Anyone here play Burnout Paradise? Because something awesome just happened.

They put the freaking DeLorean in as DLC. Also coming soon: Ecto 1, the General Lee and KITT.

The article.
:jawdrop: :jawdrop: :jawdrop: :jawdrop:

That is all.

What system is that on? I might just have to buy that game.

Well this is certainly interesting.

Out of all the new Kingdom Hearts games coming, I think the DS one is the one I'm looking forward to the most. And it's not just because I'm a DS fanboy. It's because Birth By Sleep is just going to leave with more questions, while 358/2 Days ought to clear up some mysteries.

And then there's number XIV.

Ah Xion (Shion, as it's pronounced), how you confuse me. Are you truly Kairi's Nobody? In that case, WTF is Namine?

I must know the truth!

Ugh, man. This isn't going to last long at ALL, but for those online currently:

Atlus has made a VERY LIMITED reprinting of Persona 2: Eternal Punishment and is selling it on Amazon exclusively.

It's $39.99, and if you want it, buy it NOW.

I thought all of Organization XIII had names that were anagrams of their original ones but with an 'x' added in?

They're not playing by the rules.

Jeez, I can't even log onto the site!

EDIT: Check that, I got the game!

That's good, 'cause it's gone now.

Additional copies MIGHT pop up again though, mind. The initial e-mail that Atlus sent out sold out like this after the first two hours, and then this new (in stock Nov. 15th) popped up afterward. We'll see.

:headbanger:

Hold on--signing up for the ATLUS faithful. I've been meaning to do this for months.

Still have the game though. ^_^

EDIT: BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Just checked the ATLUS main page. Sekai wa Atashi de Mawatteru (The World Revolves Around Me) is getting a US release. It's local title? "My World, My Way".

I can't wait--millions of girls are going to buy "the princess game" thinking that they're getting Barbie or whatever. Then comes the HARDCORE RPG SMASH!!!!!

Two things:

One: That's a boy, and he's the Nobody of some kid named Ion.

Two: They caught wind of AJT's fic, and that's Ino's Nobody.

Some more ATLUS/Amazon love: they're selling a sort of exclusive Persona 4 package, including an additional soundtrack, T-shirt, calender, and plushie of Kumo. No game included. It's $29.99.

Uhhhh...
On the one hand, I don't think that's all that likely. In order for it to get that well known, Atlus would have to advertise in a media where it's likely that they'll notice it (which Atlus doesn't. At all. Seriously, the last time I saw an add for an Atlus game was on a page of nintendo power I think. And that was a while ago.)

On the other hand, it would be an expensive gift, but I could use it as a springboard to convert my cousin from DDR to RPG.

On the third... first foot, I have no idea what this game is actually about, besides a princess playing god with RPG elements.

On the second foot, I'm wondering if it'll unintentionally draw fangirls in droves to rpgs. Which, while interesting, could result in many, many unpleasant things.

Well, that's all the statements I can think of.
Wait... *checks calendar* oh, yeah. Less than a month left to persona 4.

I said a while back that I was going to make a gigantic post about why I love my DS--the absolutely ridiculous number of good looking and interesting RPGs that people here might have missed, or don't know about.

Then I realized that there are WAY TOO MANY good looking DS games coming out soon. And I found this forum, which did my job for me.

That said, some of them still stand head and shoulders above the crowd and deserve a mention.

First off: Dragon Quest IX. Looks amazing. Originally, it was going to be an action RPG, because SE wanted to try it out, but a sudden storm of threatening letters made them decide to stick to turn based. The cel-shading looks gorgeous, and while no plot details are forthcoming, I feel confident that the story will be interesting. It's Dragon Quest, by law it can't be anything else.

Next up: Suikoden Tierkreis. Yes, the next Suikoden game is on the DS. Yes, the combat characters look somewhat-chibi like. And yes *raises flameshield* they're setting the game in an alternate universe. No True Runes, no Jeanne, no enormous backstory... *dives under couch* Sorry GH.

Still, game looks to have an interesting plot. Parallel worlds, interesting multiplayer interaction, the 108 Stars of Destiny, political intrigue, 104 of the Stars of Destiny getting slaughtered in the games opening... wait, what?

