions at sharp angles to better entrap the target within their clutches. It's possible for the chains to be used in other ways such as directly binding the target through physical touch and they can act as a perimeter to create an impermeable barrier to keep enemies inside or out. Even with a fragment of the jutsu’s true strength, it is a truly powerful ability.

Mind’s Eye of the Kagura - Among the Uzumaki, only a few of them possessed chakra sensitivity but those that did were among the best in the world. Their ability to sense chakra was at such a level that was official identified as its own ninjutsu rather than a standard skill. Without even needing to mould chakra, they could sense distinctively chakra signatures over significant distances with no conscious effort.

By opening their ‘inner eye’, their superior perception is able to sense any and all chakra within many kilometers as well as discern how many signatures there are, what type of being it belongs to and whether a specific individual is present. They can judge the quality and quantity of a person's chakra as well as discern some understanding of their nature through the feel of their chakra. Even the fluctuations caused by a person's dishonesty are detectable to her. In combat, they could track the movements of their enemy and predict their jutsu through the presence and changes in their chakra.

It was named for the ceremonial dances performed by shrine maidens for divinations and those that possessed were given a diamond-shaped tattoo on their forehead to symbolize the mind’s eye.

Known Uzumaki

Uzumaki Mito - The daughter of Uzumaki Asahina who lead the Uzumaki Clan at the end of the Warring States Era and founded the Hidden Eddies. She was considered the ideal Uzumaki who mastered all of the skills that her clan specialized in, which is why she was considered a suitable match for the First Hokage.

Afterwards, she chose to become the first jinchuuriki since the Sage of Six Paths by sealing the Nine-Tailed Fox inside herself to protect the world from its incredible power and hatred. Already possessing the Mind’s Eye of the Kagura, her sensory skills were bolstered by the Tailed Beast’s presence inside her so that she was even capable of sensing the negative emotions of those around her. Mito long outlived her husband, remaining in Konoha as their secret jinchuuriki until even she neared the end of her life and her successor was decided.

Uzumaki Kushina - Sometime before the destruction of Uzushio, Kushina was sent to Konoha become the next Nine-Tailed Jinchuuriki. Even as a child she possessed incredibly powerful chakra and an instinctual talent for the Adamantine Sealing Jutsu which made capable of suppressing even the strongest Tailed Beast.

As much as being a foreigner in Konoha pained her, a pain that grew worse when she learned of her country’s destruction, the decision to send her away saved her life. She gained a great deal of knowledge and jutsu from Mito prior to her passing and even though she never learned to wield the Nine-Tails' chakra, serving solely as its container rather than a weapon, she became a formidable shinobi on par with Konoha's most elite shinobi.

Nagato - He was a refugee that fled with his parents from Uzushio to the Land of Storms where the threat of Hanzo the Salamander was enough to ward off enemy invasion after the Second Shinobi World War that cemented his reputation. It was a popular destination among all refugees and so they fitted in with the rest and managed to build a home there.

He was gifted with immense and powerful chakra from birth as he inherited the full strength of his bloodline, drawing the attention of Uchiha Madara as he saw the ideal vessel for his Rinnegan. It was thanks to that heritage, despite how little his parents had told him before their deaths, that he became a vital component in the world’ future.

Karin - Her mother was a refugee and her flight from Uzushio's destruction took her all the way to the Land of Woods where she found a life for herself in one of their villages and raised a daughter. When Karin revealed that she possessed the Mind’s Eye of the Kagura, her mother taught her how to use chakra and even tried to teach her the Adamantine Sealing Chains though it wasn't an ability she ever used successfully until much later in life. Her chakra sensing saved her life when she escaped a raiding party that destroyed her village and brought her to the attention of Orochimaru of the Sannin.

First she became one of his many child spies and had her infiltrate her the Village Hidden in the Grass as genin, taking advantage of her nativity. When she returned to him years later, Orochimaru wanted to take advantage of her powerful life and conducted experiments on her which turned her body into a tool for healing. An individual is able to heal themselves by biting her flesh hard enough to break skin, opening a connection between their chakra systems, and sucking her chakra into their body. That chakra significantly boosts the body's healing ability by orders of magnitude so that it can heal severe injuries within seconds. The artificial nature of the ability is clear in that Karin doesn't have that level of regeneration herself. She, too, needs to bite herself to heal her injuries as it is only when her chakra leaves her body in that fashion that it possesses those healing qualities.

