Ah yes, I've been reading that too. Personally I don't mind the short chapters since he updates so quickly. And surprisingly enough, I'm really enjoying it even though I usually don't find SI's to be that good.
Also, ditto that on the Ritsuko part. It really is a shame that there aren't more about her.

The thing is... I always felt Misato was made out to be too caring, kind, nice, etc. in fan fiction... And one can only take it so much after the pages and pages of Misato centric stories. People tend to forget that while a sloth at home, and having some caring moments. She was a hardliner wanting to get some serious payback against the angels and had her own moments of not being overly sympathetic to and even using the pilots to feed her desires for that very purpose. Remember, she was right there beside Ritsuko ordering Shinji to Pilot against the 3rd, she told him off knowing he would not have a normal soldiers mindset... etc...
Ritsuko, at least before the events leading to her final breakdown, had just as much grief, if not more so, than even Misato, and her tragedy was being with Gendo... Yet stories using her are far fewer. Not unheard of by any means, but vastly underused.
Neither is a angel, neither is innocent, both had potential, both were screwed over, and both were similar age.
But because of the disparity in number of stories I tend to enjoy the ones on Ritsuko when they come about.

I'm not too sure the junk chapter 27 added to the end of a completed 1st arc story actually is allowed under FF.NET rules, since it is not a chapter that contains story content.
But while it was not needed for me to learn of the new story arc, it *did* manage to catch my eye that chapter 26 had some edits.

Meh, never read the first one. Never had an interest in Mass Effect, so I didn't bother with the crossover. Kinda like I know there's some Babylon 5/Evangelion crossovers, but I didn't want to read them because I'm not a fan of B5. You can't quite enjoy a crossover if you don't have an interest in both the elements being crossed. It's why I think you shouldn't make a crossover between two series without having indulged in both yourself.
Sometimes (for me at least)... a single well written crossover can inspire you to try a series you were unsure of before, not only to see where the author changed the canon characters of the series, but to see what the original plot and character development entailed.
I am not suddenly playing Mass Effect, but this story and a couple Ranma crossovers with it did inspire me to do a ton of research into it, and have led me to a few, though not many, stories I liked, both crossovers and even not.
But for one that did there is a recent Ranma crossover with High School of the Dead that I thought well written enough to finally bother to finish watching the series I had put on the back burner long ago. I've started looking into a few stories with it.

Uncertain about a series, sure. Absolutely not interested likely can't be fixed without something phenomenal.
My point on actually indulging on any series you would use for a crossover before doing so still stands. Because I swear, not a one of the attempts at an Eva/High School DXD crossover are done by people with knowledge of both series. Though in most cases like that, it's more like they see a bunch of attractive females, hear about a couple tidbits regarding their personalities, and assume that contriving things so Shinji gets at them is nothing but good.

Ugh... I see that scenario all the time. There are tons of routes authors take to force a scenario for a particular pairing. Look at for example how many InuYasha stories merely take place in modern times in a modern high school to give the same scenario as any other HS sitcom on TV... that really does not make it a InuYasha story...

i mean, sometims with a bit of imagination they could be good, but it always ends up as "these characters have none of their powers, completely different backstory, no trace of their original personality and oh yeah this is obviously not me trying to live my own life vicariously though 'cool' (but not) characters who just happen to have a name you might recognise."
i fricken hate that. i don't even hope for the good concepts anymore, just skip anything that says highschool in a series where it doesn't belong. and sometimes where it does
