But where do the cyborg weapons come from???

I could understand if the bloodline originated with a ninja clan and they built their own armory to use with the power, but the Rinnegan is descended from a mindless tree monster and none of the tiny number of humans who have ever had the bloodline could have possibly created that technology.

Edit: Also something I noticed about the Asura Path that I found interesting. From the way it's described, you'd think you could use it as a kind of indirect regeneration. Replace injured body parts with new cyborg parts, or damaged cyborg parts with new cyborg parts (or even just recall the original flesh) and just keep on trucking like a terminator. But that doesn't seem to be the case. When Naruto trashed Asura Path, he didn't summon new mechanical parts to replace the destroyed ones (or recall his normal human organs), he just died.

Is that a limitation/weakness of the jutsu, or was Nagato not capable of using the power to it's fullest potential through a remotely controlled puppet?

Are you saying that you think the user has to supply their own equipment to use with Preta Path and that's why no rinnegan user besides Nagato ever uses that power? If so, how does Nagato build sci-fi cybernetics when he lives in a world where knifes are the pinnacle of weapon technology? Did he find and scavenge a crashed alien ship when he was younger?

My guess is that the Otsutsuki clan have something to do with it.

Eh, only way I could see actually needing to make their own arsenal is if they literally build it from their own bodies first with some Rinnegan wizardy, store in some space-time for their personal tech and then they summon it back when needed. Otherwise you have an ability that's entirely useless you happen to stumble upon some tech that's been lying around for a thousand years and doesn't actually come from the same planet. Almost as weird as dimension filled with bombardment weapons in its own way.

Nagato's connection to Pain seem to be cut off when they receive enough damage so the damage Naruto inflicted may have been too much too fast and it couldn't recover in time.

Then again, he couldn't do anything to fix Asura Path when Kakashi and co. wrecked it but was still able to operate it to murder Chouji with a missile.

except it's not. Rain is the best example of the narutoverse skizhotech-

What, because they have buildings covered in pipes, their ninja wear rebreathers and Nagato has a mechanical walker (which can probably also be attributed to the Asura Path)? It's fairly common for fans to claim that Rain has advanced technology but we don't really see any compelling examples of it aside from the questionable Asura Path. Their ninja still fight with senbon and kunai.

edit: fixing a dumb.

Asura Path, bro.

I was thinking about that walker thing the other day. It does seem like an interesting use of the Path to support himself.

in Konoha they have DNA sequencing computers better than ours. The statis or whatever chambers where the Pain bodies were conserved.

Yeah I was gonna say (but forgot), if you want real schizo-tech just look at their bizarrely advanced computer technology.

Wasn't that moon buster chakra cannon movie only? Is it actually canon?

Honestly it just makes me wonder why he doesn't use Asura Path to give himself full-blown cyborg legs so he can walk properly again (or better than normal with those rocket jets his puppet used). Even when he was revived as a zombie and cyborgized his arms he was still relying on that bird summon to move around.

Redrafted the Asura Path.

Currently working on the Animal Path though I'm not too sure what to write about it. My basic concept right now is that the fundamental ability of the Animal Path can actually turns ordinary animals into giant monsters with abilities based on their characteristics.

Animal Path seems pretty simple, basically seems to just allow summoning without a blood contract. I wanted to say that anything with those black chakra rods implanted in them is fair game for summoning, but then I remembered that he's summoned Konan so I'm not sure what the limitations/requirements are.

I used to think that the multiplying dog was a result of the Animal Path but that's actually a unique B-rank jutsu, amplification summoning technique.

I remember Nagato summoning his own Paths but not that he'd say summoned Konan. Neato.

I'm trying to give the Animal Path a little more oomph. Something more than just insta summons that would be distinctive to the Rinnegan. Hence Nagato essentially creating his own summons (and then murdering then with giant chakra stakes). :hmm:

Konan's lower lip piercing might well have been actually a small chakra rod, so Nagato could summon her whenever necessary.

Pic related.

You know I always thought it was odd that the summons have chakra stakes and rinnegan eyes just like the paths made from human corpses. Are they also corpses (of boss summons) that have been revived and are being animated by Nagato's remotely transmitted chakra? that seems weird to me, because it would essentially mean that he actually has fourteen paths rather than six. It would also imply that he has a gigantic refrigerated warehouse where he is storing them all in science tubes like he was doing with the human corpse Paths... which I guess is not impossible, but it's kind of a funny mental image to me.

Here's an idea. What if the summons are actually being pulled from a mysterious extradimensional space-time similar to the weapons summoned by Asura Path? The eight we see in canon are Nagato's favorites (which is why he modified their bodies to give them the shared Rinnegan vision and the amplification technique) but there are technically an unlimited variety of them that he could call on depending on what special traits and abilities he needs for the situation at hand. This is why they are seemingly immortal, able to be killed and summoned again later.

This could also explain why some of them are so weird looking - a bird with three legs, a chameleon whose tail is literally a snake, a multi-headed dog with wings, a rhinoceros with wings, etc.

That works. :sisi:

I'd originally just assumed that Nagato killed the summons of enemies he'd defeated when possible and skewered them with chakra stakes to make them his puppets as extensions of the Animal Path.

Clever. I'd wonder how human summoning might have worked for the Path. I suppose an ordinary Rinnegan user would only ever need to summon animals but the Six Paths of Pain gave Nagato reason to expand beyond that.

Edit: Though you'd need the excuse that she paints it as a disguise since it's a different colour to the chakra receivers.

it's also possible that's not a chakra rod but the real chakra rod is actually hidden. In lewd places.