These experiments killed any loyalty she held towards the man and she remained in the Hidden Sound only because she had nowhere else to go and her infatuation with his future vessel, Uchiha Sasuke.

Out of curiousity, why did you choose to have Uzushio be destroyed solely by Kiri? Most fanfics I've seen that mentioned the event had it be an alliance of multiple villages, which I think better explains the rapidity of the destruction (and therefore no time for reinforcements) and why the victor apparently wasn't able to take prisoners and/or steal any artifacts or jutsu (they starting fighting over the spoils, leading to their destruction.)

I just find it harder to believe one village could have destroyed Uzushio before reinforcements could arrive. Being fuinjutsu specialists, they presumably would have had some badass walls and barrier jutsu protecting their village. And Kiri is the second weakest village according to the databooks, while every Uzumaki we've seen is significantly more powerful than the average shinobi. Maybe Kumo or Iwa could have pulled it off, but I dunno about Kiri.

Also, you'd think Kiri would have looted some badass fuinjutsu and maybe some of the Uzumaki's genetic abilities if they'd so completely dominated the village and it's inhabitants. Possibly even have taken some of those awesome masks.

Because I'm contrary like that.

Nah, I just felt that Uzushio being destroyed by a full-scale assault from Kiri was a realistic enough scenario. Respectful of Uzushio's threat that it requires a Great Hidden Village to take them down hard without being excessive in needing several villages to gang up on them like how it's usually described.

Kiri was only the second weakest at the time of the Kage Summit but this attack took places 2-3 decades ago. There's no way of knowing exactly what state the village was in at the time but it was still before Yagura's nightmare reign, before the Seven Ninja Swordsmen fell apart and before they lost both of their Tailed Beasts. That sounds like it would put them in a much better standing than they were in Part 2.

And we do have the Mizukage and the Seven Ninja Swordsmen all participating in the attack which makes at least S-rank shinobi, seven elite jounin on top of the rest of their forces. Even individual shinobi can do remarkable amounts of damage to a ninja village depending on what kind of abilities they possess, so having Kiri's best spearhead the assault seemed a credible way expressing how they did so much damage in one fell swoop.

And Kiri felt the most appropriate since I imagine that Uzushio threatened their control of the seas and would act as a buffer between them and Konoha which interferes with them during wartime. If I was going to propose that there was an alliance involve then it'd probably be more like another hidden village forcing Konoha to divert their resources in another direction to cripple their ability to respond. Though I was kind of thinking that's more or less what happened anyway even without an alliance i.e. Konoha was focused on other regions, Kiri blitzes Uzushio who send word to Konoha but by the time they've got it, scrounged up the reinforcements and ran there, the damage is done.

I just didn't want to go into too much detail because we know literally nothing in canon except that Uzushio was destroyed and its people were destroyed. I figure that whoever really attacked in canon did take what jutsu, money and artifacts they could - albeit with a good chunk being taken by the escapees, accidently or intentionally destroyed in the fighting or just buried and lost - but nothing ever comes up because it has no bearing on the story. I expect there's more Uzumaki than Karin and Nagato around the world but they too just weren't important. And the masks I excused in the mask temple entry as being overlooked because many of them really were just masks and the attackers, in their ignorance, saw far more valuable prizes to take.

Fair enough, your reasoning is sound. I will argue no more!

...Actually, I just had a thought. What if Rin wasn't the first time that Kiri used one of their bijuu to weaponize a prisoner of war? That could certainly explain how Kiri managed to wipe out Uzushio so quickly if they'd managed to slip an unknowing jinchuuriki timebomb past their walls which blew apart all their defenses from within, and then marched in to mop up the weakened and unfortified survivors as soon as the Sanbi was killed or sealed away. Konoha wouldn't even have to be kept occupied by other villages in this scenario; Kiri could probably finish Uzushio off and withdraw from the mainland before Konoha even got word of the attack, let alone before they sent reinforcements.

RE: The Naruversity

Forgot all about that. Ironically, the Uzumaki would literally be the worst people to use that tactic against since they're basically armed with the anti-TB jutsu style in fuuinjutsu. Doesn't mean it wouldn't work though since it really just needs to be released in the village and have a few minutes to wreak havoc. Maybe that's even a part of the strategy since the Tailed Beast getting sealed just means that it can't hurt their own forces when they sweep in for the kill.