After that: Valkyrie Profile: The Accursed One: Yes, the next VP is on the DS. This game is pretty interesting. You play as a kid who's father was made into an Einherjar, which led his family to poverty and his sister to death by malnutrition. He blames Lenneth Valkyrie (stupid kid. Her>>>You.) and vows revenge. He gets his chance when Hel (!!!) offers him an artifact: one of Lenneth Valkyrie's feathers. By using it, any party member can get a truly ridiculous stat boost, but DIE at the end of battle.

*sigh* Oh Valkyrie Profile, why do you always have us make hard decisions?

Hm... what next? Aha! Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days tells the story of Organization XIII's Roxas, Key of Destiny. Exactly what happened to him during the year he spent apart from Sora? What led him to leave the Organization, and fight against Riku, and to the Twilight Town simulation? And who the hell is this fourteenth member? Time to find out. This game's major highlight is Kingdom Hearts multiplayer. A number of missions in the game have been made into multiplayer stages, and supposedly we'll be free to use any member of Organization XIII in them.

My Luxord vs. your Axel, NGD. :snigger:

Phantasy Star for the longest time was the second most popular RPG series on the planet. Unlike Dragon Quest or Final Fantasy, it hasn't aged well. It's last remake was bland, to say the least. They could've done *so* much better. But I digress.

Phantasy Star Zero looks like it's going to be a direct prequel to the much loved late Phantasy Star Online. And yes, this is still a DS game. Like the original Phantasy Star Online, PS0 has three races and fourteen distinct classes. Unlike the original, the characters, classes and races are being designed by Toshiyuki Kubooka, the man who designed the characters in Lunar. Expect more fantasy-esque gear.

SMT: Devil Survivor is the next Megami Tensei game... and it's on the DS. Oh yes. You're a high school kid who's unlucky enough to be stuck in Tokyo right when the freaky shit starts to go down. Classic SMT--Tokyo demon apocalypse. Anyway, you've got a weird little game device that functions as your comp, allowing you to make demon contracts and all that. Like I said, classic SMT--we're hitting SNES era old-school.

And yes, there is a new Tales game for DS. Tales of Hearts is the third DS Tales game in about three years, which I think is a record. In fact, if this keeps up, there will be more DS Tales games than PS(2) games, and that's just ridiculous. Anyway, this one doesn't jump out at me in any way, but it has the old school 2D battle system, which I've always liked. Plotwise, a dream devouring monster has recently attacked the continent ruling empire. Much like Heartless, these "Zerom" attack a person and invade their heart (called Spira in-game). (Dear God, Final Fantasy IV, Final Fantasy X and Kingdom Hearts at the same time! Good show Namco!) People's hearts have created "mazes" of sorts to guard themselves from these creatures, and only people with the power of "Soma" (oh, come on, Soma Bringer too!?!) can enter these mazes.

... Wow. Namco, you guys have balls to try and rip off of Square-Enix that badly.

Jokes aside, this game looks somewhat interesting, not the least because two versions of the game are being released: one with CGI cutscenes, and one with the traditional Tales anime cutscenes.

Ninokuni is a game I know nothing about but will get anyway. I'll import the thing if I have to. Why? Two words: STUDIO (FREAKING) GHIBLI. Yes, this is the first game that Ghibli is helping with. Part of Level-5's anniversary releases, Ninokuni is about a kid with a magic book, who enters another world to find a cure for his mother's sickness. Cute, right? Here's the catch: the book is real. Every copy of hte game (in Japan) ships with a copy of the same magic book in the game, and in your book are the shapes you need to draw in order to cast spells.

Lastly, there's Infinite Space, made by Platinum Games. What, never heard of them? Let me ask you this: does the word "Clover Studios" mean anything to you? Yes, they're still working on games (thank God!). Anyway, Infinite Space is based on Childhood's End.

I'll give you a moment to process that.

Arthur C. Clarke has inspired a videogame. We are approaching Kamina levels of awesome.

This game features over 150 ship designs, a similar number of NPC crewmembers (recruitable), 3D spaceship combat, a main campaign stretching across two in game galaxies and a multiplayer head-to-head mode.