Boil Release v2 (Knyght)

So instead on working on Animal Path as common sense would dictate, I got distracted and redid this one instead. Ah well.

Boil Release v2 (Official Version)

Boil Release is an advanced nature transformation that combines fire and water chakra to raise the temperature of the chakra to its boiling point and create vapor.

Rock Style

Boil Release can be internalized so that the boiling chakra is contained within the body, the excessive energy of the hot vapour producing extreme pressure which enhances their strength and speed.

The exact amount of extra force is proportional to the amount of chakra being boiled and how quickly it boils. Boiling a massive volume of chakra at once can grant the individual immense strength that could bring down multi-storied buildings in a single blow but it is short-lived. Whereas steadily boiling a smaller volume can grant them strength to shatter boulders but allows it to last for some time but it expires. And the strength produced by Boil Release far exceeds that gained by ordinary chakra enhancement.

A side-effect is that boiling hot vapour is expelled from the entire body which can burn everything and everyone around them, supplementing the damage they can inflict with strength alone.

The Five Tailed Horse was the original wielder of Boil Release. By boiling its enormous chakra, Kokuo was able to reach unmatchable speeds as its raced across the lands while leaving massive clouds of steam in its wake. Its jinchuuriki gains this same ability and have all been known to be physical powerhouses.

Most Famous Users

Han - The last of the Five Tails' Jinchuuriki, he built on the legacy of his predecessors by designing a personal suit of armour. The furnace strapped to its back allows the steam that would be trapped within the armour to escape without damage the metal or themselves. Han could take advantage of his strength to bear the heavy armour while using its to enhance his blows further with the heated metal. Few enemies were willing to face him directly on the battlefield once they witnessed this juggernaut in action.

Mist Style

The Ashido Clan was a despised kekkei genkai clans from the Land of Water who wielded their own style of Boil Release.

Rather than internalizing their boiling chakra, they specialized in releasing it directly upon their enemies. And instead of merely relying on the heat of the chakra reaching boiling point, they learned to alter its natural acidity so that it becomes a corrosive mist.

This acidic vapour can reach a level of strength that it can melt its way through solid rock or metal, to say nothing of human flesh. They can fill their surroundings with it to prevent anyone from drawing close without being melted down, release a mass of acidic vapour from their body to scald anyone at close range or shoot pressurized jets of acid that tear right through solid obstacles in moments.

The difficulty of the jutsu is how hazardous it is to allies as well as enemies. While the user is immune to the acid, no-one else which means that anyone around them could easily be wounded by accident.

Most Famous Users

Terumii Mei - The Fifth Mizukage is one of the last to wield the acidic Boil Release and uses it with her equally acidic Lava Release to devastating effect, the combination earning her the moniker of the "Meltdown Maiden". Any fight against her turns into one where the surrounding environment becomes a dangerous hazard as the enemy finds themselves surrounded by acid that, at first glance, appears no more harmful than mist while she is completely unimpeded.

I don't think Mei is just naturally immune to her own acid. We saw that she can consciously adjust the PH level when Sasuke broke through the wall and exposed her allies to the mist. I think it's a learned skill; that is, she's trained herself to reflexively neutralize any acid that touches her own body.

This would also explain why she doesn't dissolve her own clothes.

The Collector
Hmm, it seemed fairly normal to me for jutsu user not to be harmed by their own jutsu unless they go overboard. Even clothes are typically unaffected or affected in a way that prevents them from being damaged.

I might compromise there and make her reflexely neutralize acid as the means to her immunity but still as something more automatic than learned.

Clothes being unaffected by jutsu has to be mostly for censorship purposes though. For example, from the way the Kaiten is described, every Hyuuga that knows it should be a nudist in battle. There is no plausible reason for that jutsu not to blow off the user's clothing when they are releasing huge amounts of chakra from every pore in their body. Same for the Body Blow - how can Neji use chakra to blast spider webs or a water prison jutsu or a zetsu off his body, but not affect his own clothes?

If ninja lost their clothes as often as they should, this would be a very different manga. The Akimichi alone...:ph43r:

Now I've done the Animal Path. It doedn't include human summoning as I intend to include that with my eventual Six Paths of Pain article based on ankoku's idea.

Animal Path

The Animal Path has the ability to summon animals of any species.

Ordinary summoners need to make a blood pact with the animal they wish to summon and is willing to fight for them. Those with the Animal Path are able to summon any kind of animal in existence who are perfectly subservient to their summoner, willing to fight and die on their behalf.

This Path is able to tap into a space-time with an unlimited variety of animals bound to them. Without the need for blood or hand-seals, they can summon any one of them which are capable of using chakra and are as intelligent as any human. And the amount of chakra needed is far less regardless of how large the summons.

Unlike ordinary summons, these beings are not capable of dying permanently. They disappear when killed but can be summoned again once they are revived again in their space-time.

The animal that is called upon by the summoning depends on the special traits and abilities that are needed for the summoner to deal with their situation. Furthermore, they can be modified by the summoner as needed such as changing their size, merging different beings together or applying conditions that enhance their uses.

If they need to hide, they can summon a chameleon to camouflage themselves against their surroundings. If they need to attack from above, they can summon birds to let them fly through the air faster than a ninja could run. If they need brute force, they can summon a ram or rhino to charge through building with their immense bulk and momentum. If they need protection, they can summon a bear with a hardened body to withstand incoming attacks in their stead.

Eh, I don't quite agree. I honestly think Animal Path just can summon using the chakra rods instead a summoning path.