And it helps justify trying to pull off that tactic later with Rin against Konoha if it was a success in the past, especially if no-one else actually figured out how they pulled it off in the first place. Though I'd pick Saiken in this case for some variety and because it seems to cause more harm just by existing with its chemical body and gases.

RE: The Naruversity

Exactly. All the bijuu has to do is knock down their walls and barrier jutsu before it's sealed away with chakra chains and/or a death god summoning. Kiri can then send their troops directly into the village during the chaos and engage the defenders in close combat - an elite swordsmen blitz is obviously going to have a huge advantage over the suddenly unorganized, defense and support oriented sealing experts.

Mito had the Mind's Eye, and the mark on her forehead was a symbol of the ability? I like that idea.

Do you think the Strength of a Hundred seal had any relation to Mito's mark? Did Mito teach Tsunade fuuinjutsu perhaps, or did Tsunade simply like the look of it and modelled her own seal's appearance after it?

You've changed your story regarding Karin's origin again. I remember you writing before that she was a loyal genin of Hidden Grass, and that Orochimaru recruited her after the hidden village was destroyed by Sasori. What made you change your mind?

Yeah, I was inspired by some trivia on the wiki about 'byakugo' refering to 'the third eye which allows one to see past the mundane world and into the divine world'.

I suppose Mito probably did teach her some things but yeah, I was going with the idea that Tsunade just modelled her seal's appearance after it. I was considering Mito having the original version of the Strength of a Hundred Seal which was just about storing chakra for later use (no healing) but Hashirama already stole enough of her thunder when he got regeneration powers. Perhaps I should include a little tidbit about Tsunade since she's of Uzumaki descent even if she doesn't identify herself as one.

In hindsight, it felt too complicated. I prefer to keep things straightforward and I think that theory had too much in the pot, sprinkled with some loose interpretations of canon. Would have been cool if Kishimoto had actually gone that route but as it is it felt like I was trying a bit too hard to bring random events together.

So I went back to the basics.  :sisi:

RE: The Naruversity

I dunno man, is it really more complicated than Orochimaru sending her off to be a spy in Hidden Grass for no real reason, apparently just to justify her being in Konoha during the Chuunin Exam so Sasuke could randomly save her from a bear?

I also find it really weird that that whole "Karin was a grass-nin genin" thing was never mentioned in any of her databook entries. If Hidden Grass was the destroyed village that the second databook does actually mention, then that's one less loose end in her backstory.

For what it's worth, there's an anime filler arc that explores Karin's past, and it has her being a legitimate genin of Kusagakure, because the village gave her and her mother refuge in exchange for healing their wounded (and her healing bite is something she inherited from her mother and not from Orochimaru's experiments). I suppose that means that Hidden Grass was destroyed in anime-canon.

Oh, another thing. I'm pretty sure Karin was still loyal to Orochimaru even after he experimented on her, despite what the databook says. She originally wanted to keep running his prison even after she learned that he'd been killed and Sasuke had to convince her to leave. And she did go back to working for him after the original manga ended. Why would she do those things if she had no loyalty to Orochimaru? She easily could have gone to live in Konoha in the epilogue if she'd really wanted to get away from him.

RE: The Naruversity

Karin would have been just one of Orochimaru's numerous spies that he has throughout various hidden villages which seems like something he'd likely to do. He had at least three in Konoha, two of which appeared of the more standard variety unlike Kabuto. A war orphan who got picked up and turned into a tool is more of the same.

I hadn't noticed it before but Sasori actually tells Sakura to go to the Tenchi Bridge in the Hidden Grass Village and the databook shows it on the map with Kusagakure and the village symbol, so there is some mention of it post-timeskip. Weird phrasing - I suppose not to confuse readers by randomly name dropping the country - but it's there.

Karin was just putting on a show for Suigetsu and revealed her true intentions to Sasuke as soon as he was outside of earshot. Orochimaru's death wasn't even a confirmed fact until Sasuke showed up with Suigetsu, just a rumor, so leaving wouldn't have been prudent. Though she doesn't necessarily need to have personal loyalty to Orochimaru to remain a part of the organisation. After the war, the rest of Sasuke's team had even less reason than Karin to go back with Orochimaru yet still did so it was just par the course at that point. She's a really blatant example of where Kishimoto just makes things up as he went along.