I think we left Kamina in the dust. The only thing that could be more awesome would be if the game had Wi-Fi PvP combat.

I found a link to the game's anime cutscene trailer, if that's your thing. Looks good.

Is it just me, or are there significantly more DS RPGs to look forward to than all kinds of console games? And has anyone noticed exactly how many awesome RPG series are headed for the DS? I am in awe.

... a storm of letters? People are that faithful to turn based... is this why finding a good Real Time RPG that isn't just pretending not to be turn based is so hard?

Granted, there are quite a lot of great ones... but still, it could be a tad better... :sweat2:

Oh, and my Axel will own all. As will my Larxene for giggles. And maybe my Lexaus, if only because his weapon is red.

I'd play Zexion, but I have to see how the book preforms first. Same with Xaldin's spears...

Hmm... I have my eye on roughly half of them... Interesting...

Yay! Sounds kind of like SMT ...if, honestly.

"Clover Studios" mean anything to you?
MY STYLE IS IMPETUOUS!

This post is full of joy. Not even the suikoden altverse can upset me after this.

Added Tales of Hearts (how could I forget that one?) and added the Infinite Space trailer video.

Take a look at it NGD. Is it just me, or does the kid look and speak suspiciously like Hitsuguya?

EDIT: Also made some changes to Suikoden Tierkreis, to refelect a few of the positive things that the game has going for it. Really, even without the awesome setting, I'm actually looking forward to Tierkreis...

Water for the win.
Thank my lucky stars for the Christmas gift of a DS.

Defintely for the voice, but that guy looks so feminine I'm highly suspicious, and the hair is off. Not to mention the eyes and height. A very very vague physical resemblance, but the voice is almost exactly what I recall of the Subbed Anime.

Not enough to convince me to get it though. None to fond of space games.

Also Demyx is a moron. A funny schizo moron, but a moron all the same. Especially now that I figured out his in-battle reaction command. He's got water yes, but the musical instrument kills him. Sides, Fire in KH can be used underwater. :p

Ok, that's what I thought. I just thought it was funny that Yuri has white hair too.

And that chick he's with looks like she'd get along with Matsumoto... God, writing crossovers for a game that isn't even out yet. I have no life. :p

About Demyx... you do realize that the idiot act is just... an act? The reaction he had when facing down Sora ("Silence, traitor!") at Hollow Bastion was more his true face.

I think, because he ruined the effect by screaming after you beat him.

EDIT: Damn! 1999 posts already. I have to get my surprise ready for post 2000... *sigh*

EDIT2: Thankee, NGD.

Dammit, in order for this to work I'm going to need to be offline... I doubt I'll be able to keep myself from posting otherwise.

I liked him too, especially with his Schizophrenia in the end there (My siblings screamed when suddenly switched right before the fight). It's just his combat potential was rather limited from what he showed. Though he could easily get you in some rather nasty combos.

And his reaction command was retarded. And showed why you don't break down in a rock out with your opponent mid-battle. A cheap move on Sora's part, but frankly the dude deserves it if he suddenly forgets they're fighting.

Edit: Also it was "Silence, Traitor", and yes it was awesome. Though he's still a moron. :snigger:

Since this is Valkyrie Profile, does Die actually mean, Die?

As in VP1 style death scenes?

All those are for the DS right?

I might have to look into those. Infinite Space kinda reminded me of some fanart I've seen of Ender's Game (Is OSC ever going to get around to releasing a game/movie?)

Phew! That's a relieft. 2K posts is broken, so now I can comment on this.

Re: Valkyrie Profile: Yes, I think that we might get the death scenes. I'm not going to download the Japanese ROM though. Yet.

Give me a few days and I'll be able to tell you.

@RockLee: ...Dare I ask what that's about?

@Siggy: Yes, all of those are DS games. And some of them look early generation PS2 games, which says a lot about them. If you like how Infinite Space looks, you might want to check out Puzzle Quest Galactrix, which is also on the DS, and also an RPG, albeit a puzzle based one. Not quite as pretty as IS, but the story should be interesting...

Sadly, no release date has been announced that I know of. :blue: But it does look awesome.

Anyway, I'm gathering my plans for another monster update. I'll probably look at the DS just a little, then move into the PS2.
