I'm trying out League of Legends. I'm already a level 5 summoner and I've done pretty well with Ashe and Sona (yeah, bought her).

I sucked hard when I tried Garren, even though I thought I would be better as a tank. NOPE. Died 14 times as Garren in the trial battles against bots (1 assist and 3 kills), whereas, with Ashe, I only died 2 times, got 10 kills and 0 assists.

When I actually took it the game, I wasn't too bad, though we steamrolled the first opponents, lost against the second (I blame myself for the fact that I was still new, and am still clumsy on item purchase in-match, though the way those guys were using Nunu and Caitlyn were playing perfectly for those characters... makes me think that they weren't exactly newbies. <_< ) and EVENTUALLY won the third match, which I played with Sona and did fairly well.

My record with Sona, which is entirely from a single battle, is 5 kills, 12 deaths and 12 assists, so much better than I did in my test battle with Garren.
Have fun with the Game. I'm only a 22 myself, only having the chance to play on Fridays, but it's really fun.

Try to pick out around 3 people you enjoy, and have fun, switching over to other characters to see how they play. Do you have a favored playtype? I might be able to recommend you an enjoyable character then. Also, don't rely on the Recommended Items too much. Later on, you'll figure out what items are good by yourself. Some characters (like Cho'Gath) are really good tanks, but also do well with AP. It all comes down to playstyle.

My favorites so far are Shen, Kassadin, Xin Zhao, and Dr. Mundo.

Messing around in Recoded. Not fond of how they botched the command system. Ability levels were far more streamlined in BbS, and the cap, based on the fact that I saw one ability get up to 13 in my limited arrangement in the early levels, seems far too high. Once I start getting the good abilities it'll be annoying to try and level them up to the max.

However that they let you have random bonuses upon fusion almost makes up for it. The leveling system also intrigues, working a hell of a lot better than the panels in Days and actually having a damn good story driven reason for it.

Damnit Tremor... why...?

The game's faction rules are a bit... wonky.

Like I'm friendly to Freedom

And I see their guys getting attacked(btw in this case the Freedom guys just kept walking even after getting shot at.) So I shot at the Bandit shooting them... Suddenly LOCKDOWN and everyone at the station is neutral to me. >:|

I just beat Assassin's Creed 2.

Desmond's thoughts on this matter summarize my feelings very well.

Well, I actually managed to beat the final boss of DQIX.

Excuse me while I stare in abject disbelief. Actually finishing a game is still a bit of a rarity for me, so I can't believe I actually finished this one.

Now, the ending isn't perfect. Given that the plot *does* kinda serve as an introduction to the post-game content, it makes sense. And given how much of the game's DLC content (free stuff, connecting actually just trips some flags so that the content unlocks) hasn't come over yet, there's still quite a bit to do.

So eh. It was fun, I'm glad it's over, and I'll be coming back to it every so often.

Next on my list: Dragon Quest VIII, unless I find my copy of Rogue Galaxy (which I was on the verge of finishing...) or my copy of Half Minute Hero (need to re-do Hero 300 and actually see the ending to that, and finish that secret mission).

EDIT: OH GOD DAMMIT. I meant Dragon Quest IX.

Still playing fist of the north star kens rage. With a little dbz tenkaichi budokai on the side. and anxiously awaiting marvel vs capcom 3

Since I can't think of a better thread: A question for GenocideHeart, or anyone applicable, from the magic discussion a few pages back on the other game thread:

So, I was thinking & given your scenario on life with magic, how do you think the world would develop? From an evolution standpoint & your knowledge of the power of magics, humans either shouldn't be number one or have evolved the way they did. Isn't even intelligence debatable? There is no need for the wiring that have been used to create sciences & things like the division of labor.

And for all the elves hate, from existing human-like fantasy species, wouldn't elves be a natural number one given that they are considered to be good with magic? Given the power of magics, lording it over the mundane is par the course. It's nicer than how we treat animals, to be sure.

I come from a position of noob-ity, so would someone in the know enlighten me?

Dragon Quest IX. What the fuck is with some of the stories behind some of these fyggs? Fyggs #2-4 have had some depressing backstory behind them. Number 3 alone was sad when I backtracked to another town. And I feel guilty about how I finally got the boat.

Well, in an effort to justify my purchase of Xenosaga 3 years ago when it was new, and yet never having even taken the game out of the case due to not finishing 2, I decided to try and play through the whole of the Xenosaga series.

Finished 1 easily enough, and despite my dislike of many things about 2, finished it as well.

So now I finally start working on 3 after all of these years to try and finally resolve the story, which I'm fairly certain will only have about 50% resolution of plot points that they brought up at some point in the series, and leave the rest unresolved.

Actually, given a life with magic, I can see humans still being on top, just in a different way (through creative use of magic supplemented by rudimentary tools rather than tools alone).

And if there's one thing more powerful than humans' compulsion to kill each other, it's their curiosity. Given how many things can be done with magic, I wouldn't be surprised if most of the race spent most of their time figuring out new and (probably) reckless ways to apply their magic to everyday life. So there'd still be a great deal of intelligence and creativity involved. Magic can technically do anything... IF you figure out how to make it do that 'anything' to begin with. It doesn't come with an instruction manual, after all.

One thing's for sure, we'd have a lot more Darwin Awards. :snigger:

Elves are supposed to be more attuned with nature, not inherently better at magic. A large part of it comes from the fact that in settings where elves are number one at magic, humans discovered said magic later and have thus been growing reliant on tools. Put them on even footing and at that point it becomes a matter of experience (elves do live longer) vs. creativity (humans do tend to think outside the box, while elves are rather... set in their ways, to put it mildly).

They'd both excel, just at different things, if humans weren't so tool-based and removed from the mystical in most scenarios.

Finally got everything for Birth By Sleep, I mean every enemy, command, treasure, sticker, ice cream ingredient etc. Still hate getting through Ven's route.

Meh, I always thought Terra had it worse because his Dodge command sucked compared to Aqua and Ven's. My favorite characters to play as are Aqua, Ven, and Terra in that order. Aqua has the most delicious commands~

Not that. I hate his Disney World mini-game and his final battle with Vanitas*. Terra's route I found easy because of his Sonic Blade and personally I like his mini-game more than the other two. Aqua's route is the most fun all around.

A thing I'm a bit disappointed by is the lack of an ability to fight bosses you previously fought. I realize that it has limited space and Kingdom Hearts isn't known for that but it's almost sad beating them.

*You should know this by now.

Eh, I never cared too much about that stuff, (thought Vanitas' final fight is a bitch no matter how much you've grinded), but the post-game stuff is fucking impossible with Terra, mostly because his dodge is so damn bad.

And the trailer for Birth by Sleep Volume 2 has me pretty excited, though angry at the same time.

What's it like? I've honestly never heard of it and all I can find quickly is that some reviewer called it 'unplayable'.