After all...

This is not a woman that's meant to be make sense.

Yin Healing Wound Destruction

This is a unique type of medical ninjutsu created by Yakushi Kabuto during his many years as a spy in foreign nations. Unlike any other medical ninjutsu, it uses yin chakra to heal instead of yang chakra. Kabuto anticipates the incoming attack and focuses his spiritual chakra to the area where the damage will be inflicted to preemptively start healing himself. By using spiritual chakra, he can trick the body into believing it has already been injured which causes it respond by dividing its cells, just as it would to heal a real wound, only accelerated with the application of chakra. So the body is already healing itself when the enemy attacks lands, reducing the damage and allowing Kabuto to recover far faster than could be expected.

Kabuto typically uses this on himself as it can save him from fatal injuries and allows him to deceive his enemies into thinking that they have landed a worse blow than it really is, possibly even believing that they had killed him. But he can also use it on other people as well such as the test subjects for Orochimaru’s experiments to make them to live far longer than usual despite the damage they suffer.

RE: The Naruversity

I don't know, the Yang chakra's main point is the physical aspect of the healing. If he tricks his body into healing beforehand AND improves the healing I think it is more of a Yin-Yang instead of pure Yin.

On the other hand, nothing stops him from forcing the body to pre-heal with just Yang.

RE: The Naruversity

If the cells start dividing before the wound is received, wouldn't that just cause the affected area to swell up? All those new cells have to go somewhere.

I think it would make more sense if it was almost like Kabuto cast a genjutsu on himself. Like, he predicts exactly what kind of injury he is about to receive (so only super smart medics can pull this off), uses yin chakra to create an illusion of having received that wound, uses normal medical chakra to "heal" that illusionary wound, and then holds the illusion + healing jutsu in his chakra coils. When the injury is actually received, the illusionary wound is superimposed over the real one and if it's accurate to the real wound then the "stored" healing jutsu is released and takes effect instantly.

But it's a dangerous jutsu, because if the illusion isn't accurate to the real wound then the wound may not be fully healed or it may even be worsened.

RE: The Naruversity

Could be pre-healing with yang chakra does nothing or maybe that's where it starts dividing cells prematurely and negatively impacts the body in those areas. So the trick behind using yin chakra is that it gets the body in a state where target area is ready to start its cell division but doesn't actually do it until the damage hits. By preparing it beforehand and focusing a lot of chakra in a single place, the healing process goes into overdrive and starts going to work even as the damage is being inflicted at a similar rate to standard healing.

RE: The Naruversity

That could work.

Maybe Yin Healing Wound Destruction isn't actually a Yin Release jutsu, but is named that because it uses way more yin chakra than most other medical jutsu do.

In other words... Yang chakra is required to stimulate cellular division. Yin chakra can't do that at all. So most healing jutsu are almost entirely comprised of yang chakra.

Yin Healing Wound Destruction is actually a mix of yin and yang chakra though, like a normal jutsu. So it's less effective at healing than other medical jutsu, because it has less yang chakra. But it makes up for it because the yin chakra allows for the "pre-healing". Yin chakra prepares the body for healing and allows for a lot of chakra to be built up before the injury happens. So while the jutsu requires more total chakra for the same amount of healing than a comparable pure yang release healing jutsu, it can apply that healing instantly to heal an injury the moment it's received. This means no downtime recovering, and the element of surprise when you retaliate against the person who injured you.

RE: The Naruversity

I know I've mentioned it before, but I still feel Yin Chakra could play a role in Medical Ninjutsu even if Yang is the major component. While Yang supercharges the body, Yin chakra could be used to manipulate the broken "form" back into its proper configuration.

I mean, what's more efficient in treating a broken leg, setting the bone by moving the pieces back into place so they can fuse back together (either naturally or with chakra-boosted healing,) or just flooding the limb with healing power?

I could see Yin Release being used to put a broken bone back together like a puzzle, and then precise bursts of Yang Chakra at specific points to ensure that wounds don't heal "wrong." I mean, don't scars form when a different form of collagen (than the type that normally occurs in our skin) is produced, as a form of what's essentially "organic bandages?" A medical ninja could probably prevent that happening by "overriding" the body's natural healing process with pinpoint application of Yang Release?

TL;DR: Med-Nin are Doctors and Trauma Surgeons with access to Ninja Magic, not White Mages.

RE: The Naruversity

I'm very much of the opposite view where medical ninjutsu are just plain Yang Release and that treatment such as what you've described fall under its purview. They just manipulate yang chakra in different ways and with great control to heal those injuries. Kabuto's jutsu would be the exception if only to justify its namesake.

Corporeal Kekkei Genkai (Knyght)

Knyght

The Collector
Felt like I stepped into the realm of fanfiction given how much I've made up here but this is something I've liked to have seen covered in the manga.

Corporeal Kekkei Genkai

Corporeal kekkei genkai are one of the three branches of kekkei genkai alongside the visual and elemental types. Those who awaken it inherit genetic abilities that allow them to manipulate their own physiology in ways that are impossible for ninjutsu alone. They can instinctively control specific body parts, functions and substances to better protect themselves or attack their enemies which physical feats that often seem inhuman to ordinary people. As while there are ninjutsu which can weaponize a person's body, they are limited by how far they can be taken without harming or even killing the person using them. One would physically tear themselves apart by copying the feats that those with a kekkei genkai are capable of as their bodies are naturally adapted to resist or recover from the damage caused by the changes their make.

There are five kinds of corporeal kekkei genkai and each one controls a different part of the body: bones, cells, blood, muscles and nerves. Possessing one of these bloodline limits gives them no direct power over the ability of the others but there is some bleed-over as changing one can’t help but affect other body parts.

Shikotsumyaku (Dead Bone Pulse) - This is the kekkei genkai that manipulates bone. You know how this works.

Shisaiboumyaku (Dead Cell Pulse) - This is the kekkei genkai that manipulates cells. This ability is primarily used to allow one to replicate their own body parts to create additional appendages, particularly their arms and legs which help to aid them in combat or provide more versatility to their movement. And their brains are wired in such a way that controlling these extra limbs is no more dfficulty that moving their permanent ones, the only difficulty is in adapting their way of thinking to best take advantage of them. One can go so far as to grow a copy of their upper torso which can perceive and respond to its surroundings independently, requiring nothing more than the original's chakra to act, or even copy their entire body to have a flesh-and-blood clone to fight alongside.

As well as dividing their cells to create copies, this kekkei genkai can be used to merge cells as well. It is what allows them to remove the appendages they create from their body, reabsorbing them into flesh instead of destroying them or ejecting. And it grants them a type of accelerated healing though this isn't a cost-intensive feat which makes it difficult to use in combat. But it also used to keep their clones hidden inside their bodies for both offensive and defence. After the clone is produced, it stays merged with the original so that they appear no different than anyone else, moving freely within their body. During battle, the clone can then aid the original by making its feet, arms or even face exit the body to confuse the enemy with unpredictable attacks and defences. Their fist can lash out from the original's face or their foot can one kick into a double strike.

This tactic isn't limited to clones either. If multiple people possess this kekkei genkai then they can willingly merge their bodies together to turn two separate ninja into a single, more powerful one as they aid one another in battle. Anyone who decides to fight such an enemy has to be wary that they are facing more than one opponent. However two is the maximum limit of how many people can be merged together with this method as a third person would be rejected. Sakon and Ukon of the Sound Five. took this tactic even further as they have used this ability almost permanently ever since they awoke their kekkei genkai. Ukon, the older brother, spents the majority of his time sleeping within his younger brother Sakon until they enter battle and fight together.

It is possible to forcibly merge with individuals who do not possess this kekkei genkai but it is among their most difficult techniques. The bloodline bearer must break down their own body on a cellular level and enter their enemy's flesh, then they corrode the cells of their host to essentialy consume them from within and recreate their own body. It's a rare skill but one of the most terrifying ones they possess.

Shiketsumyaku (Dead Blood Pulse) - This is the kekkei genkai that manipulates blood. Those who possess this are able to control their blood both inside and outside of their body as a weapon or as protection. Externally, they can forcibly release their blood from their veins and arteries to exist their skin and then manipulate it outside of their body. The blood can shift between a liquid and solid state where it can move like a fluid or harden like iron to attack the enemy or defend its user, its fluidity allowing it to adopt all kinds of shapes depending on their will. Even if the blood isn't still connected to their body, they manipulate it with extra effort which can easily can any opponent by surprise.

Internally, they can increase the rate that their blood flows through the body to increase their strength and speed by boosting the transfer of oxygen and nutrients, much like a rush of adrenline. Otherwise they can make them blood clot instantly after receiving an injury to prevent any blood loss or even do the opposite where a disproportionate volume of blood is released. And their ability to harden their blood can be used even when its still inside them to vastly improve their durability and defend against attacks.

Any blood that they lose is immediately replenished as they produce the substance at an inhumanly fast rate, meaning that they never need to fear blood loss unless they have practically killed themselves from exhaustion anyway.

Shisujimyaku (Dead Muscle Pulse) - This is the kekkei genkai that manipulates muscles. At a fundamental level, it increases the size, strength and density of one's muscles to amplify their physical abilities, making them stronger, faster and tougher than normal. This can be concentrated in specific body parts such as the arms to increase the force of their punches, their legs to increase of their kicks or even their torso to protect their vital organs. But this change can also be made to the entire body and the further they take this enhancement then the more powerful they become as they can change from an average-size human being into a muscle-bound titan.

In addition to simply increasing the size of their muscles, one can also create more muscles and relocate them to different parts of the body. For instance, amassing a large collection of pumped-up muscles into the arm can increase the force of their punch even further, gaining great power in exchange with lowered speed and balance. And having the ability to control their muscles doesn’t restrict them to just making themselves stronger. One can adapt their bodies to have the perfect set of muscles for a runner, specifically modifying themselves into someone capable of the highest levels of speed. Shifting between sets of muscles suited for strength, toughness or speed can make them more adaptable than one would expect.

To prevent their bodies from being torn apart under the weight of their own muscles, the rest of their body strengthens itself in correlation to the increase in muscles as protection although the further this is taken then the greater the strain can become.

Shishinkeimyaku (Dead Nerve Pulse) - This is the kekkei genkai that manipulate nerves. The least common and arguable the least useful of the corporeal types, this is typically used to significantly amplify one's senses. They can increase the number and strength of the nerves related to their senses of touch, taste, smell, hearing or sight to enable to perceive the world in ways that others simply cannot match even with chakra enhancement. If all of these senses are raised beyond human limits then it could be said that it is impossible for anyone to catch them unaware.

However this ability isn't limited merely to their own senses which would strictly make it suitable only for support as they can 'inject' their nervous into another person. By doing so, their nerves can take control of the nervous system of the infected, first to give them just limited control over their movements but eventually evolved until they have total control over their body. Lacking any control over themselves, they become completely dominated by the bloodline bearer who can treat their body as an extension of their own or even as a second body in the most extreme type of human puppetry imaginable.

I like the ideas, but I'm not really a fan of the naming scheme. It works for the original bone bloodline but just feels kind of forced for the other ones.

I think Dead Muscle Pulse is definitely the weakest of the bunch. I feel like Tsunade and Gai have already surpassed the raw strength and speed of that bloodline with pure ninjutsu and taijutsu, and it also is really similar to the Akimichi clan's Partial Multi-Size Techniques.

Dead Nerve Pulse though, that one is interesting. I think you have underestimated the potential of manipulating nerves. In addition to enhanced senses, they would logically be able to increase their reflexes to superhuman levels, have perfect balance, and also be able to turn off their ability to feel pain at will.

And if they can extend their control from nerves to the neurons in the brain, then they'd also likely have photographic memory, enhanced intelligence, perfect chakra control, and the ability to speed up or slow down their perception of time. They'd likely also have amazing natural artistic talent... and probably also plenty of other superhuman mental feats that escape my imagination at this moment.

Furthermore, with perfect memory, increased creativity and enhanced senses, a user of this bloodline could become the ultimate genjutsu master. Their illusions would be utterly flawless and they'd likely be able to see through just about anyone else's genjutsu with ease.

Edit: Waitaminute. Isn't that "controlling other people with your own nerves" thing taken directly from a character from Bleach?

I just happen to stumble on the names and figured that it would make sense for them to have a consistent naming scheme like the "Eye" and "Release" of the other types. Would it work better by swapping out Dead or Pulse with something different for each or just going for something unique each time?

Yeah, Dead Muscle Pulse was a pain as I felt like it means sense for it to exist but there just isn't much going on there. Tried to get creative but it basically amounts to getting tougher, getting bigger and getting stronger which other characters do just in a different way. And Juugo could probably do the exact same thing now that I think about it. Scrap it?

For the Dead Nerve Pulse I just kept it as basic as possible for now because I had no idea how far would be too far and didn't want to get to close to the Lightning Release Chakra Mode's ability. I'll get on with that one.

Yup. Though the way they use that to control people was based ore on Regent from the Worm webnovel. He would normally force his subjects to experience involuntary physical responses like tripping, spasming or vomiting but could push it to completely dominate them and treat them like another body part entirely against their will.

RE: The Naruversity

I'd probably give each of them a different unique name entirely. It makes sense for the "eye" bloodlines to all have a similar naming scheme because they are all based around the same organ, and similarly the "release" bloodlines are all different ninjutsu elements. But the corporeal bloodlines really have very little in common with each other.

You are right that Dead Muscle Pulse feels like something that probably should exist in the Narutoverse, but it really does feel a bit underwhelming and derivative of several other similar abilities that we've already seen.

Although I suppose that someone who had mastered both the Dead Muscle Pulse and the Eight Gates Formation would be pretty terrifying, since they could likely regenerate most of the self-damage to their muscle tissue (although Dead Bone Pulse would probably be equally effective...). Likewise, someone who mastered both that bloodline and Tsunade's Chakra Enhanced Strength would probably be able to give Superman a decent arm-wrestling challenge.

So I'm not sure if I would scrap it. Not just because it's logical, but because what would you replace it with? Dead Fat Pulse? ... Wow, actually I meant that as a joke, but imagine if Dead Fat Pulse did exist and a person with that bloodline was adopted by the Akimichi clan. Holy shit they'd be OP.

I wouldn't worry about Dead Nerve Pulse infringing on Lightning Release Chakra Mode's ability. Superhuman reflexes is one of those basic and obvious jutsu ideas that would probably have been independently invented multiple times by different ninja clans. Sort of like how there's tons of different ninja with varying degrees and types of superhuman strength and superhuman toughness. Both Dead Nerve Pulse and Lightning Release Chakra Mode are different enough in other ways to both still stand out, what with one also granting supersenses and nervous system hijacking and the other granting a powerful protective force field.

...Random idea. Dead Chakra Pulse. A bloodline that grants instinctive superhuman control over one's own chakra circulatory system. I have no idea exactly what kind of abilities that would grant, but probably at least perfect chakra control, innate mastery of every basic element, and voluntary control over the eight gates. And who knows how far you could push that bloodline. Do you think that idea has any promise?

RE: The Naruversity

Dead Chakra Pulse had crossed my mind but it'd definitely be the odd one among them since the chakra inside the pathways is manipulated all the time in all kinds of ways while the other parts just...are. Extreme types of chakra control like Juugo's chakra cannon and jets are what come to mind.

Edit: Actually I might not even have it have anything to do with chakra itself and instead control the chakra pathway system itself which is woven into every cell to manipulate the body without being restricted to specific parts. Extreme but it'd be something like the equivalent of the Rinnegan or Truth-Seeking Balls for corporeal kekkei genkai.

RE: The Naruversity

I imagine that if you could control the pathways themselves, then you could consciously control the flow and direction of chakra throughout your body, to every individual cell and even protein. You could potentially become the ultimate shapeshifter. You could probably even mimic other bloodlines; for example, change the shape of the pathways in your eyeballs to match the Sharingan and you could manifest the sharingan yourself (which I assume is similar to what Obito did to Kakashi when his spirit possessed him.)

The problem would be knowledge. Even if you had the bloodline, you probably don't know how the chakra pathways of the Sharingan are shaped. You'd have to experiment a lot, and probably dissect a few Uchiha. You'd need a great deal of medical knowledge to use the bloodline to it's fullest. A normal person with the bloodline would probably just be stuck to generic shapeshifting like Juugo.

But the potential is crazy if you understood chakra theory and human anatomy enough. You probably wouldn't need handseals, since you could manipulate the shape and nature of your chakra internally by directly changing the chakra pathways the chakra is flowing through. If you mastered Yang Release, you could probably combine that with manipulating your chakra pathways to give yourself a healing factor on par with Hashirama. If you mastered Yin Release, you could probably snare people with genjutsu with just your vocal cords (or even trap people in illusions who are just standing near you!). Master chakra natures, and you could use nintaijutsu with ease.
